===========================================

NOTE - Given the length of this challenge, and Goodreads' character limit within one post, I'd strongly recommend you reserve TWO spaces right away.

Unless a variation is specified above, words must match exactly, with the following exceptions: I will accept a plural/singular version, or differences in spelling between British and American English (e.g. honor or honour). But those are the ONLY deviations allowed. So if you are looking for "vivid" - I will NOT allow "vividly."

All books used must be a minimum of 100 pages long - Page length determined by HARDCOVER 1st edition. If there is no Hardcover, then the most popular paperback governs page #.

You may read in any format - text, audio or e-book. If using audio or e-book I suggest using Amazon.com's "look inside" feature to get a page number for your quote.

You MUST finish the book before you can claim credit for finding the word/phrase.

EXAMPLE of a successful post:
garden - The Yellow Wallpaper and Selected Writings ✔ - 15May21 - pg 191 - "... have great gardens and vineyards..."

Have Fun!

Adobo is a marinade / sauce that originated in Spanish & Portuguese cuisine, and which has been widely adopted in Latin America. I keep a jar of adobo seasoning in my pantry.

.
until I realized I had the TV on in the background and the word was used in a commercial.

You can cite chapter or other marker, such as "part two, 25 minutes in". BUT ... I usually look up the paperback or hardcover on Amazon and use the "look inside" feature to get the page number for the quote.

Robin P | 228 comments Thanks, I thought Amazon only let you see the first couple of chapters of a book that way.

I was surprised to find "eucalyptus" last night! I think the hard ones to find would be the more ordinary words.

Robin P wrote: "Thanks, I thought Amazon only let you see the first couple of chapters of a book that way..."

Sometimes. Other times you can get virtually the entire book. There's also Google Books which has a preview feature.

Again, there are times when you cannot get the page number. Or when you cannot view the entire quote.

If you want to play - officially - Robin, please create a post (or two) to track your progress.

Donna | 496 comments CHALLENGE COMPLETE!

***Because I can't follow instructions, I did NOT reserve 2 spaces. My post had room for only 99 words, so the last word I found is below:***

✔Poppycock ~~ Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty ~~ 02May22 ~~ Page 206 ~~ “...Balderdash! Poppycock!…”

Great job, Donna.

In the future, you could probably get all 100 words in one post IF ...
you abbreviate Page to pg (or even just p) and you eliminate the duplicate ~~ in favor of a single ~ wherever you use it.

It's all about the character count.

Oh ... and you forgot to include the actual quote for "poppycock" ....

(Been there, done that.)

Donna | 496 comments Oops! I corrected the post above. Yes, if I had run out of room before word #99, I would have edited things a bit more.

Thank you!
