When pro surfer Zach Ellis isn’t traveling the world-wide competition circuit, he works as a Renegade stunt double for the hit TV series, Hawaiian Heat. After years of tangling with the ocean, his body has paid the price. So when he gets a shot at a star role on the show, Zach’s all in. He celebrates the career opportunity by taking a chance on a woman who’s not his usual island-girl type, only to discover he can’t bear to let her go.

Tessa Drake belongs mired in legislation battles in Washington DC, not standing on the sidelines of a filming set in Maui like a wannabe starlet. But even more important than her law career, Tessa needs Zach Ellis’s signature on legal papers. Papers that relinquish his parental rights so Tessa can adopt the girl who already calls her mommy. When she discovers Zach has slipped out of town before she makes contact, Tessa takes solace in the sexy star of Hawaiian Heat. A man whose warmth and dazzling grin makes her Mensa-level IQ vanish into thin air.

After an electrifying night together, Tessa is horrified to discover just who rocked her world. Zach is stunned to learn he’s a father. And both find themselves caught in a riptide pulling them in the opposite direction of their dreams.

4 Renegades' Style of Love Stars
* * * *
In 2013, I fell in love... I fell hard and true. I gave my heart to a new book called Reckless (Renegades, #1). https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... It was written by Skye Jordan and I thought everything about it was Amazing. It had a unique way the main characters met, the almost anonymous coupling between them and more hot sexy times then I could imagine on a good day... But it also had a plot, humor and heart... which made it a huge winner in my book and many others, too. It became a big success and started a popular series.

This series has been around for a while now and each of the entries have had value... some more than others...but over all satisfying for the fans. This entry has all the markings of a positive read.

There is the a bit long in the tooth professional surfer. He has been well liked on the surf circuit but as the years have gone by, his body is having a harder and harder time healing from all of the abuse the sport throws at him. He has been part of the Renegades crew but his only stunt talent is surfing which is a very limited need. He lucked out by landing a double position for a TV show that shoots in Hawaii. The main characters is a surfer...duh...And our guy sort of looks like the star.

Only trouble...the star is a asshat and no one likes working with him. The star's reputation of being difficult, short with fans...even when he is "Doing Them" and full of himself, has not gone unnoticed by all... producers, studio execs and the director. If everyone had their way...our Renegade guy would just take over the part.

The flip side of this story is our gal...She is from the world of Washington DC. She is a person who makes sure things get done... and she is loyal and caring. When her best friend passed, the daughter became her daughter, Period. She is now in Hawaii trying to get the stunt double to sign off on parental papers... letting her have total custody. She had to find this man and make him sign.

What happens next is a mistaken identity...which was totally understandable...
He was forced to play the actor in a social setting...
She kept waiting to see if the double turned up...
Both were attracted to each other and things lent themselves to sharing that attraction...
If you know what I mean....

And then she finds out he was the double....
And he finds out he was a dad to a precious little girl...

This Renegade tale has all the touchstones of the series... hot hot chemistry, an adorable little girl who captures our guys heart easily...and a couple who are opposites but work perfectly together. We get to see and hear about past characters, enjoy a fully formed tale and experience what made this series in the first place... Skye Jordan's ability to put it all together.

~~~~~ Before Reading ~~~~~
Did I hear there is another Renegades book coming...
Is Syke Jordan going to deliver a scorching sexy tale of ripped men, strong women with touches of heart and soul...
Be still my heart if she is...
For I will never forget my first experience with this rag tag group...
4.5 - "You light me up." Stars!
Skye Jordan returns with the sixth book in the outstanding Renegades series. Riptide gives us pro-surfer/stuntman Zach Ellis’ story, and I devoured it.
The themes in this story, could quite well have pushed it over into the over-the-top drama category, but somehow the author managed to keep the story-line pretty easy on the eye in that although the relationship between Zach and Tessa, was full of tension due to his lack of knowledge of being baby-Daddy to a one night stand he had a few years previously, it was kind of kept on an even burn due to the sexual tension that sizzled between the two of them right from their first meeting, even if at that point she actually thought he was someone else.
"You’re as refreshing in my world as I am in yours…"
You only have to add a cute kid into a story for it to in general lighten the mood, and Sophia did that with great effect. I loved Zach’s POV as he tried to negotiate the waters of having a daughter he didn’t know about and his attempts at getting to know the toddler were absolutely adorable.
