Task: Task 15 - 105. Each teammate lists two favorite authors. Select books written by the authors on two different teammate's list and read books by those authors. (Two books each per teammate.) No pass for this task.

Second chance romance isn't one of my favorite tropes, but this was really, really well done. This is purported to be a retelling of Jane Austen's Persuasion (one of my favorite Austen novels), but it didn't really read that way to me.

I really wanted to like this more than I did. The writing is very good, but I never connected with the MCs all that well. By the end, I was much more interested in the secondary characters and will continue with the series just because I want to know what happens to them.

Loved it
Robin was a delightful character! There are a lot of good points made about the behaviour in the wealthy that isn’t accepted by the poor. I loved Hart and how his character grew. Alice and Marianne were great as well. As always with Ms Charles, the writing is superb and the story engaging!

This was no less than what I come to expect from Jordan Hawk's works. It was imaginative and spooky. I had a good sense of place and time. I guessed one twist but not another. The book kept my attention until the end and left me eager for the next book. This promises to be a great series.

Fi | 379 comments From tracking thread:

‼️ PLEASE TAKE NOTE! ‼️

With the challenge ending on Wednesday, November 17th, there will a minor change to the last task. Beginning on Monday, November 15th, when teams post their completions and get a new task, they will all get the same task. For this task, instead of just completing it, you will continue reading to add to the total number of books read for your team. There will be no passes for the last task and to complete it, every team member must complete a book for the task and contribute to the overall book count. So, the task is considered ‘completed’ when every team member has read one book for the task, but you can continue reading in order to increase your overall book count for the task in case that is needed for a tie breaker. In the event that two or more teams are tied based on the number of tasks completed, the team with the highest book count will win The Amazing Race Team Challenge!

**Remember if your completion posts are incomplete or have the wrong page count, your books will not count. So help each other out by checking the posts!**

‼️ If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. ‼️

MountainKat | 31763 comments Here is your next task!

Task 16 - 71. Pick another team and each member reads one book that was read by a member for this challenge. No pass for this task.

As a team, select another team in this challenge. Then each teammate reads a book read by a member of the selected team for this challenge. Please include a link to the selected team member’s completion post for the chosen book. Also include the selected team in your completion posts. No pass for this task.

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments Ugh... I've had a very busy and eventful weekend and haven't had much time to read. My oldest turned 18 and we had a party, my computer crashed my phone trying to update it (it took over 6 hours to figure out how to get it out of recovery mode so I could even use it again), and I can't get iTunes to work to back my phone up again.

I hope to be finished by this evening.

So, this contained all the snark, sexiness, and action that I've come to expect from this universe. It also had the far fetched plot line that you need to just accept and not think too hard about.

I like Austen and Zach (though why the baby of the family ended up with his surname as a nick name baffles me) I can see the set up for future novels in this world and I’ll probably read all of them just for fun.

Congratultions on your 18 year old! And I'm so sorry about your phone - how miserable.

I can't believe we're done tomorrow. We've been a pretty quiet group, but it's been lovely to have been teammates with all of you again.

MountainKat | 31763 comments Here is your last task!

Last Task. Read books with more than one person on the cover.

Books selected for this task need to clearly and obviously have more than one person on the cover. The cover does not need to show all of both people, but it does need to show enough that it clearly has at least two people on the cover. You can use any edition’s cover to qualify. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion post.

Remember completion posts with errors or missing elements will not count towards your team total or the completion of this task. The task will be considered ‘completed’ when each team member has completed one book for this task, additional books will count towards a tie breaker if necessary. Help each other out by double checking posts are complete with the first edition Kindle page count!

There is no need to post a team completion in the Q&A thread, I will be checking all team threads at the conclusion of the challenge. 😊

I like this series, although it's a bit uneven. This installment appealed to more more than the last, although I'm not certain why. I do wish they were a bit longer - I think there's more character development that could be taking place.

It does look complicated, doesn't it? That one reason I'm hestitating. I really loved Spellathon last year (I saw that sign ups begin tomorrow), but it doesn't start for another month!

Oh, well - I don't have to decide instantly. Thanks for replying, Teresa.
