Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments British author Bella Osborne's latest novel, The Girls strays into a dark and thought-provoking theme, but is ultimately an uplifting read with plenty of humour. 4.5★s

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I love Alexander McCall Smith's 44 Scotland Street series, and have found that listening to David Rintoul's narration is even funnier than reading the print version. 5★s for A Time of Love and Tartan

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments I think The Strange Adventures of H, a young girl, by Sarah Burton could be an entertaining introduction to historical fiction about 17th century London. It covers the Plague, the Great Fire, and bawdy houses.

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments I am one of many fans of pre-teen sleuth and poisons expert Flavia de Luce, whose chemistry skills are legendary. The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag is the second in the series by Alan Bradley, and his depiction of 1950s rural England is a treat. Love it!