These two females were like riptides… They’d snuck up on him, grabbed hold, and dragged him under.
Tessa is the Yin to his Yang, in that where Zach is a very laid-back and go-with-the-flow, commitment free kind of guy, everything in her life is planned with precision, her responsibilities are many and her commitments are longstanding, but they worked in-spite of all that, the sexy-times were diverse and smoking hot, and this was a book I pretty much read in one sitting.
The rest of the Renegades family provides great secondary character involvement, and it was good to catch up with a few of them as this story played out. I hope that the author has a few more books in the works for this series in general, it’s one that always brings a smile to my face when I get the opportunity to read more from it.
ARC generously provided by the author, and it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review in exchange.
Riptide by Skye Jordan was such a good read.
I loved watching the storyline/relationship unfold between Zach and Tessa. They were great characters that I easily connected with, I loved their passion, their honesty and watching Zach with little Sophie melted my heart.
This was one of those reads I struggled to put down, "just one more chapter" turned into staying up late into the night until I finished lol
I have loved each and every book so far in Skye Jordan's Renegade series, and Riptide is no different! In fact, it ranks right up there with Relentless as one of my favorites. Each couple in these books have had such interesting and engaging stories, and they've all completely charmed me. The premise of Riptide is so intriguing and the book lived up to all my expectations for a Skye Jordan novel. A captivating plot, an oh so swoony hero, a feisty and spirited heroine, a darling and scene stealing 3 year old, and a location to die for- I don't think there was one thing I didn't love about this book!
Zach and Tessa, and Sophia's, story is one that will capture your heart and give you all kinds of feels. This was a different and interesting take on the "secret baby" trope, and I really felt for Zach and Tessa both. Their journey was a rocky one, but in the end it was all so worth it.
Even though this is a part of the Renegade series it can definitely be read as a standalone.
Holy smokes! Skye Jordan typically wows me with her sexy, passionate love scenes but I have also been riveted by her storytelling. Sometimes I love the intimate scenes but sometimes I am just so in love with the characters and the story that I could skip all the hot erotic times. Riptide, book 6 in the Renegades Series, is one of those books. I was so enthralled by following Zach and Tessa's adventure with the adorably smart Sophia, I barely even thought about anything else. When I wasn't reading the book, I was thinking about them, trying to come up with a plan that might work out for them. As if I could help them solve their big problem!
Tessa flies across the country to ask Zach to sign adoption papers for Sophia, the three year old whom Tessa is the legal guardian. Only Zach does not have a clue that he is the father of Sophia but quickly falls in love with her and doesn't want to give her up. Oh, and prior to Tessa dropping the news of Zach being a father on him, they have a one night stand (without either knowing who the other is). Talk about an interesting story...
I really liked Tessa and Zach individually and together even better. Their lives could not be more opposite of one another yet the chemistry between them was explosive. There wasn't an easy answer for them given their situation but being along for the ride to watch them wade through all the decisions was exciting. Their romance was not easy for them, but keeps you turning pages. Jordan is so talented at writing intimate scenes that move a story a long and are unique to each of the characters in her books. Riptide was no different. Zach and Tessa are HOT together.
Little Sophia was a doll, stole the scenes, and reading about her with Zach made my heart melt. Getting to catch up with other Renegade heroes was like icing on the cake! I was fun to watch Jax, Lexi, Josh, and Grace help Zach out. So sweet.
Riptide is a contemporary romance where a father falls head over heels in love with his daughter and her mother, contains sensual love scenes, friendly banter, and an endearing story. You won't want to miss it!
I have to admit, I truly enjoy romance stories with children, especially when author can totally capture that spark and wonder that kids have which completely shifts an adults life. Sophia is a doll in this story but she’s not the only star. Zach is that fabulously sexy surfer that you droll over when you hit the beach. He’s worked hard to be successful in his career but he’s also lead that footloose and free lifestyle. Tessa has fought many challenges to become a successful attorney, she is straight laced and focused on taking care of the people she loves. She has to seek out Zach to terminate his rights as Sophia’s father. This relationship starts out with a misunderstanding which makes Tessa’s job harder but at the same time, allows both people to connect in an honest and real way. Now, can they find common ground for Sophia? This was so much fun to experience Zach and Sophia getting to know each other. I love that the other Renegades are always around, supporting and loving each other which opens up a whole new world for Tessa and Sophia. Truly another exciting, fun and sexy journey with one of the Renegades. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
I adore the Renegade series and Riptide ~along with Zach~ is now my favorite Renegade. The man was on top of the world, body double for the star of a hit TV show, the possibility of becoming the star, woman throwing themselves at him left & right...and then in one night it all came to an end...Zach was a father and the woman he just spent the night with wants him to give up his rights so she can adopt his child.
