Beatriz (btrz7) | 1 comments Hello,
I'm /u/green-harpy on reddit and I only have a couple of comments on /r/Fantasy, though I am an avid reader of discussions there. I joined mostly for recommendations and because I saw the Book of the Month for October and thought this would be a great place to read along.

Another writer?
Dammit! I was PROMISED an exclusive position here as 'Author Emeritus'.
Oh well.
Welcome, u/ThatDavidShaw!

message 354: by Raunak (new)

Raunak (rondune) | 1 comments allo allo folks, I'm u/RonDunE over on Reddit. I've been subscribed to r/Fantasy for many millennia and it is by far my favourite SF&F discussion board ever! My username is a reference not to the little known gem called Dune but an indication of my desire to join the The Dúnedain. I'm starting to read a lot more now that my life has somewhat stabilized, and would always love suggestions!

message 355: by Anniina (new)

Anniina | 1 comments I'm u/SilverPatronus, a long time fantasy reader and a lurker in r/Fantasy. I've been more active this year and for some reason only discovered Bingo Sheet this year and I'm having fun with it.

Susana Imaginário (chronodendron) | 1 comments Hi!

I'm on Reddit as /u/Chronodendron but I'm more active here than there. Feel free to add me :)

message 357: by Olle (new)

Olle Tolke | 1 comments Hi!

I'm u/Miskan, I recently rediscovered my love for reading fantasy after a 10-year hiatus. Just discovered r/Fantasy this summer, and have been enjoying the recommendations and discussions a lot! I am currently reading Wheel of Time, Mistborn (era 1) and Book of the Ancestor (all for the first time) and having a blast!

Feel free to add me :)

message 358: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (officialashleyfinnwilliams) | 1 comments Hi peoples! I'm /u/OfficialAFW. You may call me Ashley, or Ashley Finn if middle names are your thing!

I have a whole host of issues not the least of which is depression. The abyss nearly consumed me during this terrible year and convinced me to give up on my dream of completing a story very beloved to me, however I fought back and rose above all that dreary nonsense, managing to finally publish my debut novel which I'm sure some of you have seen me go on at length about. I sometimes think it's like the defining trait of my personality!

I joined this group a little while back but as I struggle to force myself to be more social I've been focusing on reddit and slowly easing myself into wrapping my head around goodreads. I figured it was about time I stop in here and say hello!

I'm as pressed for cash as an old lemon for juice, but I'm hoping 2021 will be a better year and that I will be able to participate in group reads and book of the month discussions.

Feel free to add me to your friend list here, especially if we've already met on /r/Fantasy. I've made a few friends there already and you all are awesome. :)

With utmost sincerity,

Ashley

Lia (booksmores) Heyo, I’m u/conquerorofbooks1 and absolutely love epic fantasy. I’ve only recently started reading more of adult high fantasy. It’s a slow progress, but coming along nicely :)

message 364: by Rinaldo (new)

Rinaldo (valgranaire) | 1 comments u/valgranaire here

I'm quite active in r/fantasy although it single-handedly has been keeping me broke since circa 2016. Too many great recs.

My favourite genre is science fantasy and secondary world urban fantasy. You'll see me shilling a lot for Hainish Cycle, Craft Sequence, The Brightest Shadow, and on rare occasions, Malazan.

message 365: by K.K. (new)

K.K. Weakley | 1 comments I joined because I am interested in what people are reading and the chance to get into the book of the month for my newest SAGA. My profile is K.K.Weakley - real name Karen (Kelly) Weakley. Still trying to figure out if the 'Giveaways' are worth the money that is spent, but I look forward to seeing what happens.
I comment of posts that relate to me, and ones that make me laugh.

message 371: by Jay (new)

Jay (treeofworlds) Hey there! I'm u/TreeOfWorlds on reddit. I've lurked on the sub for a while now, and decided to participate in the bingo this year to give some books a try that maybe I wouldn't normally pick up.

message 372: by Juliette (new)

Juliette (julietteelizabeth) Hey there - u/Housewife-AK here. I am an avid audiobook lover and average close to a book a day thanks to ample time during my workday and hobby time to listen.

