For those not into the supernatural with your gothic, here's a recommendation - I read this a couple years ago and liked it:
The English Wife by Lauren Willig.

Could someone refresh my memory, does the monthly book need to be 150 pages or more?

SWZ, I'm quoting from one of Nicole's posts:

"The 150 page length minimum only applies to challenges.

But, if you are reading it for the monthly tag then we are more flexible. We generally go with the “no kids books” (aka no books you would read to your toddler and blow through 5 in a night at bedtime or short beginner reader chapter books that are like 50 pages with huge print). But I know that we have some people read novellas and such and we do allow people to sometimes read a series of short books to get one participation point. I know someone one year was reading Caldecott Medal winners and posted like 5 for one point or something along those lines."

I missed that, so today you are my "shero" (my kids don't like that word, but it saves me remembering herion/herione). The day I had all those problems I must have accidentally hit that twice--the first time to go the the beta which I loathe, and the second time where all was well again.