This super sexy surfer has quite the soft side and I love it!
Tessa has done everything for this child except give birth to her...all she wants is the official paper that says she is a Mom. She doesn't count on the child's Dad being so wonderful, caring, and *ahem* so damn good in bed.
Can they find a way to co-parent....to co-mingle....to co-exist in this child's life and each others???
Oh yes they can!!!
Another smokin' hot edition to the Renegades lineup
Zach, a pro-surfer turned actor. Oblivious that he's already a dad.
Tessa, a lawyer. Wants to adopt Zach's long lost daughter, Sophie.
And Sophie, the pivot of the story.
Good story. But some of the characters from this series, I've completely forgotten.
My bad.
It’s no lie that I’ve been a huge fan of Skye Jordan since the minute I opened Reckless, the first book in her Renegades series, and while I have loved so many of the books in this series and her other series, Riptide was bigger, better, and stronger. The level of emotion that pulled at these two characters much like a riptide pulls at swimmers was not only believable, but warranted, and it was easy to become emotionally invested in both of them and the little girl both that changed both of their lives. I was compelled to keep reading fearing if I put this book down I would miss something, crazy right? Maybe, but that is how easily Ms. Jordan wrapped me up in this story and I didn’t want to leave it, not even for a moment.
Pro surfer Zach Ellis travels the world competing and in the off season he’s been a stunt double on the wildly popular Hawaiian Heat television show. With a shoulder that’s giving him trouble, Zach knows his competition days are drawing to a close and he hopes that when the show’s star leaves for bigger and better things, he’ll be asked to step in as the new male lead. Zach enjoys his life although he’d like to have a steadier stream of income, but his work with the stunt agency Renegades has given him friends that are more like family which is nice considering his family feels he’s wasting his time and sullying the family name. What he doesn’t expect is one night with a woman he meets in a bar to change his life forever, but in the best possible way.
Tessa Drake is in Hawaii for one reason and one reason only to get the deadbeat dad of the little girl who calls her mommy to sign away his parental rights so she can legally adopt her forever. Getting to him proves harder than she expected, so she settles for trying to get to him through the star of Hawaiian Heat, only to realize later than the man she spent a wickedly sexy night with is no other than the man whose signature she needs.
Anyone who reads my reviews knows how much I love it when a one night stand comes back to bite one or both characters on the a$$ and this book does that in spades, but with a twist which I loved. A case of mistaken identity and a night of sexy fun leaves these two characters in a pretty precarious situation, and together they have to figure out a way to make things right for the little girl that she’s raised and he’s determined to have in his life.
Honestly I felt so much for these two characters because what it boiled down to was they both were in love with Sophia. Tessa had helped raise her since birth as the child’s mother battled cancer and Zack fell in love with her almost immediately. On top of that they were both battling the growing feelings between them and neither one was sure how to deal with them and still do what was right for Sophia. On a physical level, these two burned up the sheets which only led to more confusion, and while they seemed polar opposites in many other ways, in reality they were quite alike.
I loved seeing and catching up with the entire Renegades family and the kindness, support, and love they gave to both of these characters is a testament to how special these people are to one another.
For someone who has been caught up in a riptide and experienced those swirling emotions as you fight your way clear, this book was aptly named. Ms. Jordan outdid herself on Riptide and I loved every emotional, sexy, sweet, and fun moment of it!
Zach Ellis may know how to navigate a riptide when one sneaks up on him when he’s out in the water on his surf board, but when he’s hit by one in his personal life, he finds himself being dragged under, succumbing to the maelstrom that has taken control of his life, conflicted over whether or not he can ride it out, making adjustments as needed or giving up given how impossible it seems to weather it.
But just like all Renegade men, Zach is willing to fight for what he wants, and even though what’s important to him may have changed in the blink of an eye, with his Renegade family at his back and the potential for a true family of his own staring back at him, he’s ready to face things head on, regardless of how difficult it may be to maneuver through the crosscurrent.
Tessa Drake knows a thing or two about struggling through difficult situations; in fact, much of her life has consisted of her finding a way through the pain and grief of losing people close to her, and now that there’s a chance she could lose the little girl who has come to mean everything to her, she doesn’t know if she’ll be able to survive the turmoil that surrounds her and the very real chance that her entire world will change in irreparable ways because one more loss may be her ultimate downfall.
