Cross (The Formicary, #2) by S.E. Harmon
Cross by S.E. Harmon
299 Pages
How it qualifies: MPG Romance (have screenshot too if needed)
Date Read: 11/2/2021
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: Am going to try to keep this review spoiler free, so it's likely to get a little rambly, but Harmon sure knows how to keep you on your toes! This book was just so interesting and completely unlike anything else I've read in the genre. It's sorta a superhero book (but with the most morally gray superheroes), it's sorta a science fiction book, but at its heart it's a romance with the kind of epic love that everyone wants to find for themselves. A lot of twists and turns, plenty of action, and Chris and Gray being lovely throughout it. As always A+ snark and banter too so even when the plot gets heavy, Harmon masterfully can make you laugh out loud. Not a standalone by any means, but definitely a series worthy of picking up!

Reindeer Games by N.R. Walker

How it qualifies: MPG Romance
Read: November 1st
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review:
Cute and fluffy :)
A sweet Christmas story making the point that the holiday is about friends and family, not about money and presents.
I'd love to read more about Leif and Russ.

What Remains by Garrett Leigh
What Remains by Garrett Leigh
248 pages
MPG Romance
Read: 31 Oct
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: Way less angsty than many other amnesia books, What Remains stays on the sweeter side. Plus loads of Garrett Leigh's best sex, so win-win for me.

MountainKat | 31597 comments Here is your next task!

Task 13 - 80. Read 4 books initially published in different decades.

Books selected for this task need to be initially published in different decades, though not necessarily sequential. For this task, decades will run 0-9, so 2010 through 2019 is one decade. Make sure to use the initial publication date. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page use it, otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include your selected decade in your completion posts.

The Professor's Dragon (Here Be Dragons, #2) by Louisa Masters
The Professor's Dragon by Louisa Masters
231 Pages
How it qualifies: Published in the 2020s- November 18, 2021
Date Read: 11/3/2021
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: Low-angst, hilarious, and just wildly fun as all books that Masters has written in this world have been. The first book in this spin off series was just okay for me, I think I missed the action subplot of the original series, but with this one I was able to just sit back and enjoy the ride and really loved the book. We've seen Dustin really come into his own over these two series and in this book he's competent, mature (or as mature as dragons can be), and wholly prepared to be the man Rob needs. There's not much plot to this one, but there was a lot of laughs, a great cast of characters, and a very sweet romance.

Out in the End Zone (Out in College, #2) by Lane Hayes
Out in the End Zone by Lane Hayes
Pages: 162
How it qualifies: First published in the 2010s - October 7th 2018
Read: November 4th
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)
Review:
A mostly light read with a sort of fake boyfriend trope. It was entertaining and never got boring. I enjoyed reading it.

The Low Road by James Lear
The Low Road by James Lear
275 pages
How it qualifies: First published in 2001
Read: 6 November
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: It's been ages since I've read a James Lear novel, and there's still nothing quite like it. If you remove all or most of the erotica, he does write a good story.

And I drove my daughter to see her girlfriend today. It was a lovely day though, fall colors and lunch in a nice restaurant. Then fighting the traffic all the way back to Long Island. *sigh*

I'll finish tomorrow morning when I walk the dogs.

Oha Janeylou, you're early with your Christmas presents! I love Christmas but with each year it is getting more and more difficult to come up with some present ideas.
What does a wedding sampler include?

I'm already looking for new challenges. I even signed up for Christmas bingo yesterday.....

Tomorrow we need to drive back home. That's at least 6½ hours on the road without reading or listening to audio books.....

message 392: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2789 comments I'm done so I'll update and post our completion.

Tomorrow I'm driving to Philadelphia with my son to see a concert and stay over night - little time for listening for me as well. Though he is gay and knows the kinds of books I listen to and read, possibly we can find something we'd both enjoy?

Drive safe Caipi!

Trio | 2789 comments Janeylou wrote: "Who are you going to see Trio?..."

it's our favorite band, they're called Alkaline Trio (it's where I got the trio from lol). We've driven all over the east coast to see them, and have been doing over 10 years now. I honestly wasn't sure they'd ever tour again after Covid, so we were thrilled. Went to see them in NYC last Friday and they were great.

We also haven't been to Philly since before Covid and it has always been one of our favorite destinations!!! The food there is amazing!

Trio | 2789 comments Shut Up Amanda!!!!! I almost never come across anyone else who has ever seen them! (or heard of them)

message 400: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2789 comments They weren't at their best last week - the sound system wasn't great, and Matt's voice was failing. Plus they're not the headliners. We've found they're more motivated when it's their show.

A few years ago they performed four shows in a row, playing two of each of their records each night. We got to see all four shows in Brooklyn, then drove up to Boston and saw all four shows again. That's how crazy we are 😂 - they're 100% worth it!
