The Dream Guy Next Door, Lauren Blakely – 4/1/21 – ✮✮✮✮✰
Kindle first-edition ➔ 310 pages
How the Book Qualifies ➔ first published November 2020
Review — Such a fun story of neighbors trying to resist each other, but failing spectacularly! I really loved how well both characters were developed and showed their devotion to their children. There were definite laughs that I’ve come to expect from Ms. Blakely and some truly touching moments also.

This book was touching on my nerves. Probably, Holly Black had spoiled the entire fey world for me. I didn't feel the magic or see the magic in this book. What's worse was the heroine's inability to decide and stick with her emotion. The girl was a mere healer in a small town, and suddenly she gets to discover she has magic power and will become Queen of the magic realm with real power to control seasons as she wishes(which she could have used to bargain anything she wants), and all she can whine about is not being able to treat patients of her town. I mean you are the damn Queen, with access to treasures, powers, and every single damn thing, can't you hire a healer? Can't you hire five healers? The fact that this girl wanted to run away, rather than grab opportunities made this is tasteless read. I didn't want to read 350 pages about a girl, who doesn't have desires, wants, and some sense.

I loved and hated so many things in this book, in equal measures. I had been longing to get a well-written asshole heroine. And Tarryn Fisher granted me the wish. Yara is a pure asshole. Not because she was female, simply as a person she was an asshole. I kinda liked the kick to see a woman being unapologetically an asshole. And there ends my admiration for the book.
The first half was brilliant. It made me know the characters, and the second half was full of drama. I didn't want to read about two characters having still-lingering feelings/love for each other and still choose to fuck OM/OW in a detailed description. It felt like a cheap shot to make me uncomfortable. It was beyond uncomfortable. I wasn't interested in knowing Ethan or whatever. I know he isn't important and a passing cloud. Why would such a cheap shot be taken?
But, damn, the book was fine, why beyond fine in its own sense. I would go for a second read before finalizing my ratings.

This is a second chance novel.Mia and Hunter used to be engaged. Until they got in this terrible fight and broke it off. It’s been five years and now they have to travel the world together for work.
This would have been five stars if it weren’t for spellings mistakes and some travel inaccuracies.

Literature that made me sink in its essence. Of the world far away, of understandable emotions, of couples finding their love and letting it go on impulse. Although the book starts with married virgin couples, trying to consummate their marriage, McEwan hasn't written anything that's not needed in the text. Every small detail is important as to why and what has made the couple the way they are.

How the Book Qualifies ➔ from the précis: “...not standing on the sidelines of a filming set in Maui like a wannabe starlet…”
Review — What a great story! There was amazing chemistry between Zach and Tessa despite how different their personalities are. When the bomb hits, both characters deal with the fallout in a realistic manner...meaning some of their actions were justified and sometimes I wanted to smack the character to see reason. Sophia steals the show as most 3-year-old children do with her incredible heart and over-the-top personality.

I don’t know why I’m having such a hard time finding a beach book I want to read.
