Thanks! I work in an cube with little privacy and have lots of noisy cube neighbors so I have been pretty much continuously listening to audio books at my desk for the past 9 months lol.

It makes the time pass a lot quicker and I am much more productive. Plus it lets me play fantasy bingo as you noted slowing working my way through the /r/fantasty top 100 list while I'm at work.

Jon Hello all, I'm Jon aka /u/Sir_SamuelVimes on Reddit. I've started posting around frequently in the last few months and check the threads most every weekday.

The /r/Fantasy bingo challenge is what led me here and what I've mostly been working on since April. I'm not sure I'll participate much in the monthly book reads and discussions, but I'd like to keep tabs on what everyone is reading and enjoying. Plus I hop on this site several times a day and it's nice to see fellow Redditors using it.

On Goodreads I try to log a brief, clumsily-worded review from my convoluted thoughts on each book I finish. I'm a reader, not a writer.

Feel free to add me as a friend! As I said, I like to see what everyone else is reading.

message 55: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 2 comments Hi there. I'm Cheryl as in /u/cherylreads. I live in Bakersfield CA and work at the university here doing research & statistics. I have been reading since age 3 and never looked back.

Glad to see you all here too. *waves hi to Jon*

message 56: by Jon (new)

Jon Hey! Nice to see you on here.

message 57: by Apinya (new)

Apinya (lskywalker918) | 1 comments Hello everyone. I'm /u/LSkywalker918 on Reddit. Been lurking here for a while and jave now decided to post something and join the discussion. I love reading and sometimes dabble in a little writing of my own. I also enjoy escaping reality into a fantasy world.

@Cheryl I'm currently living in Bakersfield too!

message 58: by Pinkie_pie (new)

Pinkie_pie | 7 comments Hi everyone! I'm /u/PinkiePie_Pansycake, I don't post so often, I mostly lurk.
It's been almost a year now that I'm exploring fantasy worlds and I discovered reddit when I was looking for more details on the books I read.
Mark Lawrence's "Broken Empire" and Joe Abercrombie's "First Law" are my two favourite series so far!
I'm happy to find more fantasy readers and I'm excited to be reading with you.

Haven't checked this thread in a while - I'll be at Worldcon, hanging out with some of the cool folks from r/fantasy. I think elquesogrande (Steve Drew) will be organizing some kind of r/fantasy get together, so it'll be fun to put names to faces in real life as well.

message 60: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 2 comments Hey all!

I'm /u/Salaris. I post pretty often over in /r/fantasy these days, as well as occasionally in various gaming subreddits. (I'm a game designer for Obsidian Entertainment.)

I'm a big fan of hard magic stuff. I'm also currently catching up on a bunch of the writing by other /r/fantasy authors - we've got some great authors on the subreddit.

message 61: by Ashe (new)

Ashe Armstrong (ashearmstrong) I'm that annoying /u/ashearmstrong guy who's always yelling about orcs and weird westerns.

Joel - Awesome! I look forward to meeting everyone in person! :)

message 63: by K.S. (new)

K.S. | 2 comments Hi, I'm /u/ksvilloso. I don't post too often although I lurk a lot. Love the in-depth discussions and the fantasy recommendations...I think the reddit group is responsible for the sudden spike of fantasies in my reading list this year.

message 64: by Luke (new)

Luke | 6 comments I just saw this thread pop up in my notifications, so even though I've been in this group for a while, I'll introduce myself. I'm /u/wanna-be-writer on reddit. I tend to get on in spurts, depending on how much I have going on in real life. I run a disaster restoration company so my hours are all over the place, leading to a sometimes severe lack of reading time.

message 65: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganokeefe) | 1 comments Ooh, we have an intro thread! I'm /u/MeganOKeefe now, and pre-author days was active as /u/caramelcoffee. Lover of Patricia A McKillip, NK Jemisin, Terry Pratchett, and coconuts.

message 66: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Jones (stridera) | 1 comments I'll join into the intro thread. I'm a software engineer/author from the SF Bay Area who loves reddit and the community. I'm /u/stridera and also a moderator of /r/fantasy. I'm probably one of the less active moderators, but I hope to spend more time helping out the community. I go to lots of conferences and spend a lot of time talking to authors trying to get them to join and do an AMA with us. Thanks for being a part of the community. :)

message 67: by Lee (new)

