Merry Christmas all! We have a fairly low key day planned today. My son is coming at 3pm and the in-laws at 5, dinner at 6 and presents after dessert. That leaves a lot of time for reading. Sounds like a perfect Christmas to me! :)

Oh, my! Just finished Malibu Rising! absolutely excellent, IMO! Now to finish Eva Luna. Interestingly, I decided to reread the first 54 pages since it had been so long since I'd initially read them and am so glad I did. Although this book didn't gel for me much the first time, I am enjoying it much more now. Sometimes I think it is just the mood I'm in that determines my enjoyment! Hope you all are happy, safe, and healthy! We have now completed 45 of the 90 prompts and have earned a total of almost 7 wildcards! Bookin' right along! 😊
I finished Letters from Father Christmas and put it under Fantasy. I am optimistic I'll finish one more audio tomorrow, we shall see!
I ended up reading only 70 pages of One Day in December (which confused me a bit, because I'd meant to read 100, but I guess I forgot what page I'd started on) physically, but I also listened to the majority of The Afterlife of Holly Chase as an audiobook. I found it on a fairly random website so it wasn't the best for tracking how much time I spent, but it was equivalent to 299 pages physically. I only know that because I have the physical book too, so I checked where I left off.Unfortunately didn't get to finish either of those today, but on the plus side I should be finishing both of them off tomorrow.
Ok, remember yesterday when I said it was going to be a fairly laid back day and I was going to get SO much reading done? 😂🤣😂🤣I got 95 pages read and finished zero books. Not bad but certainly not the 300 pages and two books I expected to finish. lol
Today should be better. I know I will finished the book for Thailand at least, there are only about 60 pages left. I should finish Riot Baby too though I'm not sure where I will put that yet.
I think we've done great to have completed 50 books! Do we need to decide where to use our wildcards, or do they get added to our total automatically?I finished Inland late last night and have added it to the spreadsheet under 'western'. I've started two new books (I like to have a physical book and an audiobook on the go at the same time) but I don't think I will manage to finish either of them before tonight, so it will just be for pages / hours.
Good Morning. I finished Christmas by the Book by Anne Marie Ryan. I put it under paperback. I started When Christmas Comes by Andrew Klavan. I won't finished by tonight so it will count for audio & pages read. I didn't put it on the planning spreadsheet. I enjoyed the read-a-thon & working with all of you.

We can also just throw them in now into shelves that clearly won't be filled because they have 0 possibilities. Should someone finish a book that fits one of those we could move the wildcards.
I plan to finish 12 Days at Bleakly Manor today which fits for Gothic, and that will be it for me.
I just peeked at the other teams and Fox has completed 47 with 7 WC, Polar Bear is at 50 with 9 WC, and Reindeer is at 65 with 10 WC. So we're right in the middle. It's also worth pointing out we have a few team members that haven't recorded their page counts, so I think we've done pretty well!
Caitie wrote: "Just finished Three Junes! I put it under Have"That's great! What did you think of the book? I have owned a copy for years and have yet to read it! 🙁 Too many books...too little time! LOL

