I'm reading Elizabeth and Her German Garden, and the Enchanted April by Elizabeth Von Arnim. I am reading that story as I have already read The Enchanted April. :)

Time to hunt down a new book.
Meredith wrote: "@Sadie what are some of your faves and may be we can help pick one similar?"@Meredith, sure, I'd love that. Let me know your faves too. There are some of the books I always come back to read again:
Seveneves by Neal Stephenson
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
Strangelets by Michelle Gagnon
A court of thorns and roses series by SJM
I tend to stick to fantasy/science fiction genre, but Midnight Library was more of magical realism than fantasy.
@Sadie have you tried From Blood and Ash the series by Jennifer L Armentrout. I'm currently on book 3 and my favorite series right is ACOTAR and this one reminds me of it.I can't help on the others because I haven't read anything similar at least according to Google. However, when I did Google books similar to these it led me to Goodreads shelves full of recs.
My favorites right now are fantasy and romance. I can't deal with negativity and anxiety in mysteries and thrillers right now.
Here is my favorite shelf is here.

@Meredith, I finished From Blood and Ash last week, and about to get the second one soon. ACOTOR is so good, great to re-read when you have nothing else to do.
I'll check your shelf out!

So far I'm really enjoying Elizabeth and Her German Garden. :) It sure is putting me in the mood for gardening, but I will have to wait for spring. :)
I've hit a bit of an annoying slump. I've been trying a few new authors and I've been utterly disappointed. I've been lucky with my KU choices until recently. I decided to pick up The Perfect First yet another new to me author but I've actually heard good things about this series so hopefully it lives up to those things.

Ughh, I hate when that happens. Hope this one ends the slump.

I fell down a Kindle Unlimited rabbit hole and read a bunch of romances. Sports romances, spicy romances; anything with a HEA and good characters really

HAHA, good for you. I'm finishing up I'll Keep You Safe by Peter May and then my books need to get packed. Then I am kindle bound for the next couple months.
Packing up books is devastating. My daughters are finding this to be very difficult too. I thought I was the only one making this emotional.

I'm currently reading The Ex Hex and I'm struggling with the POV. It's not obvious who the observer is and it is annoying me enough that I'm not enjoying it. Does this ever happen to anyone else?

Yes. Or that it bounces around so much you can't keep up.

Currently reading the Crave series. Tiktok got me to read it, and while the first took me a while to get through, the second made up for the first in many ways. Finished the second yesterday and now starting on the third.

Death in the Air: The True Story of a Serial Killer, the Great London Smog, and the Strangling of a City by Kate Winkler Dawson
I'm not sure how it happened that I evolved from literary fiction.

I just started reading Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. It is absolutely enchanting. I'm not too far in but already I am loving the story and glad that it's a series. I doubt I will be ready to say goodbye to the characters or Avonlea anytime soon.

I have lost track of how many times I have read this but it is never enough!!!

My sister lent Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy. It is amazing to have conservation, murder, and characters with dark secrets to flow into each other to make a very compelling book that I can't put down.

I've just finished "My Dark Vanessa" by Kate Elizabeth Russell. A very uncomfortable read. Just about to start on "Where the Crawdads Sing"

My best friend got Kingdomtide by Rye Curtis for himself and now I'm reading it from the library. It's about a plane crash with a sole survivor (in her seventies) and the park ranger determined to find her. It's sounds a little out there but it's got me hooked.

I stopped reading Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and am still rereading Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. I also just finished reading 3 hygge style cookbooks. My daughter and I loved them and want to purchase them all. :) Summer: A Cookbook: Inspired Recipes for Lazy Days and Magical Nights, The Campout Cookbook: Inspired Recipes for Cooking Around the Fire and Under the Stars, and The Snowy Cabin Cookbook: Meals and Drinks for Adventurous Days and Cozy Nights. These are all written by the same author: Marnie Hanel.

I looked those cookbooks up. They are adorable! and I think they should accidently find there way into my kitchen.

I'm at that rare spot where I only have 1 book going. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. I am finding hard to read more than a couple chapters at a time. I think there's just enough marital disconnect that I feel connected to the characters. I'm not escaping like I usually do in books with this one, that I need to have a second one going to switch back and forth. I just haven't decided what that one will be yet.

I had the same issue with Rebecca, when I read it last year... it's got a slow build up but it was very worth reading. I don't want to spoil anything.... Rebecca is a bee with a huge itch though, so is the head house keeper.

It is a slow build! I do not like the head housekeeper at all.

I'm very slowly reading Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. It's not exactly to my taste. I think I identify with the new Mrs. de Winter in a way. The qualities I see in her, that are similar, are the issues with confidence and feeling out of place. However, I don't take it to the extreme as her imagination takes her. I actually find my self wanting to scream at her.

Yes, I identified more with the new Mrs. de Winter also.... I get her feeling of intimidation and fear of making mistakes but I wanted to scream at her as well. She's very kind, charming and sweet... however the head house keeper is going out of her way to cause problems/make her feel bad for not "measuring up to Rebecca" and she just continues to take it. She's lady of the house and it is okay to own it by saying "that was THEN, this is my house and we're doing things this way NOW."

Exactly! I want to scream that and also scream that the head housekeeper is only HIRED help and that she has a lot at stake to lose especially if she loved Rebecca so much!

I read Rebecca last January and it is still so fresh in my mind!! I am now reading March: Book One by John Lewis.

You have to tell me if the Butterfly Garden is good. I have been back and forth with that one.
