Ok, that’s a strong argument. I’m impressed.

Forget about the parents, they really don’t want anything to do with this argument. They probably wanted to make a shopping list, and then added the item after hearing from person A without specifying who it is meant for. So I don’t think they have anything to do here.

My defense for person B is that she was absent the whole time, so she couldn’t add her item. If she was, then she probably would. Person A also knew that (that person B was absent !). So in this sense, it is bit unfair for person B.

What’s your opinion on that ?

That's the thing, if it weren't for person B's entitlement and selfishness I probably would have chosen neither side. I think the parents should give both children separate stashes of chocolate to ensure there's no confusion as to what belongs to who and to avoid miscommunication. Then the children could decide whether they wanted to share/trade or not amongst each other.

message 103: by MoonLight (new)

MoonLight | 1519 comments Oh come on of course she'd want some. They shared any other chocolates before. Now she requests a special one for herself. Person B would want to know what's the difference between these, so even out of curosity she'd want some. I think it's a discussion of kindness. Everyone expects person A to be kind enough and share her special chocolate with her sister. But I guess if she doesn't want to, it could be respected. But we know that it won't be respected normally.

MoonLight wrote: "Their siblings! it's completely normal to ask from your sibling to share something with you. As they always do."

Yes, but that doesn’t mean person A has to share. They are other stuff which are meant for both of them other than this specific item.
Person A really wants the item, should she share ?

I think that person A should not be responsible for person B's absence or wants. Would it be the nice and thoughtful thing to do to share or ask her parents to buy more for her sister? Yes, but she doesn't have to do that. Person B is entitled for expecting her to do that, and considering the shopping is a regular thing they do, she could have told her parents she wanted some beforehand?

I just love the difference in both of your approach..
I also love how the parents can solve this problem in an instant but they probably won’t.

I wonder if someone has a completely different opinion ?

Hahahaa…😂 definitely spoken from true experience. I can somewhat relate to that, it’s even a nice coincidence that we both have the same name.

I also love how you acknowledge that person A is selfish, and there is nothing wrong with that. That was like the biggest argument against her, and you just brushed past that. I, of course, don’t completely agree but I still respect that.

I guess in person B’s support, I’ll say that it is wrong for person A to not share her chocolates when literally it was shared 50-50 in the past. So, now it is not going to be shared because she said she wanted it before hand ?

Also, the rest of the items bought are definitely going to be shared equally between them but person A gets extra items simply because she made a special request (which by the way was done in person B’s absence ). She didn’t contribute anything to get that extra item (her parents went and bought it).
So it is pretty unfair on person B from a logical side.

As for the emotional side, as pointed by @Moonlight, they are family after all. Sharing is expected within family, so person A is putting that aside and being selfish.

So, I guess you are on person A’s side , assuming your opinion didn’t change ?

Hello everyone !

Thanks for participating in this debate. I loved seeing different opinions and reasoning. Apparently, they are 3 people supporting person A and 2 people supporting person B. I guess, that says a lot about ownership and boundaries.

As for this hypothetical situation, it’s 100% based on petty fights me and my sister used to have before. Sometimes I was person A and sometimes I was person B. One time I was so petty as person A, that I paid the money for some biscuits just so that I didn’t have to share with my sister.
Oh god, now I cringe at how petty I used to be 😬.

By the way, out of curiosity I asked my sister’s opinion on this debate. I started by saying ‘don’t take this personally..’ and I asked her about who she will side with.
You know what my sister did ? She refused to give her opinion. After I insisted, like a lot, she was like ‘that depends on the brand of chocolate and ..who is person A and B’ ( I said not to take it personally !!!)

So, I was like ‘Fine, what if I am person A ? What’s your opinion ?’

…she still refused to give her opinion 🤦‍♀️.

Lol, I probably should.

I can’t believe we used to fight over chocolates and snacks. Now we don’t obviously, we would just share or maybe we will compromise by getting other item more. Doing stuff like sensible people.

Also, I probably shouldn’t blame my sister for not giving her opinion when even I don’t know who to side with. Like, if I am person A then I support person A and same with person B.