Lee Aarons (realmwalker) | 2 comments Hey everybody, my name is James Drake, aka Lee Aarons, and I am /u/Realmwalker on Reddit. I am the President of Realmwalker Publishing Group, a small press publisher that specializes in producing and distributing fantasy novels and anthologies.
When I am not weighing in on a wide variety of topics pertaining to the state of the genre and the business surrounding it, I am talking about my new favorites as well as the classics. Oh, and I occasionally find an outstanding author or two that I wish to publish lurking beside me on /r/Fantasy.
I love the sub and the people in it. The recommendation threads are a constant touchstone for me to the latest trends and new names in the genre, as well as a place where I get to share some of my experience and knowledge.
If anyone ever has a question, a recommendation, or a thought of an author I should look out for, please do not hesitate to let me know!

message 69: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1 comments Hi all, I'm /u/ludicrousfeline and I'm mostly a lurker. I've been in this group for a while but only recently have I been able to get back into reading, my kids are finally old enough to give me a bit of reading time here and there. I'm looking forward to getting involved with the monthly books and expanding my library.

message 70: by Deanna (new)

Deanna ✰ ☾ (purple-dragon) | 1 comments Hello! I am /u/withtwowings on reddit. Here on Goodreads I like to keep track of good books and especially ones that I would like to read - as if I need a longer to-read list, ah well - and in this group I would enjoy hearing other people's thoughts on fantasy books they have been reading. I don't post all too often, neither on reddit nor here, but when I do it's because I found something meaningful to share or respond to :)

message 71: by Mona (new)

Mona (angelic_alys) | 6 comments I'm angelic_alys on reddit, haven't used r/fantasy so much yet though. Stumbled over the bingo reading challenge today though, so I'll probably get more active from now :p

message 72: by S (new)

S Pearlyan (purplewidow) | 2 comments Hi, I am /r/soan on reddit. Mostly a lurker, but someone who loves making lists. I use Goodreads mainly to keep track of my reading and to make sure my TBR pile never gets small.

message 73: by Robin (new)

Robin Griffin | 1 comments hello all. I am /u/rogryphon on Reddit. I was the girl in school who kept to herself and had a thick book with a dragon or unicorn on the cover. I never grew out of it and I'm a proud fantasy reader. I love the author interactions and finding new stuff on Reddit so hello all.

message 74: by Brian (new)

Brian Rock Hubbard (kuponutter) | 1 comments Hi everyone, I'm /u/Kuponutter. I mostly browse on reddit and upvote stuff,I don't comment to often but i'm really looking forward to joining the monthly book discussion here and adding many new books to the ever growing TBR list :)

message 75: by Alex (new)

Alex (alexfedyr) I am /u/Alex_Fedyr

I've long been a fan of reddit, and I have been a fan of fantasy for much longer. Yet somehow I never came to /r/fantasy 'til now. Hmm :/

So tell me, aside from the usual "Noobies start here" pages, what do you think I should see?

Alex (alexfedyr) Thanks!

message 78: by Eric (new)

Eric (koteric) | 10 comments I started getting into reading often about 3 years ago after a friend gifted me the Mistborn Trilogy. Since I love science, as well as the idea of magic, the application/explanation of it in the series immediately interested me.

Outside of reading I work in Network Security, play the guitar/piano. I enjoy going to broadway musicals/Symphony. I listen to mostly Progressive Rock/Classical.

I joined with the intent on finding new books to read, and make some book friends along the way.

message 79: by Dyuthi (new)

Dyuthi (hellodobo) | 4 comments Hi, you guys :) I usually lurk on /r/Books and /r/Fantasy, although sometimes I contribute to recommendation threads :) My name is /u/amaladyformilady on reddit.
I'm looking forward to finding new reading material, and possibly participating in discussions! :)

message 80: by K.L. (new)

K.L. Dimago (kldimago) | 2 comments Hi everyone! I am actually new to reddit, but I'm excited to get involved. I am loving /r/Fantasy. My name on reddit is kldimago.

I enjoy reading anything that draws me in, particularly fantasy. I also enjoy music and movies. My first novel, Amethyst, was recently published.

I'm looking forward to group discussions and making friends!

message 81: by Katey (new)

Katey | 1 comments Hiya! I'm /u/starista on reddit! So many of the books I've read and loved are thanks to the recommendations I've found on /r/fantasy!

message 82: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 18 comments Hi! I'm SmallFruitbat on reddit. I have officially brushed the dust off my Goodreads account so I guess I'm basically required to join the BotM discussions now. And actually read them. (I read a lot.)

message 83: by Victor (last edited Dec 28, 2015 12:04AM) (new)

Victor | 22 comments I'm /u/OppositeFingat, a lurker mostly and I'm here to pick your brains for great fantasy reads. So far I've only read The Rook (absolutely loved it!) as Malazan keeps me busy most of the times but I have the Grace of Kings and Uprooted close by.

