Adam Sanderson | 1 comments Hi Everyone

I’ve been part of the group for a while but haven’t posted 🙈. I love reading, gardening, a bit of cartography and playing RPGs.

The most recent series I’ve read were The Broken Empire and The Riftwar Saga, polar opposites when considering the genre of fantasy - I really enjoy all things otherworldly, magic and made up creatures.

I’m currently reading book 4 in Malazan Book of the Fallen and book 2 of the Riyria Revelations. The 2 last series in my TBR pile then I’m onto reading with some groups 😁.

My absolute favourite book is a hard one, I would probably gravitate towards The Name of the Wind - but anything in the Stormlight Archive (or that grander cosmere gets me really excited).

Speak to you all soon.

Adam

Cocoa by candlelight (cocoabycandlelight) | 2 comments Hi everyone! I'm u/ma-mo-ru or cocoabycandlelight 😊 I'm here because I have difficulties bonding with people irl and reading books with someone is a safe and contained way for me to bond.
I'd love to both read with this group and maybe do buddy reads with people who are interested in a 1-1 buddy reading. I tend to gravitate towards books that make me feel safe, like cosy SFF, or if heavier topics are discussed, I like it for them to be discussed in a mindful and kind way. Currently reading The goblin emperor and Rogue Princess (the first one being more my kind). I recently finished The graveyard book, The last cuentista and Elantris (which was a DNF simply because of timing, not due to lack of enjoyment).
I hope everyone here is doing well and thank you to whoever created this space.
Please look me up if you'd like to buddy read with me! Or just discuss books.

Chantaal Hello! I'm u/melloniel on Reddit, though I'm more of a lurker on the sub. Hoping to participate more as part of book clubs!

message 405: by Pedro (new)

Pedro | 1 comments Hello! I'm /u/pensa89 on Reddit and I'm a long time lurker on the sub.

I'm trying to reacquire the habit of reading books after a hiatus and I'm also in this group to read the monthly books and to gather some recomendations.

Morgan | 1 comments Hi, my Reddit ID is MorganMeader and I was a big time reader a long time ago and trying to get back into reading a lot more. I mean, I read constantly but it’s been a while since I read a steady diet of fiction. As I write this I’m reading The Mote in God’s Eye(which I have read before)and Hell House(which is my first bonafide horror novel). I came in to the group too late for Orcanomics and still getting my bearings. I plan to read the Goodreads book of the month selection and the short stories selections each month from the r/fantasy subreddit book clubs…

message 407: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 1 comments AshMeAnything here! I joined the book club initially for the hard mode square on Bingo, but I am also looking forward to having an actual discussion (as opposed to reading strangers' reviews and not getting to ask why they felt that way). Pretty excited about the upcoming choices and looking forward to more being announced!

message 408: by Sara (new)

Sara (sara_tassoni) Hi everyone!
Here is Sara and I am from Italy. My id on Reddit is u/adruidwholovessun. I came across this group through reddit even though I am not very active there.

I use Goodreads to discover new books, read reviews of books I am interested in, getting to know more people, and participate in buddy reads as well.

Looking forward to nice discussions and reading together :)

message 409: by Billy (new)

Billy (becthree) | 1 comments Hello all,
My name is Billy, and I'm u/BEC3 on Reddit. I mostly lurk and read discussions, which I do enjoy despite not actively participating. I've been making my way through this year's Book Bingo to expand my reading and occasionally chip away at the big IRL physical TBR pile spread throughout my house. Hoping to be halfway through it by the end of the year, but enjoying it all the same.

message 410: by Elythrim (new)

Elythrim | 1 comments Hello! I'm Elythrim, I've been on goodreads sometime and I've been searching for fantasy related groups to make friends and expand my taste. I'd like to start doing challenges on 2024 so I thought the book bingo would be great! For now I'm still trying to get through my looong tbr, and I mostly lurk but I'll try to participate more!

I'm totally new to reddit but here's my user: u/Elythrim. Would love to add friends if we have similar tastes so we can share our opinions or maybe do some buddy reads!!