I think one thing I can agree upon is that both person A and B are petty persona from my past which I am glad to get rid of.

Hello everyone ,

When did you all realize covid was serious ? By ‘serious’, I mean like a serious threat where ever you live. I’m sorry if this is a sensitive topic !

For me, I think it was like a couple months after new year ? (Not sure)

Anyway, the situation where I lived (UAE) at like the announcement of COVID-19 was very tense at beginning. That was short while because China is like far away and for now, there were no cases outside of east Asia , so people calmed down pretty quick. Also, the symptoms weren’t severe and the death rate was like 1%.

And then it happened…first case in UAE. Again more panic but not for long. Everything was under control, the govt was trying their best and monitoring all the flights from east Asia.

So, I wasn’t panicked at all. Because like I said, there were barely handful of cases and govt was very very in control - for every one person infected, they will check at least 20 people who were suspected of contact.

So, everything is good..at most there were 10 people , half of them almost recovered. I was thinking that it is probably an outbreak which will get over quickly…I was wrong, obviously.

One day, a whole class in my sister’s school got shut down because the parent of one of the students came back from Italy and was tested positive.
And I was like …shiiit, this is serious !!!

That’s when I realized COVID is serious and it is gonna stay for a long time. It wasn’t soon when COVID cases rose to around 300, then 500, and then..you know the rest.

What about you guys ?

message 116: by Ishika (new)

Ishika (owlishish) | 193 comments Tbh for me it got serious when my class 10 board exams (which are very important in my country) got cancelled. It never happened and everyone I knew was calling each other to check if it was true or not.

YEAH ! I remember that, it was such a huge deal.

There was this whole demand for cbse to cancel the boards, which they weren’t ready to do because of it’s crappy marking system.

I was convinced that no matter how bad covid gets, cbse will never cancel their boards. Then, one morning it got announced that boards are cancelled and marking system is changed. My sister came from school (she was in 10th grade) and was like ‘boards are cancelled !’.

Covid did that, cancelled the whole board exams which is like a huge milestone in Indian curriculum.
When was the last time the boards were cancelled anyway ?

Hello everyone,

So I just came back from India a week ago and had like one test done there and one test done here (UAE) and both of them came out negative. But I’m still in home quarantine, since I am an international arrival.

Now, here’s the thing. I have cold, blocked nose, sore throat, wet cough and constant sneezes. So I’m kinda scared I’m infected, though the chances are very low.
I just took one mandatory covid test yesterday. So I’m pretty nervous and scared ! The results are probably coming today afternoon or evening or maybe even night.

And the suspense is killing me.
Wish me luck !

Symptoms are a bit different for everyone for some reason ?
Like my cousins were also tested positive but they only had common cold symptoms. No change in taste or smell.
And my other relatives didn’t even have those symptoms but they still tested positive.

So I’m not sure. But like I said, chances are low !

I’m still scared. Also, I’m finally at the end of home quarantine, I hope I don’t back into quarantine.

Oh yeah everyone, fall alarm. The test results came and all of us are negative.

It is such a relief, I was genuinely concerned. Also, I could keep up with covid and the quarantine but not with my father’s scolding.

He is a bit overly cautious in this covid matter, and since going to India was my mother’s plan , we wouldn’t have heard the end of his lecture.

But everything is fine except I still have this stupid cold and probably won’t eat ice cream and cold drinks for a long time 🥲.

As much terrifying covid alone is, I was more concerned about quarantine for another 10 days with my family. My father would already be irritated. Can you imagine 10 more days with my father who is gonna lecture us everyday about covid ?

Yeah, that’s the real scare.
Also, the govt here is very strict. They literally made us wear non-removable track watch to monitor our location and make sure we are following quarantine rules.
So yeah, would love to get rid of this track watch.

By the way, my dark chocolate cupcake with white chocolate frosting were amazing paired with hot coffee. If my photography skills weren’t shit, I’ll posting there picture here.

Stay safe, everyone ❤️

Hello everyone,

Feel like it’s been a while since I’ve talk to anyone here. How is everyone doing ?

