Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Ian McEwan latest novel, Lessons is a too-detailed description of a mediocre life: some beautiful prose but far too wordy for me! 3★s

Needed some tighter editing, but the story on the whole is great.

An amazing memoir by my favourite contemporary graphic artists. Deals with mental health issues and how to cope.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Mick Herron's Slough House series is the perfect mix of political intrigue, action, and humour. Here the Slow Horses are up against some Bad Actors indeed. Love it!

Carolyn | 9837 comments Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young is a mystery surrounding the death of a young woman on an island that is steeped in myth and magic.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Only 2★s for Bony at Bermagui by Arthur Upfield because Bony investigating crime is interesting and intriguing; Bony or Upfield fishing or writing about fish is, frankly, boring. One tiny short story saves this from a lower rating.

Midnight on the Marne by Sarah Adlakha
An alternate history take on the WWI. Very interesting but convoluted on audio. If only I had read this instead of hearing it!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Edwina Wren's narration of Sulari Gentill stand-alone, The Woman in the Library is perfect, and Nick Ravenswood does an especially creepy Leo. 5★s

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments The current FBI stories have reminded me of the Bureau's connection with First Nations Peoples, whose treatment around the world is also much in the news.

David Grann of 'The New Yorker' wrote Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. I am still furious about this case, as I'm sure most readers would be.

Carolyn | 9837 comments A Better Man (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, #15) by Louise Penny A Better Man by Louise Penny is #15 in her stellar Inspector Gamache series. They're so good I like to save them for a special treat and still have two to look forward to before her new one comes out later this year.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I love it when an author keeps me guessing and has me completely fooled until the reveal. In I Remember You, Brian Freeman did just that. 5★s
