Christine wrote: "How are both of your books going Kristie?"The Personal Librarian was very good, Christine. It's a slower read, but very interesting.
The Younger Wife was also very good. You know more about what is going on than the characters do, so that's a bit weird but I really enjoyed it.
I just started Indistractable, so I don't have any opinion of it yet.
How are your reads going?
I finished reading Inherent Truth
by Alicia Anthony. Supernatural romantic suspense or psychic romantic suspense. Overall, this novel had exciting scenes, compelling, but flawed characters, and some heartrending moments. My 3.5 star rounded up to 4 stars review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Currently reading Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand. I’m 6 chapters away from being finished with the first book Unearthly! I can’t put it down!
Reading for my FTF BC The Maidens by Alex Michaelides. It's a thriller and it is holding my attention but at the half way point I'm pretty sure I know who's doing what (maybe because I read a lot of thrillers but it really seems obvious to me). Now I'm 3/4 through and I'm positive I know what's going on. It's just not as good as his first book, The Silent Patient which I didn't figure out until almost the end of the book.
Here is my review of A Blizzard of Polar Bears
by Alice Henderson. Alice Henderson has become my favorite author that emphasizes facets of nature in a crime thriller. Overall, this combined mystery, nature, the environment, action adventure, and survival into one fantastic crime novel. My 5 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Urvashi Pitre's
Indian Instant Pot Cooking: Traditional Indian Dishes Made Easy & Fast - short but packed with many restaurant favoritesMy review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4649185848
An advance readers copy I won from Goodreads Under Lock & Skeleton Key
by Gigi Pandian so far I'm liking it
Out by Natsuo Kirino is an award-winning and unconventional mystery novel. The story is set in Tokyo in the late 1990s.My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4608196408
I enjoyed Viet Thanh Nguyen's 2016 Pulitzer Prize winner, The Sympathizer, but the political and philosophical arguments got the better of me in his follow-up, The Committed. He's an excellent, smart writer - and funny (a Chinese guy called Le Cao Boi wishes he were American).

The Second Sight of Zachary Cloudesley is an entertaining debut by Sean Lusk which has some history, some mystery, some magic, and exotic locales (think sultan and harem!) so I can see a real fan base for this when it comes out in June.
3.5★ My review of Second Sight of Zachary...
Zeba Blay's Carefree Black Girls: A Celebration of Black Women in Popular Culture is a passionate protest, full of examples, about the global culture of "colorism" and how the darkness of your skin decides your worth and opportunities. She knows her stuff!
4★ My review of Carefree Black Girls
Just finished "Razorblade Tears" by S.A. Cosby. Currently reading "Annihilation" by Jeff Vandermeer.
Just finished:
my Deliciously Healthy Menopause review - Lots of great information, but the recipes didn't fit in with my personal dietary restrictions and tastes. Still worth a read, especially if you can make some changes to your diet pre-menopause and potentially prevent some symptoms. 4.5 stars
my DIY Resin Crafting review - Excellent introduction to resin. It made me want to start making a bunch of crafts. 5 stars
Enola Holmes and the Elegant Escapade
by Nancy Springer is the 8th book in the Enola Holmes series. This series brings together Sherlock Holmes and his much younger sister Enola in a teen / young adult historical mystery set in and around London in late 1889. The author blends suspense, a bold protagonist, and humor in this latest case for Enola. My 4 star review:

Where Serpents Sleep is number 4 in the engaging Sebastian St. Cyr historical mystery series. London 1812. Lord Devlin is teamed up with the daughter of Lord Jarvis, his nemesis. Full of action, history and humour.
4.5★ My review of Where Serpents Sleep
Apeirogon, by award-winning Irish writer Colum McCann, is the remarkable and moving true story of two fathers, former enemies, working for peace. One is Israeli, one Palestinian. Both lost young daughters in the conflict. It is unbelievably beautifully done.
5★ My review of Apeirogon
Ashley Audrain's psychological thriller, The Push, caused a lot of stir and I wondered why. I knew there was a worn-out mother with young children, but I expected something more.
3★ My review of The Push
I finished Kiss of the Vampire
by Cynthia Garner. This paranormal romantic suspense novel had a unique take on how vampires, werewolves, etc. came to earth.
My 3 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished To Save Her Child
by Margaret Daley. This is an inspirational romantic suspense novel set in and around Anchorage Alaska. My 3 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A new favourite Aussie thriller for my bookshelf! If you need more than my enthusiasm, Lee Child called Michael Trant's latest novel, Wild Dogs "Tough, fast and hard – my kind of book." It is also a completely authentic, Aussie outback story. I'm with Lee on this one.
5★ My review of Wild Dogs
I couldn't resist sharing some of the verse and illustrations after enjoying a re-read of Madeline, the much-loved picture book and poem from 1939 by Ludwig Bemelmans. I can't recite all of it anymore, but I'm surprised how much I remember."In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lived twelve little girls in two straight lines. . ."
5★ My revisit to Paris with Madeline
Needed a change from thrillers and mysteries so I'm reading a romance, Know You by Heart by Tif Marcelo. Will be back to thrillers next.
Karen M wrote: "Needed a change from thrillers and mysteries so I'm reading a romance, Know You by Heart by Tif Marcelo. Will be back to thrillers next."I just did that too, Karen, but I didn't love my choice. I have a few others lined up that I'll be reading soon. Hope you love your read.
Just finished Hook, Line, and Sinker
. Meh. I loved the characters and the storyline, but the thoughts and themes were very repetitive and got frustrating. Starting The Book of Cold Cases
.
I am reading "Reminders of Him" by Colleen Hoover. My first from this author. My gosh, it has me hooked!!
See Them Die, by Michael Fowler, introduces forensic psychologist Dr. Hamlet Mottrell, who is lying in a hospital bed with bandaged wrists, accused of slaughtering his family. Not a bad start for a new psychological mystery series
3★ My review of See Them Die
What a genre-busting delight The Nancys is! NZ author R.W.R. McDonald's debut is a funny, amateur-sleuth mystery with bright, young Tippy Chan and her over-the-top gay uncle and his beau.
4★ My review of The Nancys
I recently read Take It Back, the first of Kia Abdullah's popular new mystery series. Interesting premise: In London, a white, disabled girl accuses 4 Muslim boys of rape. Her lawyer is a beautiful, smart Muslim woman. Dilemma?
My review of Take It Back
I finished Who Can Hold the Sea: The U.S. Navy in the Cold War 1945-1960 by James D. Hornfischer. Overall, this is a very readable, enlightening, and educational history of the U.S. Navy during the early days of the Cold War. My 5 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