Tessa’s carefully constructed life and Zach’s easygoing, active lifestyle are both brought to a screeching halt when Tessa attempts to do the right thing and do what’s best for Sophia at all costs, but the payoff of this chaos is that Tessa and Zach bring out another side of each other – a side that makes things even more complicated but a side that allows them to be themselves and bring a refreshing perspective into two very complex, differing worlds.
Zach will have readers swooning when it comes to his interactions with Sophia and seducing them when his bold words and passionate caresses light Tessa up and give her everything she’s always wanted in a man. And, Tessa’s strength and her ways of doing what’s right despite how difficult it may be will have readers rooting for her to figure out a way to have everything she wants without losing herself or Sophia in the process.
Zach and Tessa’s story is one that illustrates the bond of family – one that isn’t necessarily blood related. This one is built upon trust, dedication, and a connection that never waivers despite the obstacles and outside influences that threaten it. Since joining the Renegades, Zach understands how important it is to have people in your corner, fighting for you and pushing you to be your best, and when Tessa and Sophia enter Zach’s life, they become a part of his crazy life and as much as they make a mess of it, they also give him a purpose and a sense of knowing where he truly belongs.
Take one sexy surfer in a gorgeous location, throw in a smart woman with one thing on her mind, then add the cutest kid and the Renegades family, and you end up with another hot, enjoyable ride from this great series.
I really liked both Zach and Tessa, and not just because their chemistry was off the charts. Zach might be a rootless surfer who has slept with more than his share of women, but he’s not a player and he’s not careless, he’s just been having fun. He has goals and loves what he does, but he’s never planned on settling down. Yet when Tessa and Sophia drop into his life, he takes the responsibility seriously. He’s a good guy who just hasn’t had the chance to show how amazing he could really be before.
Tessa is amazing. She’s smart and competent and is a pro at looking after those who matter in her life. But she’s also used to being taken for granted and not having anyone to lean on. I appreciated the way she tried to let Zach in, even as I understood how she struggled. Sure, she doesn’t exactly go out of her way to find a way for Zach to fit in with their lives, but considering what she was expecting when she tracked him down, I could understand her needing a few days to reassess her options.
Because all of this happens pretty quickly. The chemistry, the revelations, the relationship between Zach and Sophia, the pull of real life. I actually didn’t mind how quickly feelings developed between them and how they all get swept up in everything. But I do wish a few more things had been explored a little deeper – like the money issue, everyone’s plans and hopes for the future, maybe a bit more about Zach’s family and things with Abby. One or two things are mentioned but quickly brushed aside in favour of the main drama. Which is good in one way, but I’d have liked a little more detail in some cases.
Overall, though, this was great – smoking hot sex one minute, adorable sweetness the next. Zach and Sophia are seriously cute together, while Tessa is like a superhero with the way she copes. I also loved getting to see so much of the other Renegades too – but don’t worry if you’ve never read a Renegades book before, this book stands alone perfectly well.
So if you’re looking for something sexy with a side-order of surprising sweetness, give this a go. It’s cute and easy with good characters finding a way through a tricky situation, with the occasional help from a giant stuffed turtle and Pegasus. A little more Zach in action might have been nice, but it’s still a great addition to the series.
I fell in love with Skye Jordan quite some time ago. Her Renegades men will each hold a special place in my heart that no one can ever dislodge or take away. You may be thinking that so far into the series it would be difficult to match the success of other previous couples. You would be so wrong about that. Zach is your surfer playboy that is tired of the life but not the water. The ocean is akin to his birthright. He's got the right level of respect for both it's ferocity as well as it's beauty, which in some ways gives him a different level of maturity and perspective. He's doing the stunt work for a TV series and is a near identical match for the star of the show. Tessa's had a rough life as well as a difficult time as an adult having to face adversity and tragedy. She never lets it really get her down and accepts the responsibilities of others that are thrust upon her. Tessa is on a mission to make sure the past remains in the past. She's used her vacation to go to Hawaii, find Zach, have him sign some papers and raise her daughter. Tessa's biggest obstacle comes in the form of trying to tell the two men apart...star and stunt man. She can never seem to get close enough. When she does, she worries about the possibility of mistaken identity but rules it out based on conversations and information that she already has. She lets go of control and rational thinking for one night and it changes the direction of so many lives. Sophia (daughter) is an adorable toddler who behaves like she would in the real world - tantrums included. It was a joy to see them and see how the reactions of others were so realistic. The way the twists were worked into this story had me a little gaspy at times. This was written so well, that I'll probably remember the ancillary older couple in the restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the way the story was told. It effortlessly showed the falling in love, heartbreak, challenges, sacrifice and compromise that take place in any relationship - especially one where there is a child involved. I would HIGHLY recommend this book. It literally checked all of my boxes for an escape full of feels.
