I loved the Boyfriend Game!! it would have been a good rec, lol

Fi | 379 comments Good news on task 53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town: unless it's a big city we can use state/country. So we have:

- Texas
- Canada
- Georgia

I'm leaning toward Georgia but can do any of them. Preferences?

58. I can do beach.
79. Fake Boyfriend works for me.

message 55: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments I like fake boyfriend too. Beach is fine. Though I realized after pass the parcel this week, I don’t have many!

Yes, I was surprised I didn't have as many I thought.

Ok ladies, top posts are updated, the only team tasks still with a ? are:

49. Book published in same month/year: February 2021?
52. Color cover - blue, grey?
53. Hometown - Texas, Canada, Georgia
95. Tagged with animal - dragon or dog

And if anyone is aware of more authors writing under different pen names for task 10 please let me know.

message 57: by KellyJo (new)

KellyJo (kellyjo02) | 331 comments My Preferences for the following.

54. Read 6 books set on a beach or in the mountains, teams decide which.
Mountains

58. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate.
I say either 2020 (KellyJo) or 2021 (Truitt)

71. Pick another team and each member reads one book that was read by a member for this challenge. No pass for this task.
Team 4, I am okay with this

75. Read over 1000 pages in books that start with the same letter (no articles), teams decide letter.
D?

79. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.
Any preference? MPreg, Alpha Hero, Enemy to Lover

88. Read 6 books with a boat, plane, car or motorcycle on the cover, teams decide which.
Car, Im good with this

95. As a team, select an animal. Read 8 books tagged with that animal.
Dragon or maybe Dog, Cat

message 58: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 805 comments 54. Mountains or Beach. It looks as though everyone has more mountain than beach in their TBR, so that's fine by me. I have not TBR, so I'll just be looking for something spur of the moment any way.

49. February 2021 works for me - plenty of options.

52. Grey certainly seems to be a current trend in covers.

53. If we go with Georgia, there are two series I can think of set in Atlanta and at least one in Savannah. Texas has lots of cowboy romances, though.....

95. Dragon, dog, cat....no strong opinion.

52. Color cover - blue, grey? grey works
53. Hometown - Texas, Canada, Georgia Georgia
95. Tagged with animal - dragon or dog for 95 I think we should flip a coin between dog and cat - I'm good with either :)

Fi | 379 comments Ok, I think we're set, thanks everyone! Let me know if there's anything you'd like to change, though.

Challenge starts tomorrow, first task assigned at 6 PM US EDT. A couple of things to remember:

- Page minimum for this challenge is 150

- Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday! :)

Truitt_T | 805 comments It was a beautiful day here in Georgia - but rain from that giant storm is coming by Tuesday. Oh well - all the more reason to read!

Just to make sure I've got this right - we get assigned our task, read our books and post here to the thread, and when we've completed the assignment Filipa (only Filipa?) posts our success to the Tracking thread. Repeat. Correct?

I'm really excited to get started. For the last 8 weeks I've been on a team (with Teresa!) for the M/M Spell Challenge and it ended at 3pm EST today. Not quite 7.5 hours later, and I'm in withdrawal, lol.

message 62: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments Whom ever completes the last requirement can post. Sooner we post, the sooner we get our next task!

I’m using the time to read a few ARC’s I have that didn’t fit into Spell :)

message 63: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 805 comments Ah - good to know. Thanks!

I'm readin a few things too short for either Spell or TART - I felt guilty reading or listening to anything that didn't work for Spell, which is somewhat idiotic. I can get competitive...

message 64: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments I’m totally with you! After this challenge I’ll have to catch up with the novellas I want to read lol

message 65: by Fi (new)

Fi | 379 comments Lol same, I've spent the weekend reading books that are too short for TART.

I'm really looking forward to this as well, so happy that the first task will be called before I go to bed, don't know if I could've handled the suspense. 😂

Truitt_T | 805 comments Ireland, Irish character, or green cover?

message 72: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments I say Green Cover - I have several that fit but I’m not sure for the others.

message 73: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 805 comments I can do green cover.
There’s a Lucy Lennox Forever Wilde novel mostly set in Ireland with an Irish MC.
In the Rhys Ford Sinner’s Gin novels, the common MC family is Irish or ofIrish descent.

