Steven Meyer | 12 comments I'm brand new to the group. I haven't read classics in quite a while, but really wanted to get back into them. I'm going to do the bingo, but am also doing the old and new classics challenge. Because I started late, I'm doing 2 old school, 2 new school, 2 wildcard and 1 alternative. I've never done a challenge like this before. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can make it through. Here's my plan:

Old School 1899 and earlier:
1) Emma by Jane Austen
2) The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne

New School 1900-1999
1) The First Men in the Moon by H.G. Wells
2) On the Road by Jack Kerouac

Wild Card:
1) Mansfield Park by Jane Austen
2) The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie

Alternate:
1) The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

Shaina | 813 comments Welcome, Steven! I like your list. I read Mansfield Park and The Time Machine this year and plan to read Emma next month and reread The Mysterious Affair at Styles sometime this year.

Good luck with your challenge! I hope you enjoy all the books.

Terris | 4385 comments I think you're going to have fun with this challenge, Steven! You have a very nice list that looks very doable. You have lots of variety and at one book a month I think you'll get it done easily. And if you don't -- no problem -- add them to next year's list!! ;)
Enjoy and Welcome! :)

Kathleen | 5458 comments This is a great list, Steven. I love the combination of Austen and sci fi and a mystery and Keroac. You should have something for every mood!
