Jo Elliott | 1838 comments So my 2021 #RockMyTBR challenge didn't quite go according to plan, given that I've been in a reading slump this year and have found audiobooks much easier to get through than physical books. Still I'm going to try again this year and hopefully I'll get through more of these than last year's list.

Jo Elliott | 1838 comments Here's what I'm planning to read this year. Thankfully the voters on my Twitter polls seem to have naturally landed on a lot of shorter books which I think will be really helpful as I hopefully emerge from this slump I've been in! As in previous years, all the books are backlist (so nothing released in 2022, I do have some 2021 releases on here, though not actually that many!):

January: The Girls I've Been by Tess Sharpe

February: The Love Hypothesis by Laura Steven

March: The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker

April: Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé

May: An Affair of Poisons by Addie Thorley

June: The Last Magician (The Last Magician, #1) by Lisa Maxwell

July: Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe, #2) by Neal Shusterman

August: The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

September: The Near Witch (The Near Witch, #1) by Victoria Schwab

October: Bridge of Souls (Cassidy Blake, #3) by Victoria Schwab

November: A Kingdom for a Stage (For a Muse of Fire #2) by Heidi Heilig

December: Spellslinger (Spellslinger, #1) by Sebastien de Castell

The months aren't set in stone, I may move books around depending on my mood, but hopefully I will do better on next year's challenge than I did on this year's! I definitely think having a lot of shorter books will help. I will keep this thread updated with thoughts throughout the year as I did in 2020, and failed slightly at this year!

I'm glad Twitter was more helpful this year 😂 Good luck on your challenge Jo!

Jo Elliott | 1838 comments Ha ha thanks! It's not really their fault that I've been in a slump and only really wanted to listen to audio this year, but I admit I was relieved when I saw that most of their choices this year were much shorter books than last!

I get it! That's all I've been reading lately: just short books. I remember I voted in your polls last year and the options were all pretty close. I don't know what they looked like this year, but I'm glad they went your way. Lol.

Jo Elliott | 1838 comments It is the one drawback of mostly reading fantasy, like 90% of the books on my shelf are super chunky! Surprisingly not all that close this year, there was only one tied poll that took several tries to solve.

Good to hear about the shorter books for the upcoming year Jo. I agree so many fantasy books are chunky! Best of luck!

Jo Elliott | 1838 comments Thanks! Yeah much as I love fantasy, I do wish they could be a bit shorter sometimes.
