Review: I loved this book so so much. It's You've Got Mail but with restaurants and Muslim characters and family secrets and it was perfect.

Review:
Mariana Zapata hits it out of the park again. Her grumpy heroes are the best, and her happy heroines are super lovable. She still holds her crown as the queen of the slow-burn romance, at least in my opinion.

I'm loving this series. Frankie and her guys grow stronger and closer together, and I love seeing the relationships between all of them grow and develop. But that cliffhanger! How can I wait for August?

Review: After the excitement of solving two murder mysteries prior to a COVID lockdown, Cat and Gilley have settled into a boring everyday routine. Gilley is having marital problems - working on a relationship when his husband is working overseas is hard. To cheer him up Cat gets tickets to a one-woman show, 12 angry men, that is a total sell out. The star of the show is dishing the dirt on 12 well known men that she has dated - and she is being really, really cruel. It comes as no surprise that she is murdered, it also came as no surprise that Cat and Gilley get swept up in investigating whodunnit. They need to work out who the twelve men are from the clues the murderer victim gave during the show. The investigation is played while the MCs get on with their everyday life. Cat has settled into her relation with the local police detective. Gilley, as I mentioned before, is dealing with his issues - by avoiding them. Puppies, parties, gourmet cooking, laughs, and rubbing shoulders with the ‘beautiful people’ is contrasted with murder, violence and attempted suicide as a mum ceases to cope with parenthood. Another great book in the series.

Life's Too Short by Abby Jimenez

Review:
I really enjoyed this book. It had a bit of everything love, hope anguish and despair. The MCs brought out each other's strengths whilst trying to achieve a common goal. Now to go back and read the first two in the series

Review: I am wrecked. I'll need some time before I can pick up the next in the series. I felt the death at the end was unnecessary, and I really wasn't prepared for it!

Underwater by Marisa Reichardt
Date: 4/29
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: blue cover
Pages: 289
Review:
Underwater focuses on high school student Morgan who is dealing with the aftermath of a school shooting and holding secrets about her part in the tragedy. Morgan hasn't left the house in 5 months at the start of the book and hasn't spoken with anyone her age in the same amount of time other than her cohort of online high school students. Enter Evan. He moves in next door and upends Morgan's entire world. At first, I was kind of mad at the fact that Morgan seemed to be changing for a guy but I don't think that is the case. I think Evan was the first person to basically call Morgan out for her behavior and instead served as a catalyst for her desire to change.
I think this book was an accurate portrayal of anxiety and survivor's guilt and just trying to navigate a scary world filled with scary things. Will definitely be checking out more from this author. This is by no means an easy read so please check the content warnings before reading this book.

Review: Charlotte and her young sister Paige are on the run from their con artist parents. Charlotte has raised Paige as their parents neglected her. They end up in a coastal town to house/business sit and somehow Charlotte ends up impersonating a fortune teller. The two girls settle in and make friends, but Charlotte’s deceit means she has to lie to her new friends. She ends up helping police to look for a mugger. Lots and lots of humour and interesting characters and, naturally, a love interest. Just wish the book hadn’t ended with a cliff hanger otherwise would have been a 5 star.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown Talia Hibbert
4/30
Pages: 320
Rating: 5 stars
How it fits: blue cover
Review:
GAH! Every Brown sister book I read I say this one is my favorite. But I really think I mean it this time. This utterly adorable and perfect book had me crying and laughing and nodding my head in agreement. I love this family, I love these sisters and I love their men. I would also very much like a spin-off with Mont, Alex and Tessa now.
I truly believe that this trilogy is the best contemporary romance trilogy I have ever read. As my friend so eloquently put it "I'm basically ruined."

Book:

Review: This book felt a little bit flat as compared to some of the earlier books in the series. As much as I hate the will-they-won't-they, I think Veronica & Stoker thrived on it. The tension between the characters felt contrived, and the plot was a bit outlandish.

Review
This is a series I dip in and out of. I find Hetta quite refreshing and it is enjoyable to see how Hetta and Jan try to get out of the scrapes they inevitably find themselves in. I find the endings always predictable in this series but a fun read getting there.

Review
This was an interesting twist on a m - f romance. January and Everett are writers with the worst case of writers block ever, problem is they each have to write a blockbuster before the end of the summer. They make a pact to swap genres in a bid to overcome their writers block but find romance on the way. Quirky and fun definitely a “beach read”

Review: I have a weakness for Space smut and this one was everything I expected. Emily was sweet and innocent despite her treatment at the hands of her father and first Alien husband who her father sold her too. Now she is classed as defective and up for sale as such. The alien who wanted to buy her contract is a no show and Emily is about to be sent to a brothel when Makov steps in and takes over her contract. He is an ex soldier who is now a farmer. He does not want a bride but he is attracted to Emily and just wants to protect her. Misunderstandings follow and both Emily and Makov make decisions not understanding what the others really want. There are battles to the death, sweet lovemaking and clever paperwork moves made before they get their HEA