5 Cowabunga Stars!!!!
I’m always so happy as a reader if when I finish the book I’ve experienced what I call the trifecta of books – hot and dirty sex, characters I fall IN LOVE with and the most precocious and sweetest kid on the planet. For me Riptide is that book!! Adding to this trifecta the fact that it’s part of The Renegades series by Ms. Jordan and oh my I’m in Renegades Heaven!!!
This one starts off with a hero, Zach, that loves to surf, is making an okay living doing what he loves and “living the dream” in Hawaii until the day Tessa forced her way into his life on a mission that until she succeeded wasn’t going to give up. Through a series of assumptions that always seem to have the same result…you know what they say about assumptions right?...In this instance though one of the best side results of her assumption lead to some of the hottest, dirtiest, multi-O’s she’s ever had sex! Leave it to Skye to have me squirming in my seat while reading these scenes!!
When Tessa is finally able to confront Zach about Sophia, the daughter he never knew about, his life shifts on a dime and everything he knew is now different, but in a good way he never thought he wanted. Let me tell you about this beautiful little girl. She’s beautiful inside and out; has a personality the size of the Grand Canyon; so smart she shocks Zach and Tessa with some of the things that come out of her mouth and has the ability to wrap a six-foot plus surfing dude around her little finger…queue the swooning now please!!
Don’t get me wrong, there’s some angst in this book too, but while I shed a few tears over some of it, for the most part I was smiling or fanning myself the entire time I was reading.
This book is everything I wanted it to be and so much more. And is a perfect addition to the Renegades series.
Emotional Rollercoaster that will keep you reading!!!
Anytime you hear that there is a Renegades book coming out, we know there will be Hot, Sexy Thrillseekers involved! This can definitely be read as a standalone, but who wants to miss out on the other amazing Renegades.
Zach Ellis definitely fits the requirements of a Renegade. He is a pro-surfer turned stuntman turned actor! He has a trifecta that makes him highly sought after! And throw in his big heart and he becomes irresistable! That is by most women.
Tessa Drake travelled to Hawaii to meet a man she has never met, but he holds the key to her future plans. She doesn't know how to get what she wants from him, but she is determined to get it done and go home as soon as possible.
Tessa and Zach meet and immediately hit it off. The connection and bond between them is so strong that they decide to explore it a bit further. Neither one of them expected it to get as tangled as it does.
This book follows true Renegade fashion and has a strong-willed love interest! But Riptide gives you so much more! Zach has to learn a lot about himself and put plans in motion. There is going to be laughs, tears, anguish, and as usual the Renegade family shenanigans!
Tessa truly loves the life she lives and Zach is only one more complication thrown her way. She tries to negotiate (like the great lawyer she is,) but it is harder to maneuver when the heart is involved.
The Renegades stories have evolved. While I still love reading Book 1, you truly can see how the family is getting more complex! It makes the characters that much more lovable and intriguing! I cheered for them, cried for them, and yelled at them when they didn't do what they should! It had all the "feels" that a lover of romance could want while containing a Fun-Loving Surfer Boy!!!
Can't wait to see who finds a place in our hearts next!!!
This book is great. I think it is my favorite Renegades book so far! This book has Zach as a hall of fame professional surfer working as the double for Ian who stars in a Hawaiian TV show. Zach got his job through the Renegades and is part of the family. Tessa, who is an attorney, is in Hawaii trying to find Zach to let him know he has a daughter and wants him to sign off on papers giving her full custody. Tessa's best friend Corrine got pregnant by Zach (which he knows nothing about) and has passed away from cancer. Tessa has taken care of Sophia since she was born and Sophia calls Tessa Mommy. Tessa mistakenly thinks that Zach is Ian and has a night of pleasure with him. You need to read the book to see what happens next.
