Book: Ugly Love

So, each card (0-9 + Skip) corresponds to a specific letter. And for each letter, you need to find a person or place that starts with that letter if it applies. Same goes for the title of the book and the author's first or last name. The number of the book in a series also refers to the same card number (0 being a standalone). For reverse the book has to have been read before by someone else in the team,
For example, the book you read was by Colleen Hoover, so you markdown having card #3 because her last name starts with an H.
When I read a book I generally keep track and markdown anything that applies to the cards so I don't have to go back through.
If you go onto the working sheet that the captains graciously made, you can see at the top of the sheet the cards and their corresponding letters. Hope this made sense to you 😬

Here's how I keep track of the cards on my phone as I am reading:
0 - Z
1 - O
2 - T
3 – H
4 – F
5 – I
6 – S
7 – V
8 – E
9 – N
Skip K Or P
Hope this helps a bit! If you need me to go grab my copy upstairs and help with some additional names/cards to use I don't mind either.

As some of the others have said, you could have it used for a number 3 because of the author's last name. Or 2 since one of the characters is named Tate. Or 6 for the setting as San Francisco. I can put it on the sheet for you if you'd like and just want me to make the executive decision on the matter.

I do see that How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need will work for the spell out for either task #6 (spell builder) so I can plan to not finish it before the 14th :) I was thinking non-fiction was a disadvantage for UNO... fewer characters and clear locations. But I guess long titles can come in handy!

Haha, yea, nonfiction is usually really useful for those spellout tasks! Since they have so many more letters.

Feel free to put down any of your planned books that you think you'll finish after Feb 14th at 9am UTC time.
If you're going to finish your book before that time, don't put it on the mini. If you're not sure, go ahead and put it on, but remember to take it off if you do end up finishing your read before the start date and time of the mini.

just reminded me to add this to read
what did you think of it Angela?

I surprisingly really enjoyed this book. Dave Grohl really is a master "storyteller" and I could honestly listen to him narrate any book (audio version is definitely the way to go). While I grew up in the 90's I didn't consider myself a hard core Nirvana fan but I did listen to the Foo Fighters. I went in not really expecting much out of the book and finished wanting to sit down a have a few beers with him. Dave is one of the most humble people I have had the joy of reading. Plus, he's a bit funny. :)

Goodreads notifications are currently down. Trust me, it's been annoying me since Friday, lol. I'm going to have to check in with everyone individually since they may not all know that it's down. They just might assume we're all being weirdly radio silent.
Also, by the way, today is the start of the mini! So yay! We can start filling those in now.

Finally some benefit from my terrible start to this reading month! I got to use The Round House for the mini because I only finished it now x)

I just figured everyone was dragging their feet till the mini-challenge started :) Should have known better! I didn't get much reading done this weekend but actually got some projects around the house finished up (which was less fun, but needed). I'll be under a warm blanket with a book just as soon as work is done today.

Mini - Task #9

I hope everyone has had a good month. I've been pretty hectic with work, but still trying to get my reading in where I can. I'll be updating our official sheet this weekend with the completed books we've done. So far, we're looking really good.
We have 9 more days (not including today) left in the month. Most everything is claimed on the February tab.
Here's the cards that we have remaining:
Hand 13 -
4
Hand 14 -
4
Hand 15 -
9
6
So keep that in mind as you pick your coming reads. We need books that can fill either 4s, 9s, or 6s. Our mini is also coming along well, so if you're reading something that works for the mini, also plug that in there as well.

If we don’t think it will fit I’ll keep looking for something else…

I'll ask. Personally, I'd say it's an interior, since it's not outside, but I'll double check with the other Captains.

Thanks Sarah! I don’t think I’ll start before tomorrow and in the meantime will keep looking for a backup just in case.

Yes, we're doing really well! Even after all cards have been claimed, it's probably smart to keep track of possible cards for what you're reading. If one of us is busier than expected and can't read everything (s)he claimed, it will be useful to have a few back-ups.