I'll listen to just about anything except horror (my nightmares don't need extra fuel); but magic/fantasy are my favorites. I love it when I find an author that has a new twist to their interpretation of how magic works.

message 373: by Derek (new)

Derek Nelsen | 1 comments I'm ncvikingnc, I'm a writer and like to read the comments and upvote mostly. Reddit is an addiction I really need to break. Too much time there and not enough time in books. Glad to be here!

message 374: by Steven (new)

Steven (stevenrudybooks) | 1 comments Greetings, my name is Steven. I go by http://www.reddit.com/u/ShadowynBlade/ on reddit. mostly upvoting with some posting. My engagement there and here is very sporadic. However, I love fantasy books and have been an avid reader starting about 15 years ago. Before that I read mostly sci-fi.
I have been busy writing my own fantasy book which I excited to release soon, because my TBR list is getting out of control.

Montzalee Wittmann (montziew) I am totally new to reddit. My son sends goofy things to me so. I have a user name of BookBuster65. I have lurkered around trying to get a feel of it but I am very green. I wanted to get more book ideas so I thought I would join.

Daphne | 1 comments Hello! I just joined Reddit, username Cynical_Madonna. I used to be a big reader and enjoyed creative writing a few years ago, but life got too busy. Got myself a Kindle reader so I'm hoping to get back into it. I'm excited for new book recommendations and meeting other book lovers

message 377: by Julia (new)

Julia Kolgriv (jakolgriv) | 1 comments Hi, I'm u/maybe_from_jupiter. I go through phases of being on the subreddit a lot, then disappearing for a few weeks. When I am on there, I mostly lurk and upvote, but also occasionally comment. I loved taking part in last year's bingo and this year I've challenged myself to complete a card in hard mode.

Fantasy is my favourite genre, but I've been also dabbling in sci-fi the past year. Aside from reading, I write (also fantasy) and do art. I'm very excited to take part in my first book of the month discussion in this group for The First Sister!

message 378: by Diana (new)

This year I feel like I have so many books to read and I'm just so excited :D

message 379: by Nolan (new)

Nolan Vallier | 0 comments Hi I’m u/nolard12. I’ve been on Reddit for a long time, mostly contributing to the comments section and online discussions. I’m a long time reader of fantasy but thought I’d try my hand at Bingo this year. I recently finished my degree and have made more time for free reading, so if you check out my reading lists you’ll see a fair bit of non-fiction related to my research. I’m also a father and have tried to keep track of the books I’ve read with my daughters.

Jason Koivu | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm Jason. I've been on GR since '08 and on the Reddit sub for, I think, about two years. I'm Koivu_JR over there, but I don't say much, just peruse. I've gotten some solid recommendations doing so, so I figured joining this group wouldn't be a bad thing, lol! Thanks for having me!

message 392: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1 comments Hi everybody!

I'm joining the group after participating in the 2021 book bingo. And, of course, now I need more books for my 2022 cards. Most of the books I choose will be previous book club books, but since I want to complete at least 1 Hard Mode square, I will need to read and participate in a discussion. So, here I am, introducing my extremely introverted self who mostly lurks and absolutely HATES having to participate in group discussions... This should be fun.

I read lots of fantasy, science fiction, middle grades, and young adult novels...and I do mean lots. I completed 11 bingo cards for last year's bingo with the books I read between May (when I discovered the bingo) and January... I try to leave a short review for all the books I do read, so if you want to peruse them for ideas.

Oh yeah! My username on Reddit name is Briarrose1021.

message 393: by Rhett (new)

Rhett | 1 comments Hey team!

This is a rather belated intro, but I am a long time /r/fantasy lurker who has been try to engage more during the past year following retrenchment. This will be my third bingo and will be my attempt at a full hard mode card.

I have a long history with primarily fantasy reads, having been scared off of pursuing SciFi after ironically bouncing extremely hard off of Harlan Ellison's oeuvre in the mid-90s as an angsty teenager, with only the brilliant Saga of Pliocene Exiles and The Galactic Milieu Series maintaining a peripheral interest until being drawn back by Tad Williams and his inestimable Otherland series in the early 2000s, mainly enticed due to my love of the Memory, Sorrow & Thorn series combined with a new-found interest in Cyberpunk.

