I haven't read it but only heard of it. It used to come a lot on my recommendations page but now I can't find it. I don't remember the description that well but There was a girl who could read minds. Her name was something with S. There was also a boy. The girl has to leave her parents behind and move to a new place and there was something about killing to know something, too. I heard about this book back in December of 2020. The cover had some sort of lamp and two kids. It was very well drawn. The author's initials were SM

I also remembered that this is part of a series and the third book (I think so) started with an E. But I'm looking for the first one.

This is most likely the Keeper of the Lost Cities Series by Shannon Messenger. the details match up. Book three is Everblaze. Sophie can read minds and struggles To cope with her new family. The cover matches too.