I would love to share some spooky experiences which inspired me to write my short story ( pls check it out, it’s in the submission thread !). But before I do , I would like to inform that there is NO ghosts or anything supernatural in these stories. These are just my sleep paralysis episodes and nothing else

Ok ! Let me start !

I don’t know when exactly it started but I first realized it after my high school graduation. Ok, my sense of time is kinda blurred after graduation, so I don’t know exactly when but I think I was 18 ?

So, I was sleeping alone in my room which I usually share with my sister. But that night she had slept in another room and I was alone. I slept fine but …suddenly in the middle of night, I felt a kick below.

I don’t know how to describe the kick, it was more like someone just hit my back ? And suddenly I lose control of my body.
It felt like someone was possessing me. I even felt like maybe I died and my soul is separated from my body. Because my whole body was completely numb and foreign and ..it felt like something heavy had settled over me.

I tried my best to scream but I couldn’t at all. Like seriously, i could feel myself trying to move my mouth but I simply couldn’t.

I really really don’t know to describe that feeling but it was really scary and horrifying.
And then …I regained control , finally. My body still felt a bit heavy but I could move it.

At first, I was scared to death. I felt like I just fought a possession. It took me a while to sleep back and I was too scared .

This extremely scary phenomenon which feel like possession isn’t possession but something called a sleep paralysis.

message 137: by Unknown, Bookish & Jobless (last edited Aug 30, 2021 05:30AM) (new)

Unknown Reader | 3670 comments Mod
So, about sleep paralysis.

In simple words, it’s a phenomenon where your body is asleep but your mind is awake. Therefore, it feels like you have lost control of your body.
But if I have to describe it, then I’ll say it feels like possession.

And my sleep paralysis didn’t stop there and it felt different every single time it happened.

Sometimes, I hear some buzzing whispers. It’s kind of like someone is saying something to me very fast. Sometimes, I feel like someone is pulling my leg and dragging me down, while I try to hold on…but couldn’t control my body. Sometimes, it feels like an earthquake is coming and I’m gonna die.
Sometimes I really do feel like dying. It’s like my soul is getting dragged away from my body .I feel like I’m dying and my soul is being extracted.

Sometimes, it is none of that but it feels like something extremely heavy is placed upon my whole and I can’t move at all.

How did I find out it’s sleep paralysis ? Because my eldest sister also used to have it.

I checked online and the remedies include…reducing stress and anxiety. That’s not helpful at all.

Anyway, I don’t know how to exactly describe my feelings. It is really scary. At the time of it happening, I am not aware of ANYTHING. it’s only when it’s over that I know it’s sleep paralysis and I’m finally calm.

It doesn’t happen often though, but it is very random and sporadic.
Like I might have it in a few days or few weeks. I have no idea when.
It didn’t happen for a long time actually,
But then it happened recently…and I’m scared of sleeping now.

So yeah, the short story is heavily based on my sleep paralysis episodes. As for actual supernatural experience, there is one but that’s story for another day.

How about you guys ? Have you ever experience sleep paralysis or anything spooky ?

Hey, And let me start off by saying I had sleep paralysis like yesterday (School stress)
So, first of all, I was a ball in my dream, I opened my eyes and I was still there but half (it's so weird so explain, idk but I had thoughts from my dreams but I somehow knew it was a dream but I was also awake) and my cat also started making noises. And thankfully, that brought me back to my sense and I woke up and took her she stopped.
And then after some time, I was in my room and it was blurry and spinning?? And then I was at that ball again and I was almost hearing voices "people love us" or smth, I don't remember exactly and then I started hearing cat noises again? And then it continued like that for some time and finally at around 4:30, I woke up, went to the toilet, and prayed a little bit before doing to sleep. It was scary af even though it wasn't that bad

I’m very sorry Elena , I know this was probably very scary but I can’t help think this is kinda funny ?

Sorry, I have a very weird humor ! 😖.

But come on, you were a ball in your dream and then you woke up thinking everything is fine …and then you find out you are ball again ? That’s …funny, sorry !

Also, I really really don’t want to invalidate your experience…..but that’s a nightmare.
It is kinda..different from sleep paralysis.

Though it could be that I’m wrong and missing something, but nightmare is different from sleep paralysis.
