Carolyn | 9840 comments I enjoyed A Fatal End (Ryder & Loveday #8) by Faith Martin A Fatal End by Faith Martin, #8 in her series set in 1960s Oxford featuring WPC Trudy Loveday and her mentor, coroner Dr Clement Ryder. So that's another series I'll have to go back and read from the beginning, and I still have her DI Hillary Green series to finish!

Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Though it is not written as a YA book, it will certainly work well as a YA Fantasy.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments I really enjoyed the characters in The Secret World of Connie Starr, Aussie author Robbi Neal's new novel. It begins during the Depression and goes to 1952 in the small country town of Ballarat, Victoria. It's hard to keep secrets in a small town.
The Secret World of Connie Starr by Robbi Neal 4★ My review of The Secret World of Connie Starr

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Doctor Ice Pick sounds like some kind of snake-oil salesman from a couple of centuries ago, but this short non-ficton piece by Claire Prentice explains how recently he and his trainees were poking into brains of disturbed patients. ACK!
Doctor Ice Pick by Claire Prentice 3★ My review of Doctor Ice Pick

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Lying Beside You, #3 in the Cyrus Haven series by Michael Robotham is, if it's actually possible, even better than #1 and #2. More of this pair is most definitely welcome!! 5★s

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments While the author will know exactly what voice and intonation they intend for their characters, they might often NOT be the best person to narrate the audio version of their book. In the case of Still Life though, Sarah Winman is exactly the right person to do it: just wonderful!
