TART Challenge - Round 3 - Bookin' It...Still (3)

6. Read 4 books with fewer than 500 reviews.
The books selected for this task need to have fewer than 500 reviews, not ratings! You can find the number of reviews on the main book page under the title. Please include the number of reviews in your completion post. If the number of reviews is likely to go over 500 while you are reading the book, for example if it already has over 490 reviews, a screen shot would be advisable.

This book came out as an extremely surprising delight. It was not the paranormal things that I loved, nor the romance, but the simple, humorous nature of Wesley Cooper, a not-ghost who still has awkward conversations and a great sense of timing to tell all the stupid things he thinks of.
For most parts of the book, I kept grinning, and at some parts terrified. The writing was easy, solid, and absolutely brilliant.

I really enjoyed this one, but I figured I would. This author writes fantastic stories that has a mix of angst and love. Ryann has been through a tragedy and she was able to open her heart and trust again.

Review — I wish this book was a bit better developed, but still it progressed the story of the lightning-struck women well. Becca and Hunter are a good match and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. There was so much going on though, I feel like some character development was lost in the shuffle. I look forward to reading Leslie’s novella before jumping into the next installment!

This is the second installment of the task1 book I read. Levi and Beck’ happen to be the bride and groom’s best friends and also happen to have a crush on each other. Beck gets roped into planning the wedding and she drags Levi as well. As they plan the wedding, they get to know each other better.
Things I loved about the book:
1. Beck’s outfits. She’s always dressed as a superhero. 🦸♀️
2. Her trusty sidekick...a roaster! 🐓🐔
3. ASD characters. Both Beck’s dad and brother are on the spectrum. The author did a good job portraying them as well as Beck’s struggles as their caretaker.

Ooooooo new paranormal series!

Task 3 - 11. Read 4 books in continuing series, one that has not been completely published.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be in series that are not completely published yet or are ongoing. So the second book in a trilogy where the third is coming out later this year would work or a book in a series such as In Death that is ongoing would also work. Please include in your completion post a link to the series page to show that the series is not completed yet, i.e. expected future publication date on a later book or description as a trilogy with only two books listed.

Triology with last book pending to be released
A lot of pages, but this is in my to-read for a long time. I ll check this out.

Vampire’s Faith, Rebecca Zanetti – 3/20/21 – ✮✮✮✮✰
Kindle first-edition ➔ 292 pages
How the Book Qualifies ➔ book part of the on-going Dark Protectors series
Review — When Janie’s and Zane’s story finished in Marked, I thought this world was essentially closed. There is a spin-off series that I enjoyed and some novellas that fall into this world, but I was floored when more was built into this world to push the stories forward! The blurb doesn’t do a good job of explaining how this story fits into the Dark Protectors world, but thankfully it is explained well as the story unfolds. Ronan Karyrs is an ancient vampire who sacrificed his life to imprison a deadly enemy. He never expected to see the world again, and certainly not 1,000+ years later. I loved how well and quickly Ronan adapted to his new reality. As confused as he was, he caught on quickly and learned as much as he could. Faith is not my favorite heroine in this series. She’s a bit wishy washy, which drove me crazy. I can appreciate being an older sibling trying to care for a younger one, but sometimes her logic just didn’t make sense. I think, in the end, these two make a formidable couple. I look forward to seeing more of the next generation of Kayrs and Kylwoods, as well as Ronan’s brothers, as the series continues.

I wish I enjoyed this book as much as I wanted to. But I didn't. There was inclusivity and I appreciate the author for that. But I wanted to feel the magic, in words and in actions of the characters. There was a lot of detailed sexual activity which was too descriptive in the sense there wasn't much left to be felt. There was one point where the book gave the feeling that being with the right guy would make Aspergers go away. That I didn't like at all.

Please correct to the first edition Kindle page count (318 - I don't see 290 anywhere?) and repost. Thanks!

Task 4 - 13. Read a minimum of 750 pages in books tagged/shelved as sports.
Books selected for this task can be tagged as the generic 'sports' or more specific such as 'hockey' or 'baseball'. The qualification must come from tags though, not from the title, series name, precis or lists. Please include the number of qualifying tags and the top shelves page number for the tag as well as a link to the top shelves page. The extra info is extremely helpful if the link is broken or the tag moves and both frequently happen! Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.

Oh, I saw some raving comments, Hayde. I felt it could have been done better. You should give it a try.

I am planning to read Playing for Keeps, and this is the shelf for it. Not sure if this book qualifies with the shelf link. Can you confirm it?
Also, what is the minimum number of pages for reading? 180 right?

I really wanted to like this book. The plot was promising (second chance romance is my catnip) but the book ended up feeling like a long rewording of the précis. The book goes back and forth between present and flashbacks. I’ll say 2/3rds of the book are flashbacks. It spent most of the book leading up to why the characters fell in love, to barely use two pages to describe what broke them up, use a few more pages to say oh oops never mind it was a misunderstanding, and the end. When I read second chance, I expect at least some groveling in the present!
I really blame myself. I know better than to grab a short book. I am never happy with character development or plot. It’s just too short. 😩 And I was between this book or a book from Mariana Zapata, so really....my fault. 🙈

Yes it qualifies. It is tagged sports by 161 people, sports romance by 157 people, and tagged hockey by 55 people. Either one of those will qualify it.
