Introductions Re-Boot!

I'm Kristin and a retired teacher and retired librarian. Historical mysteries are my favorite type of book to read. My favorite series is Maisie Dobbs but I have read other mysteries discussed here. Always looking for some new authors in this genre.

Oh I totally agree with you there. It was described as being in the historical mystery genre but that's not very accurate. It has a little mystery, a little romance, a smidge historical, and a lot of steampunk.

The featured author for May is Rhys Bowen. Quite a few members are continuing with her Royal Spyness series. I will update the group's currently reading book now.

I am an audiobook narrator but most of more work is more modern and leans towards sci-fi (which I also enjoy).

Love the P.F. Chisholm ones, except when she leaves the book on too much of a cliff hanger! But the characters are terrific.

I live in California and just retired this year, was going to do a bit of traveling, but... you know. Hopefully next year. Looking forward to discussions.

Welcome. I have read Elsa Hart's historical series set in China and hope she continues it. How was Cabinets?

Hi, Sandy, and thanks for the welcome. Believe that Elsa is done with her China series, unfortunately. The new series is a hard slog. Couldn't get into the characters and there's more levels of detail on the contents of the cabinets then I found necessary for the story. My review will reflect this.

I'm sorry on both counts but thanks for the information.

Thanks, Mally! Great to meet someone with the same favorite authors!

Thanks so much, Lauren!

I am glad to join this Group. I am a French writer of Sherlock Holmes Pastiches. My third novel will be published in a few days.
The first one has just been translated in english.
Read you soon !

I've just started (late) our December read, My Lady Judge, set in medieval Ireland. Its too early for much of an opinion. I'm also reading the Cadfael series by Ellis Peters and really enjoy Cadfael's quiet calm.

Helen, I like the Hugh Corbett novels and I have the Brother Athelstan novels on my TBR pile. I'm glad you reminded me of them.

Welcome to the group, Malorie!
I loved Nefertiti's Heart although I think it is more of a historical romance / steampunk than a historical mystery.
