She opened the door to see him standing there. He looks so broken, she thought to herself, I did this, and with that thought she breaks a little more. She sits on his bed falling onto his pillows, crying.
"I hit you." she says simply, revolted by herself.
"I said horrible things when you were scared. I kicked you when you were already down." hating herself to a new extreme.
"No you didn't, I treated you like you were a jerk, when you didn't mean it to be like that. You weren't meaning how I took it. Maybe I belong in the psych ward still," she says, whispering the last sentence.
"I've been in and for the past few years for anorexia," she says, "but maybe I'm just a psycho."

"Who hits their boyfriend and him makes them hit her back?" she whispers, clearly in her head being attacked by her thoughts, "and yk what's even better? By tomorrow we'll be all over the internet whether it be for the bathroom or Chad or us hitting each other and don't say who cares because I do."

She whispers so very quietly, "I love you still." She gets up and hugs him, words failing her. She's still afraid he'll do something rash and break up with her. She wouldn't be surprised. She hears the door open and she's startled by Jackson's presence. She looks at him, her red cheek still showing and puts her arm around Liam, nervous.

Jackson looks at them, watching, looking at the red splotches on each of their faces.
Skylar cowers, afraid of what will happen between them. Remembering what happened last time Liam got defensive of her. She pleads with him not to do anything stupid.

"And then you slapped me." Liam added in.
"I did, yes. I'm sorry about that, but you were acting like an ass."
"It's whatever" she says, looking down. Only Liam understands how dangerous those words coming out of her mouth are. She fights against Liam, wanting to smack him like he did her boyfriend, but realized she had done and had no right. She went limp against his back.

Liam turned and hugged her, squeezing her softly. "I'm sorry about him."
"It's whatever." she said looking down.
"I know." she said, wondering if he thought she was dumb or something.
She smiles, "Okay." She holds him tighter, content to just stand there like that for hours.
She gradually feels her anger sliding away, her regret still there, reminding her, but not attacking her like before.
She starts to not be tense and leans into him more, not ever wanting him to leave her side, never wanting to anger him, hit him, fight with him ever again. She sighs and says, "Is this over?'

She smiles and says, "Thank God. I'm sorry," she says, looking at her hand mark again. "I hit you just as hard as he did you."
Her face burned. "Okay." she said, knowing he already knew that it wasn't.

She looked down, "I did, and you know it."

"An eye for an eye," she whispered looking in the mirror at her cheek, where his hand print was, then looking at his and says, weakly joking, "Well at least we match."
She smiles, but it's not her real smile, not the genuine, blinding one that Liam loves. "Can we move on. Do something? Not stand here being sad?"
She sighs, "I don't know. Just not this."

"Sure, let's do that," hoping that whatever game they played helped her get out of her head.
She picked up Clue, the most mentally challenging game he had.
She says, "I don't lose." trying to talk seriously as she smiled up at him.
She dealt out the cards and grabbed the sheet saying, "Don't cheatttt..."
She took it and smiled, "We will see about that,"