There are secrets that were kept from Zach that has messed up some people's perceptions. Zach has been a player as he has not had anyone special in his life. He is shocked to find out about his daughter, but does a wonderful job transitioning to a dad. Sophia is such a beautiful little girl that brings a lot of laughter into everyone's life. I could just eat her up in this story. Tessa has been a wonderful friend and great mother to Sophia. Tessa is so afraid that Zach will take her daughter away from her, but she is so patient with Zach. This is such a beautiful love story that I didn't want to put down. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
Another MUST READ book in this series!
I didn't even read the synopsis when I agreed to review this; knowing that Skye wrote it was enough for me, and she once again reinforced why she is one of my favorite authors!
What I loved the most about Riptide was how real the characters were. There was no drama, no back-and-forth of "well I want to lean into his touch, but I won't" kind of nonsense. I could easily see this story playing out as if it were really happening and not a work of fiction. And that's true about every Skye book I've read so far. And I LOVE it!
HOLY SMOKES! True to form, Skye wrote one steamy book. This one was a little different from the rest, though. Not to spoil, bu the initial source of the steam created an early-on misunderstanding that I couldn't wait to see how it worked out!
This book deals with a family dynamic I had never read before, and I was very intrigued by the plot. While, in my opinion, some authors do better at writing children than others, I felt Skye did an excellent job of using Sophia to add a positive and interesting element to the story.
The ending was absolutely beautiful, and I got to catch up with members of the Renegades I met in previous books (not necessary to have read previous books to enjoy this one, but believe me, you're gonna want to read the others!)
Tessa is in Hawaii looking Zach Ellis, the father of her best friends daughter. Her friend passes away from cancer and leaves Sophia to Tessa. She needs him to give up his parental rights so she can adopt her.
Zach is a stuntman and surfer for the Renegades. He is single and doesn't plan to settle down anytime soon. He fills in for the star of the series he's doubling for at a club. He sees Tessa and she seems different than all the other groupies hanging around. Tessa mistakes him for the star and goes back to his hotel. They have wild sex and she goes back to her condo, only to see on tv she slept with the guy she was looking for, Zach.
When she meets him and asks him to sign over his rights, he is shocked that he even has a daughter and refuses. He starts to spend time with both and falls hard. Only thing, Tessa is an attorney and lives in D.C. and Zach is in L.A. and travels a lot for work. Tessa has some decisions to make but will she make the right ones for her or her daughter?
Awesome story. I loved Zach, he gorgeous and funny and sexy. Tessa is sweet, protective, and a loving mother. Some smoking hot sex scenes. A cute little girl and some old friends.
This was a secret baby romance that was unconventional. The mother of the baby has passed away and her best friend has custody. Tessa has to get Zach to give up parental rights in order to officially adopt Sophia. Zach didn't even know of her existence.
So why I loved this book? It has so many things going on at once. Zach is trying to get his acting career off the ground and now discovers he has a three year old child. I love reading about men who have no clue and then instinct kicks in and they do fabulously.
Tessa has so much more going on. She is a lawyer who writes the laws and has a very important one in the works when she has to find Zach all the way across the country. She has to deal with the fact that she has lost her best friend and really as no other support system. She is trying to balance her nanny s extreme dislike of Zach. And she's trying to figure out what her true feelings are for Zach. She has to trust Zach and his feelings for her and that's difficult for her.
The two of them go on this amazing journey and it's really centered around two things. Sophia and the love that develops between the two of them. Ms. Jordan does a fantastic job of Sophia's personality. I loved my son when he was three but not the tantrums.
I've really enjoyed reading each of the books in the Renegade series. Riptide may be one of my favorites so far. This book touch my heart. There is just something about Zach finding out he is a father and stuggling with wondering if he can be a good father. Watching his heart quickly melting for little Sophia was sweet and heartbreaking at the same time.
Tessa is in HI to find Zach to get him relinquish his rights to Sophia, so she can adopt the child she has raised from birth. Zach who is a stunt double for Ian the star of Hawaiian Heat ends of playing the role of Ian at get together at a bar for some extra cash, when Ian has to leave for LA. Because of a series of mix-ups, Tessa thinks Zach really is Ian. After being disappointed she has missed Zach, when Ian (Zach) approaches her, and their chemistry is off the charts , she decides to have one night for her before she heads back to DC and her job. When identitys and intentions are revealed, So many emotions began to surface. I found my heart breaking for both Zach and Tessa as they try to figure out where to go from here. This is a perfect HOT summer read filled with a few laughs and few tears.
