SOLVED. YA: Mermaid performer with heart defect and family secrets. [s]

This was a YA book, either romance or coming of age. The main character is probably in high school or just newly graduated. MC is a performer in a mermaid show. (This is her first summer doing this job, but she is taken under someone's wing to understand what's going on, and I think she already knows this person beforehand and potentially she has seen this show other summers on vacation.)

I do not remember there being any real mermaids in the book. Her parents/family were around for at least some of the book, and I think they were at a family vacation location where she was working at this performance location.

One plot point is that she thinks for most of her life that she has a heart defect but then she finds out that she didn't actually. She thinks this because she was told or assumed that she was born prematurely, but then she finds out that actually she was conceived before her parents were married. This was like a big revelation, so it is possible that her dad wasn't who she thought, but I am not sure about that part at all.

There is definitely a romance element. Almost certainly a love triangle, but I can't remember if the love triangle is MC with two guys or MC and someone else being interested in the same guy.

There's also a road trip to the place for the summer. At some point her whole family is in a car together.

I read this book at least 5 years ago, so it has to be published before 2016, but it is likely closer to 2012 or earlier.

As for the location, I know it was set in the US and I feel like they drive to Florida or somewhere similarly touristy and beachy.
