Here's what I finished in November. The Fall of Babel ★★★★
Certain Dark Things ★★★
Blackmail and Bibingka ★★★★
I finished a couple books. First was Rule of Wolves. Apart from an unnecessary plot point that made me mad, I still enjoyed this duology. And I finished Arrow's Flight. Almost nothing happened really, but I did end up liking it. I'm on book three now: Arrow's Fall.
I finished Farilane by Michael J. Sullivan. It was so good, but I definitely wasn't expecting that ending. Now I'm reading Bellwether by Connie Willis. Was in the mood for sci-fi.
Search links aren't working today. :/
Happy New Year! This is what I read in December.Rule of Wolves ★★★★
Arrow's Flight ★★★★
Farilane ★★★★★
I just finished Bellwether. It made more sense towards the end, but I still didn't really like it.Now I'm starting The Lost Metal.
I read K.B. Wagers' Beyond the Empire (third in her Indranan War trilogy) in the space of about 48 hours and started Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose, which I expect will take quite a bit longer.
I finished Arrow's Fall. This book got really dark. Some things weren't handled well. I don't know that it was the best wrap up to the trilogy, but I'd still try more Valdemar books. Now I've started Lost in the Moment and Found.
I just finished Lost in the Moment and Found. I thought it was one of the better Wayward Children books. I liked it.Starting The Ballad of Black Tom now.
Here's what I finished in January. A bit of a meh month I guess, with one good book.Bellwether ★★
Arrow's Fall ★★★
Lost in the Moment and Found ★★★★
Finished Warriors and started horror collection In a Lonely Place by Karl Edward Wagner, back in print for the first time in almost 40 years.
I finished The Lost Metal last night. It was really good and a nice wrap up to the series.Just started The Windup Girl. It's something I've been wanting to read for a while now.
And I guess I'm just in a short story collection mood -- next up is The Big Book of Swashbuckling Adventure: Classic Tales of Dashing Heroes, Dastardly Villains, and Daring Escapes, edited by Lawrence Ellsworth.
I finished The Ballad of Black Tom. Good Lovecraftian story told through the lens of racial prejudice. I'm in a random mood, so reading a random obscure animal fantasy called The Blood Jaguar.
Reading The Fires of Heaven, these Wheel of Time books have a lot of problems, but it is fun reading along with friends and discuss them.
My February:Warriors ★★★★
In a Lonely Place ★★★★
The Big Book of Swashbuckling Adventure: Classic Tales of Dashing Heroes, Dastardly Villains, and Daring Escapes ★★★★
Aztec Autumn ★★★★
Swallow: A Tale of the Great Trek ★★★
A good month!
I finished The Windup Girl, but I didn't like it.I'm feeling pretty slumpish and wanting a book I'll love. Maybe Babel, Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution will be that book.