This book. This book. This book!!!! Skye Jordan is by far one of my favorite authors, and RIPTIDE is just the perfect example of how she takes a typical trope and wraps it in all kinds of sexy, hot man goodness, and tops it with a strong kicka*s heroine and delivers you the most decadent story to get lost in!
Zach and Tessa have some unreliably enviable chemistry and with Zach heart-melting character and Tessa's endearing qualities I devoured every page of this book far too fast. This come very, VERY close to edging out as my favorite Renegades, book. It actually might. Every book in this standalone sereis gets better and better, but I'm not sure another man can take the place of Zach Ellis when he dives so willingly and 100% head first into being a daddy to Sophia and the perfect man for Tessa. It's swoon-worthy in the utmost of definitions.
Sigh... Ms. Jordan, you've set the bar once again even higher for yourself and I look forward SO MUCH to more of the Renegades and your other series! If you couldn't tell by my euphoric tone, RIPTIDE is an amazing read and one you need to get to reading NOW!
Happy Reading!
Riptide took me on a great trip to the state of Hawaii with its very descriptive words about the sand and surf. I enjoyed the trip! I guess I won’t be writing any spoilers as the author’s blurb pretty much lays it out there, but this story is about Zach Ellis and Tessa Drake. There is a case of mistaken identity – and I will admit I was a bit confused while reading it; you’ll know it when you see it – but also an inconvenient attraction that knocks both of ‘em upside the head. And of course there is a little girl…she will melt your heart and make you laugh at the same time. I was quite pleased with Zach’s “enlightenment”; it was, after all, a pretty quick “trip” for him. I was a bit put out by Tessa and her nanny; it is, however, part of the story line so it works. If I’m getting annoyed or frustrated with a character? Means the author is doing their job of keeping me interested. All and all, I enjoyed the book, loved the setting, and maybe wished the author had fleshed out some story points a bit more. I recommend reading for it will take you on a pleasure trip without having to pack sunscreen.
So sweet! I was second guessing reading this because I wasn't in the mood for typical contemporary romance fluff, but I started reading this...and I didn't stop! Little Miss Sophia is very much a show stealer, one of the best book babies I've come across!
I didn't think I'd enjoy the chemistry between Zach & Tessa because, well, a surfer - actor wannabe & a lawyer? Who would've thunk *giggles* I thought it was gonna be more dramatic with the custody issue but, well, they made everything work and I quickly started rooting for them. Serious Daddy and Mommy goals! This little family is just adorable.
I was initially weirded out by the fact that [SPOILER] Zach slept with Tessa's best friend...and impregnated her...and then Zach and Tessa get together....
Yeah, those "You impregnated my sister/friend/cousin now she's dead and I'm here with your child" books aren't really my usual cuppa tea bec I personally would never sleep with someone who slept with (and impreganted) my sister...or friend...or any girl I know
And TBH I'm still not totally on board with that theme but meh, I read it, I survived.
Riptide follows Zach, a professional surfer and part time renegade and Tessa, guardian to 3 year old Sophia.
Sophia is Zach's daughter, although he never knew he had a daughter. Sophia's mother died of cancer and thinking that Zach wanted nothing to do with his daughter left her in her best friend's Tessa's care. Tessa is really the only mother Sophia can remember and Tessa goes to Zach, thinking he'll happily sign over his paternity rights as he's wanted nothing to do with his daughter til now. Things obviously don't go as planned as this is all life altering news to Zach plus the fact with mistaken identities Tessa sleeps with Zach before finding out who he was. Zach's lifestyle has been loose and very mobile up until this point. He has to decide if he is ready to be a dad and make the necessary changes to his life as well as taking into account Tessa's needs since she airways treats Sophia as her own. The fact they live on opposite sides of the continent only adds to the mix.
Really enjoyed this book as I have the whole Renegades series.
Wow, Wow, & Wow.... I absolutely loved this book. We have Zach and Tessa's story in this installment. The ups and downs in this story, grabbed me and didn't let go. I was sad to finish the book, it was just that good. Skye writes in such a way that I feel I'm right there in the middle of the story. I laughed, got angry, and fell in love. You can read the blurb to get an idea of the storyline and I can confirm it is an absolute winner. We still get to have some updates on our other Renegades (yeah), without taking away from Zach and Tessa. I'm sure you will fall in love with Sophia as well. I know I did (think mini scene stealer). Basically, I love this author and anything she writes you will love. If for some reason you haven't read this or any of her other works-please take care of it right away-you wont be disappointed. Even though I was very fortunate to receive an Arc of this book-I would have bought it for sure. I just love this author that much and have purchased all of her other works. Happy reading.... Cindy
These two females were like riptides. They'd snuck up on him, grabbed hold, and dragged him under.