I peeked at other teams during my first team readathon (when I was also a Team Leader) and kinda freaked out! LOL I don't peek at others now... Good to know we're in the middle. And perhaps other team members who perhaps don't comment as often are reading more than we think! 👍😄
I just know that I have enjoyed reading the books I had selected!
I just wanted to say I had a blast reading with all of you this week! Although I may not comment as much, I definitely enjoyed reading the comments under this thread! I am hoping to finish The Lovely Bones today and be able to add that to the spreadsheet!
I don't know if anyone else experiences this or not, but I get so frustrated with Goodreads sometimes inexplicably ALWAYS switching my edition of a book to "Kindle" when I NEVER read on a Kindle. I do not own one. I don't plan to own one. And this only happens repeatedly to certain titles. It is so weird! LOL 😋So, I am finishing Waiting to Exhale today. (And so anxious to read Getting to Happy in 2022!) I will use it to fulfill the "humor" prompt.
I think I can finish Such a Fun Age as well. At least I'll try! I would use that to fulfill the "Maybe" prompt. I love that we have left so many of the easily-fulfilled prompts open at the end! Maybe one of the less-active members thus far will come along with some of those! 😊
I was a bit disappointed that I needed to concentrate on only those books I needed to read to fulfill year-long challenge prompts since I usually purposefully select shorter books more targeted to the more obscure readathon prompts. But I couldn't do that this time around and it worked out fine for my own satisfaction. I just feel badly that I wasn't able to finish as many books as I might have otherwise been able to do with the same amount of reading time and pages read! Ah...such is life!
Goodreads wants you to buy the Kindle version and support Amazon!I finished 12 Days at Bleakly Manor while starting the puzzle my son got me for Christmas and slotted it in for Gothic. I will probably read more pages but highly doubt I'll finish another book today.
Good Evening. I did finish When Christmas Comes by Andrew Klavan. I put it under did not finish. I'm definitely done now.
@Lynn Three Junes was fine. There were moments that were gorgeous and pulled at my heartstrings, but it was filled in with too much that did very little for me.I went skiing today so will do my best to read as many pages as possible before I fall asleep tonight. Always a fun time, thanks for letting me read with you this week!
Sorry guys, I ended up being ridiculously busy through the majority of the read-a-thon, which is ironic because I'm pretty sure this is the week I'd voted to hold it. I finished off The Afterlife of Holly Chase and One Day in December today, and even got 70 pages into Royal Holiday.
I feel so bad I couldn't check in more often, or at least earlier than past midnight every single day.
Just added my last two finished books to the spreadsheet for Contemporary and Gothic. Great job everyone!
I just added my last two books. Sorry I didn't get to the spreadsheet until this morning, but I was dead tired when I finished the last book last night and went to bed. (I knew our felines wouldn't let me sleep past 7-8AM, so just went to bed! LOL) We read 57 books!! And we earned 8.9248 wilcards! Almost 9... 😋It has been great fun reading and discussing with you-all. I'll be documenting the books from this past week for our Popsugar Weekly Check-In on Thursday and cooking today, so not much reading today. Though I will be continuing with the Individual Challenge!! I do love reading challenges!
GREAT JOB, Penguins!!! 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
🎆🎆🎇🎇✨✨🥂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Rachel, you read 1606 pages!!! Stop!!! You did great!!! 👍🎅

I'm well aware the "Kindle" thing is a marketing ploy. It just frustrates me to no end! If I wanted a Kindle, I would buy one! And the fact that this program does that makes me want one even less! (If that's possible!) LOL 🤨 I am not an Amazon fan for many reasons. I have remained on Goodreads and I use Audible once in awhile, and I consult IMDB on occasion.
I was afraid I wouldn't get to finish my last book as well. Just lucky that I could and did!
Sherri wrote: "Good Evening. I did finish When Christmas Comes by Andrew Klavan. I put it under did not finish. I'm definitely done now."I just checked the spreadsheet and this wasn't marked in the right-hand column, so we actually read 58 books!! I'm going back to check that spreadsheet one last time! LOL
I just checked the spreadsheet again and discovered another one that had not been checked off in the righthand column! So we completed 59 books in these past 9 days! Whoo! Whoo!
Reed there are quarterly read-a-thons. I noticed you haven't logged your pages on the spreadsheet, if you'd like to post here how many you read and any books you finished we can log them for you.We finished 60 books and 8 wildcards, pretty great I think!

Thanks! But I meant more in terms of actually checking in, not so much with my actual reading lol

Ah...I see! Well, I'm sorry you didn't have time to do that as well! I always appreciate getting to know other Goodreaders as part of readathons!

This was my first read-a-thon and I wasn't too sure what to expect, but it was a blast and everyone did amazing! I'm super proud to be on Team Penguin
