Ning Shu had dropped dead. But in a burst of good fortune she became a task-taker in charge of counterattacking for pitiful cannon fodder. Thus, Ning Shu, in one world after another, took all kinds of life roles, encountered all kinds of ‘you’re heartless, you’re ruthless, you’re making trouble for no reason’ people. She encountered all sorts of white lotus flowers, green tea b*tches, scheming b*tches, by the batch.
Does any true beauty still exist in the world!? bellowed Ning Shu angrily. You annoying trash! I’m just here to counterattack, please don’t get in the way of me completing my task. Transmigration main character, reincarnation main character. There’s only a lazy task-taker, no undestroyable main character halo. Ning Shu had no choice but to painfully gather moral integrity in each of the worlds. - Description from novelupdates
Only a little over 100 chapters translated in 5 months. 🤣 CLN is rough to read and losing out on context.
Life has gotten busy & I've less time to read. This is one of the best system trope stories I've read, and I want to find out if my guesses to plot points will happen. Definitely return to this one later this year & use mangled G-translate to wrap up the series.
01/01/24 Notes:
I found the original LN in Chinese. 😄🙃 Series is done, not ongoing. There's over 4k chapters in CLN. The translated chapters are around 1500 chapters of the CLN. 1500. Not 2500. 🤣
Also, the G-Translation of CLN is barely readable. I'm going to wait a while and try to read CLN. Need to reset my mind frame & how to take story in with non-human translation.
12/31/23 Notes:
- Ongoing LN - Stopped on Ch2568 - Est 9,501 pages
I believe this LN has been finished in original Chinese, but the translation of it is ongoing.
I love this series! There have been a handful of cool, transmigration stories with quests that help people overcome hurdles. Sadly, I have yet to read a lengthy LN with a solid ending. 😆
Basic Premise: Most of this has been figured out by reading the series. It's like story clue. 😆 - Different planes of existence are connected to each other. - Some souls are given the chance to "counterattack" by paying with a portion to all of their soul. Counterattack is basically another chance at life but that is based on the wishes of the soul. Most died with regrets/want revenge/etc. - Soul strength (I believe) determines if a soul is given a chance to be a Player/Tasker or redo by counterattack. No rules on whether or not the person is good or bad. - Taskers have a system interface to deal with tasks and soul spaces. It's like VR purgatory with nada but blank white room & system robot as interface/manager. - Taskers start at zero level & have to go from newb to intermediate and so on. If one becomes strong enough as a soul and collects special items, they can make their own world plane.
Lots of cool stuff. Though most of the tasks are based on negative aspects so it could be a bit gloomy, but I like that the bare bones has to do with being true to one's beliefs, work hard to overcome difficulties, don't abuse power, knowledge learned & gained is best, and real relationships are not one sided.
DNF at 1945/4438. Actually a really good read with surprisingly good flow for such a long quick-transmigration theme novel. I only dropped it because I’m in the mood for some decent romance and this book is 1. No pairing; 2. Commenting on the negative side of romance for most of what I’ve read (While it’s a rational take on romance, it can be pretty discouraging); 3. Repeated commentaries of how women are negatively treated by society in almost every world (pretty depressing); 4. FL keeps getting beat up. >.> The strong is right and the weak is wrong. It’ll get better later when FL gets stronger, but for now it’s pretty sticky in the craw. I’m gonna turn to something else.
Rampant sexism. Annoying system. Irrational everyone. Deus ex machina utilized to make the protagonists life miserable. This is basically misogynistic tortured porn disguised as a story about a strong moral woman.
-Dropped Ch 26
After reading more of the reviews for this story, it seems what I’ve read is outstanding compared to all of the garbage the author writes later on.
This book pretends to be feminist but it's oh so sexist. Men always get better results than women even if they were one of the villains. Any woman against Ning Shu is bad, and the only women who are good are women who are her subordinates. Anyone equal to her in influence eventually becomes bad and is treated horribly by the book. Rape is regularly used as punishment for women and even if the antagonist is acting reasonably toward the protagonist (for example, not wanting the protagonist to be around her because the mc is a subordinate of the prince who almost raped her), the novel always portrays it as irrational. Reading further reviews show that it has progressed even further in this vein. I got tired of being frustrated while reading so I stopped after over 900 chapters. The only good thing about this story is that the mc is a woman and also gets stronger without needing to rely on a man.