Fantasy-wise I was raised with parents who passed on a collection of LOTR, Raymond E. Feist and Stephen R. Donaldson. The Deathgate Cycle and the Darksword trilogy also earning a special place in my heart.

My Goodreads library before 2017 is an extremely imperfect history at best, likely several hundred short, but that being said, on Reddit I am u/x_plateau, nice to meet you! I love Realm of the Elderlings, Wayfarers and love loving things!

Mary King (maryk13) | 1 comments Quick intro before I join in a discussion for the 2022 HM Bingo square "Book Club OR Readalong Book". I'm AggressiveGlitter over on Reddit.

Have been a member of the group for a year or two and usually lurk and upvote so it'll be nice to get into a convo with you guys finally. Thanks for the great work!

message 395: by Erika (new)

Erika | 1 comments Hello! been lurking for a while and finally decided to introduce myself. I'm lynndragonetti on reddit. I'm joining this book club to try to read a more diverse set of books and find people to discuss them with since most of my fellow irl readers do not read scifi or fantasy.

message 396: by Amy (new)

Amy | 1 comments Hi friends,
I’m fairly new to Reddit but always looking to find more good reads and fellow book lovers. On Reddit I’m SashaPurrs05682.
I love sci-fi and fantasy, but tend to have a hard time finding new books to love, especially beyond youth & young adult.
I want to lose myself in a world, and not even be aware that I’m reading a book as I’m reading the book, but for that to happen I need gorgeous prose, witty dialogue, deeply dimensional characters, & an utterly believable world with no continuity errors & logic gaps. A big ask, I know!
So in the meantime, I enjoy watching Doctor Who and Good Omens with my daughter.
I would also like to try writing some science fiction and fantasy of my own… perhaps inspired by the Doctor Who episodes that take place in Victorian London, since I also love London & historical fiction & Philip Pullman’s Sally Lockhart trilogy.
Anyhow, greetings & salutations!
I look forward to learning about books you all love!

Raymond Elmo (raymondstelmo) | 11 comments Katya wrote: "Hi everyone,

Greetings, ImmortalsAreLiers!

Name cards are at the front, donuts are at the back. Wander around, get a feel for when someone is posting a serious review of a work as opposed to inserting 'This just didn't work for me' one more time into the internet. At all times remember books are our servants, not our masters; because sometimes readers get confused; and writers, frankly, make stuff up fast as the immortals.
As said previously: welcome!

message 399: by S (new)

S | 1 comments Hey all, on reddit I'm applestoapplesauce. I joined the bingo challenge late (beginning of August) but I'm excited to see if I can make it anyway!
I love reading, but I've been in a slump for a long time, so I hope the Bingo challenge can get me out of it. It's been fun to pick my books and comb over all of the rec lists from people.
Over the last couple years, I've just been slowly making my way through Discworld, usually whenever I'm in a bad place since they always cheer me up.

I might be pretty quiet, but I do read a lot of discussions and enjoy them. I'll definitely try to participate myself!

message 400: by Matthew (new)

Matthew | 1 comments Hello! Apparently I’ve been a Goodreads member for a decade, though honestly I had forgotten about it long ago until
I clicked the link to here from Reddit, as I’ve never really used the app. I read a lot but never really talk much about books I read. Since COVID, fantasy/sci-fi have been an escape/“guilty” pleasure. I thought it might be nice to chat about it once in a while (something completely different for me). I think my favorite epic fantasy novel is Robin Hobbs’ Assassins Apprentice, along with all of the related books that followed, especially the Liveship trilogy. But there are many other series and genres in this broad category that I’ve enjoyed reading, including a fair amount of urban fantasy. I think Seanan McGuire is my favorite urban fantasy author at the moment, though i like Jim Butcher a lot too. I also think Laini Taylor is an incredibly talented and creative writer, even though her books are mostly aimed at younger audiences than me. Anyway, enough of that for now. I’m mindfulbanter on Reddit (just joined there).