My latest 5 star is "Tress of the Emerald Sea" by Brandon Sanderson and I'm currently reading The Hobbit by Tolkien :)

message 411: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Almeida (biaalper) | 1 comments Hi! I've just discovered about the bookclubs and I loved them! I read mainly fantasy/sci-fi/ scientific non-fiction! I'm not often active in reddit at all but for book reasons I'll give it a try.
I'm /u/biaalper

Welcome, Bianca.
Remember: keep to the rules. Also keep your back to the wall and your eye to the keyhole. watch your hat and coat and stay on the path keeping hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times. Also ignore me I just like to say this sort of thing to newcomers. It's harmless. Probably harmless.
Welcome, again.

message 413: by Katrina (new)

Katrina (unwrittensoul) | 1 comments Good Morning,

I have just joined the group. I recently found the book challenge and thought I would try it. I am also doing the Popsugar challenge. I am u/Leather-Camera-5233 on Reddit.

I am currently reading Witch King and Fireborne.

message 414: by Anne (new)

Anne Dyari | 1 comments Hello! I'm u/Californianfalconer on reddit and am in full swing for my Book Bingo 2024!

I love fantasy and scifi, especially stories that delve into ecology!

I'm currently working on my Space Opera (HM) square: Diving into the Wreck by Kristine Kathryn Rusch, a scifi about exploring abandoned ships and "old" technology.

message 415: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle Martinez | 1 comments Hi!

I'm u/YzabellM on reddit.
Trying r/Fantasy Bingo for the first time. Just finished Rythm of War by Brandon Sanderson, and it neatly applied to "Multiple POV" (HM).

I read a lot of Fantasy and sci-fi. But also mystery and romance... I guess I read everything :)

Looking forward to participate in the bookclub.

message 416: by Quirine (new)

Quirine | 1 comments Hi! I am /u/quirinelaetitia on Reddit! I comment on posts sometimes but I’m mainly a lurker. I just love recommending Brian McClellan’s series to everyone that wants to hear me. Feel free to add me! I don’t have many friends that actually read, no matter how hard I try to get them to, so I would love to have some more people to show up on my page sharing what they thought of this book or that! I only got back into reading about a year ago and I prefer fantasy over everything, but I also need to get through some other genres for school.

message 417: by Joanna (new)

Joanna | 1 comments Hi All,
u/nysanarysa on reddit.

I joined mainly because couple of months ago I had discovered fantasy bingo challenge, in my reading journey I quite enjoy various challenges which help me discover new things to read, sometimes outside of my comfort zone. Now I found the book club and I feel that this is definitely something I want to try.

In regards to what I read, hm, I guess a little bit of everything, fantasy, sci-fi, romance, non-fiction, fiction, good mixture I suppose.

Looking forward to participate in the November discussions.

Participating in my first r/fantasy Bingo and figured I'd catch some friends here along the way. Add me to tune into my 10 word reviews✨

UserID: OdinSD

Happy to be here. Cheers mates.

message 420: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. | 1 comments Hi. I’m Amanda and recently rediscovered my love of reading as a coping mechanism in response to the election in November. Fantasy (even grim dark) sure beats the US these days. I originally joined to fill the hard BINGO square in the fantasy subreddit but stayed for the excitement of discovering new books and the ability to share that excitement with others.

message 422: by Sue (new)

Sue (stickthemwiththepointyend) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Sue, and I'm u/thisbikeisatardis.

I'm psyched to be working on my second year of bingo! I really enjoyed the light stretch of hunting down the right titles. The challenge made me cut back on my tv watching, which has been pretty great for my mental health since most popular shows lately are so dark: Although real talk I totally forgot about bingo until the end of January this year and scrambled to go through my read shelf to see how many squares I'd already filled. I had about half and then managed to fill out the whole card on hard mode with just a few weeks to spare. I'm going to try to do a whole queer card this year and hopefully also one that's all authors of the global majority, although some of these topics are a bit tricky! Might just have to do half and half. The last one in the series square is going to be hard to fill.

I've already read 71 books this year if I count some novelettes, and I'm really hoping to keep up the pace enough to pass 200, which is something I haven't done in a long time. I used to read a book a day as a kid.
Thanks f!
