Sharon | 3 comments I believe it was 2 boys and a girl. All I can remember is one fell into the carcass and it's been driving me nuts for years. I read the book in the late 70's or early 80's.

Rainbowheart | 28699 comments Was it historical fiction, or set in the modern day?

Do you remember why there was a horse carcass on the street?

Sharon | 3 comments It was not historical fiction. Probably set in the 60s or 70s. The horse carcass was in a field they were passing through in a city area. That is honestly about all I can remember. I read it as a teen in the 80s. They were 3 friends and it was a coming of age story.

Rainbowheart | 28699 comments There's a horse carcass in "The Colt" by Wallace Stegner, but I don't know if anyone falls into it.

Sharon | 3 comments YES! That's the book. Red Sky at Morning. They played a game where they had to touch a dead horse and the main character tripped and feel into the carcass. I'm going to read that book again. From the synopsis I didn't get what I should have from the book 45 years ago, or like everything else, I've forgotten it all....except that darn dead horse. Thank you all!