But green cover is probably easier.

message 74: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments I’ve read both those, lol!

message 75: by Fi (new)

Fi | 379 comments Task 1: For EVERY TEAM!

With St. Patricks Day coming up, everyone is Irish! As a team select whether you are going to read books set in Ireland OR books with an Irish character OR books with a primarily green cover. Each teammate must read a book that fits the qualification selected, no pass for this task.

Please include the team selected qualification in your completion posts. Remember you need to include how you know your book qualifies! I need to know where to look to confirm your book, include any info or links as necessary. If choosing the primarily green cover, it needs to be over 50% green to be accepted. Don’t forget to use the first edition Kindle page count!

This was probably 3.5 stars for me. At about 12%, I was seriously questioning if I wanted to find another book with a green covered, but I perservered and ended up not only enjoying it, but looking forward to the next books. I found the develpoing relationship rather charming, but wanted more in the way of world building.

Truitt_T | 805 comments It's no big deal - I'm off from work today, so I had time to fret over it. :)

Actually, I've been meaning to mention that my off days often fall durning the week and I work most weekends. If I'm slow to respond when eveyone else is chiming in, I'm probably working. Of course, that also effects when I can get the most reading done.

The world building is a little slow but it grows over the course of the series. I'm waiting for the fourth of the Brinnswick Chronicles which features Ailin's brothers. You have to read all but the last Enchanter's book before you start them though.

I thought the world building probably continued - there are quite a few mysteries alluded to that need clarification! And once I started looking at it as we (the readers) learn things as Seb done, it works better. It's definitely interesting enough to keep going.

message 88: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 805 comments First, let me start by admitting that I have too much time on my hands today. It's grey, raining, and I have a cat who plans to sleep on top of me until further notice (she was spayed yesterday, and I picked her up from the vet this morning.)

I was looking at the gay romance kindle bestsellers on amazon (like I said, too much time trapped by Poppy the cat) and darned if Borrowing Blue didn't turn up as #100. I'm wondering just how many people are reading it for this first task, lol.

Fi | 379 comments Task #1: St. Patrick's Day - Green Cover

The Enchanter's Flame (The Ellwood Chronicles #1) by Michele Notaro
The Enchanter's Flame
Pages: 364 / GR 1st edition
Qualification: Green cover approved in Q&A
Read: 16/03/21
⭐⭐⭐
Review:
I'm a little conflicted on this one. The second half of the book was much better than the first, so I'm glad I stayed with it. My biggest problem was that, through most of the book, Ailin comes across as overbearing and possessive, making decisions for the both of them without Seb's permission, and refusing to share vital information. And because the story is told from Sebastian's POV, we only know as much as he does, which was frustrating. But one thing I can say about this book is that it never dragged, and in the second half not only does Ailin redeem himself, he even starts explaining things to people. I'm with Seb on the whole "baby" thing though, please make it stop. 😂 The secondary characters were very interesting, and I really liked the little zoo they picked up along the way. I'll probably continue with the series.

That's funny about Borrowing Blue! How is your kitty today? I know when my little ones got neutered it was hard to keep them still.

Thanks for asking about her! Poppy is pretty subdued and very clingy, which means I'm getting lots of reading time. I've already knocked out several novellas today (all under the 150p threshold) and I hope we get our next time while I'm still, shall we say, a captive audience.

I've had many cats over the years and know that some don't bounce back as quickly as others, so I'm not really worried about her. She's eating and moving well and if she wants to sleep on or next to me all day, that's fine - I scheduled her surgery so I'd have two days off after to baby her.

Task 2 - 3. Each player reads a book by a new to you author - no pass for this task.

The books selected for this task need to be written by a new to you author. This is not a team decision! You can have other books by the selected author on your shelves, but only the one you read for this task can be marked as read. Please have the selected book marked as read and rated on your shelves before making your completion post. Also please include a link to either your shelves searched for your selected author or to your read shelf in your completion post. If your profile is private, you will need to either friend me or open your profile for the duration of this task so that I can confirm your books. 😊