Riptide is a secret baby story...with a few complicated twists. It's my first read in the Renegades series, and at first I was a bit overwhelmed--the whole Zach/Ian aspect of the plot (how Tessa managed to confuse the two was a clever plot twist, but it added to my wait, what's going on...? feeling at first ;)), and who exactly the Renegades were--but everything soon smoothed itself out, and just like Zach, I found myself sucked into the story and dragged into the lives of the characters.
Tessa. Sophia (OMG, what a cutie. And what a three-year-old. Poor Tessa and Zach!) And Zach. Three characters who it's pretty much impossible not to root for--and yep, what a ride they take us on!
So yes, my first book in this series will absolutely not be my last!
Zach & Tessa
Wow!
Prior to reading this story my favourite one in the series was Jax and Lexi, but I must say, this one has now taken the top spot. It is the kind of book you'll want to revisit again and again. Great loveable characters, wonderful storyline, and, unlike the others which I have previously remarked on, this one perfectly balances the amount of sex scenes with storyline body and depth.
Like all the stories in the Renegades series this book also highlights a social issue. On this occasion it is the inadequacy of the American disability system in not providing enough financial support for people facing hardship. Health and medical issues are mentioned, however the main topic covered in this book is support inadequacies for single parents and
the rights of biological parents vs guardians, leading to custody battles where the child becomes the pawn.
The only criticism I have is the need for spell checking and better proofreading by the author. There were quite a few instances in the story where the names Sophia and Tessa were mixed up incorrectly in dialogue. Despite that frustration though, this story is definitely a MUST read. Highly recommended
Tessa Drake is a lawyer and the mother of a determined 3 year old. Zach Ellis is the black sheep of his family, pro-surfer and stunt man for the Renegades. One night of mistaken identity brings the two together, but what happens when there is more than one reason they shouldn't work? Will Zach and Tessa be able to find a middle ground? Will they get their happy ever after?
Love the Renegades series and this one was no different! I understood both of their point of views and the constant push and pull of their relationship. Zach showed there was more than a playboy to him and the way he instantly took to fatherhood. I understood Tessa point of view of being scared and was really happy when it came to the last couple of chapters with how she was willing to work with him. Great book and cannot wait to see what is next from this author!
I absolutely love this series. I love how you meet all the guys working with Renegades in the first book and that each subsequent story is about a different guy. And that in each story you still get to see all the previous books' characters. They are like one big happy family, and I love how they all interact and support one another.
In this story, we meet Tessa and Sophia. Tessa is looking for Zach Ellis, and when she finds him, she realizes he is far from what she expected. He is so much more than the surfer playboy she thought he was.
There are sparks galore and some super serious heat between these two, and there are some really gorgeous 'awww' moments when Sophia is added into the mix.
Loved this book and could have kept reading if there were more.
I love Skye Jordan's writing. I have read all of her Rough Riders series, and both of the Wildwood books, but this is only the second of her Renegades books that I have read. I think Riptide is her best book yet.
There is so much to love about this story. I love fish-out-of-water stories, and Zach definitely fits that bill as he learns how to parent the 3-year-old daughter he just met. Sophia is a treat, and as a mother of four, I have dealt with a lot of what she put her mom and Zachary through.
I loved the characters, and was so engaged in the outcome of this story, I tweeted the author "Usually when I'm reading, I'm like "sure hope they work it out." With Riptide, I'm all "HOW ARE THEY GOING TO WORK IT OUT??""
The odds are so stacked against them, you can't figure out how they'll make it work, but being a Skye Jordan book, you know they'll get their HEA in the end.
Riptide is the newest addition to the Renegade series and I seriously loved this one. With all the action and chemistry one could ask for, Riptide has quickly become one of my favorites. Not to mention, the cutest scene stealing three year old ever. Zach is a surfer and stuntman for Renegades, he’s always lived life freely and has definitely had his share of women. Finding out he has a daughter has rocked his entire world. I absolutely loved watching Zach and Tessa grow their relationship all the while struggling to find middle ground when it comes to Sophia. It’s real and challenging and a breath of fresh air to watch a man fall in love with not only the daughter he didn’t know about, but also the woman that brings her into his life. Another great story Ms. Jordan. I can’t wait for the next one!
