Elle | 3 comments 1. YA SciFi/Fantasy Series where humans are sent to habitable planet hibernating in pods on a spaceship. The kids (teens&preteens?) wakeup to discover most (all?) adults are dead and the ship has crashed. Some of the bodies have been eaten by space worms, some are dust, some pods are perfectly preserved. The kids try to survive on the alien planet. Some die, some develop superpowers, one boy is able to turn his body into space worms and reform.

One scene from a later book happens after they figure out that the kid who can turn into worms might be able to share his ability by allowing the worms to devour the body of another living person. One of the older girls is jealous of the ability and attempts to give herself a mortal injury on purpose so that the boy will be forced into giving her that ability. *I can't remember if she succeeds or if another girl gets in the way and gains the ability instead.

2. Read around 2003-2008

Elle | 3 comments Unfortunately, no. The majority of those are still set on Earth, and the few that are set elsewhere are not what I'm looking for.

Mai | 1280 comments The Mayflower Project by Katherine Applegate maybe? It came up in a search so I'm not sure all the details match but it sounds close!

It's the first book of the Remnants Series (and according to Goodreads there are 14 books in the series!!)

Elle | 3 comments I think that's it! The first few covers look familiar, as does the series name and some of the characters as well. Thank you so much!
