2015 - Readathon One Date: February 7th, 2015 - 4PM - 8PM - Check-In

Please let us know who is reading during these this period of time.

Let us know the following:

Name of Book and Author:
Genre:
Number of Pages Read - Start Page and Finish Page for this four hour period.
Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.
How much time did you read:
Did you complete any books:
What time zone are you in and where are you located.

So for example:

The Jewel in the Crown by Paul Scott
The Jewel in the Crown (The Raj Quartet, #1) by Paul Scott by Paul Scott Paul Scott - Genre: Historical Fiction - pages start 1 - finish 80

If you finished a book - let us know that too and make sure to get it added to your readathon shelf so you can get credit for it. If it is added properly it will show up on your shelf. You have to make sure to have selected a readathon shelf and when you are done with the first book for your readathon - make sure to add the completed date and that the book is read versus currently reading.

It will show up on your shelf if you have done this properly.

Remember wherever you are you can participate in the readathon.

And if you only have one hour or four hours or plan to do this for the entire 24 hour period taking of course breaks for eating and sleeping - you can join for however long you want to read. We want to keep track of the books completed, the books started, the books in progress, the number of pages read by all, and the different genres. Great fun and this is only the first readathon - we will use the same readathon challenge for all of them so you can see your readathon shelfs grow.

Additionally these books that you complete on the readathon can be added to other shelfs for the Japan or India challenge or the 2015 50 Books Challenge or the goodreads yearly challenge - the sky is the limit. Any genre is welcome.

Remember folks this is the check in for anybody reading during the hours of 4PM until 8PM on February 7th, 2015 (wherever in the world you are - use your time zone). If you want to get credit for any reading done during these four hours you must check in on this thread - Checkpoint 3. But for the check in to count - you must post between the hours of 4PM to 8PM on February 7th in the time zone that you are in. This is the Checkpoint for those hours on February 7th. To get credit for these hours this is the thread and CHECKPOINT you must post on. THIS IS CHECKPOINT 3

REMEMBER AT LEAST ONE CHECK-IN MUST REFLECT THE FOLLOWING TO BE COUNTED IN THE READATHON AND OF COURSE YOU MUST CHECK-OUT AT THE END.

Make sure to answer the following:

Name of Book and Author or books and authors:

Genre or genres:

Number of Pages Read - Start Page and Finish Page for this four hour period.

Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.

How much time did you read during this block of time:

Did you complete any books during this time frame and what were they?

Also, your location in the world and timezone

Powder River Rose (powderriverrose) | 26 comments I'm a little late recording for this although I did participate from the beautiful Oregon coast-Pacific Time and I really started about 3:30pm, so basically crossed over 3 timeframes. I apologize for the delay.

Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver by Barbara Kingsolver Barbara Kingsolver (unabridged version)

Genre or genres: Fiction, Literary Fiction, Environmental/Nature

Number of Pages Read: This is a little more difficult to answer as I only listen to audiobooks. But I will attempt a little math here.
I started at the beginning and listened for 7 hours 25 min with only limited (few minutes each) breaks, so let's say 7 1/4 hours and the story is 16 hrs and 56 min in duration.
In the book version there are 436 pages.
So if I did my calculations right it should be: 186.32 pages

Did you complete any books during this time frame?: No

Excellent book. I look forward to the April 18th Readathon.

OK that is fine but you need to make sure to do the following:

First, post what you think you did for each time frame that you crossed over.

That means that you should post responses to the following in each of the three time oriented Check In's.

These are the questions to be answered in each of the three:

Name of Book and Author:
Genre:
Number of Pages Read - Start Page and Finish Page for this four hour period.
Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.
How much time did you read:
Did you complete any books:
What time zone are you in and where are you located.

And finally to get any credit at all you need to check out.

There is only one Check Out thread and this is the link: - this is MANDATORY

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...--

Here is a note that I sent to everyone making sure they understood that there was a different template that we used for the Check out thread which is the totals thread. You must post on at least one Check in thread and more if you want credit for more time blocks and the totals must be placed on the MANDATORY Check out thread not on a Check In thread like you did above - although Check In threads are mandatory for credit too. Here is the helpful note - I will post it on your thread as well:

Here is a helpful note that I am sending to everyone (just changing the name): - this way folks have a template at their disposal when they do check outs in the future and if they have not done their Check Out for this readathon - this template is a good one to use now:

I have included the link in the note to the Check Out thread:

Thank you Powder River Rose - have you done your tallies and checked out? All readathon participants must check out. Here is what Simon did for his checkout and I think this is a pretty compact way of doing your tallies if you have not already done them. This is the MANDATORY CHECK OUT THREAD.

This is the link for this thread:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I replicated his post here:

The Nixon Defense What He Knew and When He Knew It by John W. Dean by John W. Dean John W. Dean

Final Tally - 105 pages (all books)
Total Time Reading 2.45 hours
Total Checkpoints Utilized - 2 Checkpoints and One Checkout
Genres: Non fiction and Politics
Total Number of Books Competed - 0
Total Number of Books in Progress - 1
Location: UK, GMT

-----------------------------

Thanks and glad to have you aboard - so make sure to check in on the two check in threads like you did above if you want to get credit for them using the template that I posted for the Check In threads. And absolutely imperative is for you to do your totals on the CHECK OUT THREAD - THIS THREAD IS NOT IT.

Go here:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

and use the template in the note above.

Thanks I know you will get the hang of this soon and see you on April 18th.