Unfortunately I'm too far behind on my list of reading to participate in the book of the month but in 6 months or so I hope I'll be more active in this cool group you're having.

message 84: by Will (new)

Will | 3 comments I am /u/RotWS, and most of the time I've participated when the BotM has been something I liked anyway, given how long it sometimes takes library books to show up.

message 85: by Christopher (new)

Christopher (esqinc) I'm mostly a lurker but I'm /u/karneisada

message 86: by Johan (new)

Johan Konings (vordoth) | 1 comments Mostly a lurker on /r/fantasy, but I appreciate the fantastic community so I wanted to be part of it. My reddit ID is /u/vordoth

message 87: by Jackie (new)

Jackie Gryder jr (jgryder) | 1 comments I'm /u/jgryder. looking for good reads friends

message 88: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (eliendriel) | 8 comments Hello! I'm /u/whatyu_c, and while I mostly lurk on /r/fantasy, I love reading the discussions and getting ideas for new books. I read a lot - love Tolkein, Weeks, Jordan, Sanderson, Sullivan, etc., but most of the fantasy that I prefer tends to be somewhat similar in theme and style. I joined this discussion group in order to expand my reading horizons, to get to know more people, and to hopefully have some insightful and engaging conversations.

message 89: by Lanko (new)

Lanko | 16 comments Hello there, I'm /u/Lanko8.

I mostly wander about in Fantasy Faction, starting on Reddit.

message 90: by David (new)

David (dfculver) Hello! I'm /u/ponderless

I mostly lurk, and found this through lurking. I have been interested in joining a book club for years and was happy to find this.

I'll read just about anything, currently working through Norwegian Wood and of course Beyond Redemption.

message 91: by Phillip (new)

Phillip | 2 comments Hi, I'm /u/InvalidExcuse, I mostly lurk.
I decided to keep better track of my reading this year, I want to complete the 50 books in 1 year challenge and I plan on using Goodreads to keep track.
I love fantasy, but I also enjoy sci fi, horror, thriller, and comedy.

message 92: by Andy (new)

Andy Reads | 1 comments Hi Andy,

message 93: by Traa (new)

Traa (mousebite) Hello! I'm /u/fleecy - I haven't been on reddit for a while, but this seemed like a good way to get some book recommendations for things I might enjoy! And who knows maybe I'll actually have something to say about some of them :)

message 94: by Maark (last edited Mar 15, 2016 12:57AM) (new)

Maark Abbott How do! My Reddit ID is Maark_Abbott.

Read fantasy and sci-fi, favourite authors are Erikson, Bakker, Abercrombie, Sanderson (unless it's SLA), currently reading Kate Elliott's Crown of Stars series (DIE, HUGH, DIE). My own debut is out in May.

If anyone here is on the Malazan Empire forums or Facebook group, or the bestfantasybooks forum, you'll already know me. How do.

message 95: by Jared (new)

Jared Shurin | 1 comments Hi all! I'm /u/pornokitsch (despite the name, I'm depressingly SFW).

I read everything, and my GR account is a hot mess, but that's what it is for, right?

message 96: by Adam (new)

Adam Woods Hi All, I'm /u/ReadsWhileRunning
I've read a lot of fantasy and dabbled in Sci Fi. I love listening to author interview and reading author's blogs.
Writing Excuses is my favorite podcast - even though I have no desire to be a writer.

message 97: by Jack (new)

Jack Lanigan | 9 comments Howdy howdy all, reddit name is hazabaza1. I mainly lurk (especially on GR) but I'll occasionally post something in the subreddit, and I try and leave a review for every book I read. Just started seriously reading mid-2015 so I'm still a bit behind compared to most people.

message 98: by Joel (new)

Joel Minty On Reddit I go by 'Malfarious' - a portmanteau word I created for 'malevolent' and 'nefarious' back in university. One day I hope to write a Terry Pratchet-esque fantasy comedy about a wizard named Malfarious J, but for now will settle for having my debut, Purge of Ashes, dropping in less than a month: April 5th.

Like Maark, I come from the Malazan Empire forums and Facebook group, as well as Fantasy Faction and Grimdark groups. I'm one of those who feels cool for reading A Song of Ice and Fire prior to the year 2000, and being likely one of, like, 50 people who bought the first edition board game :P

message 99: by Alexis (new)

Alexis Arrowsmith Hey all, /u/Aliase here, not particularly active on the subreddit, but you'll see me from time to time.

message 100: by Tiago (new)

Tiago Costa (kaiskov) | 1 comments I go by Kaiskov on Reddit. Don't really post all that much, but I occasionally lurk around when bored and in the need of something to amuse me.
