I agree to your point about Alina, but I feel like her character in the middle chapters have just become very stagnant.. she is being portrayed as a show doll rather than an army commander! 😣

I have already started book 3 because I have lots of time right now and little time later on in the week, but I can already tell you that Alina does get the more powerful presense in the third book and I'm really enjoying it!

I am at chapter 17 now and I don't feel like we are getting anywhere with the war or anything.. The plot seems to be so stagnant now.. Just talk about the army and the war and Darkling.. (view spoiler)[Alina seeing the Darkling is so scary.. I keep imagining a dark shadow suddenly hovering over her.. Gives me chills.. Also, Mal has now started to become very annoying.. He keeps pulling Alina back and is such a contrast to Nikolai.. Nikolai keeps pushing Alina to explore more and expand her powers.. He promised to let her go whenever she wants and is being so gentle.. I love that! (hide spoiler)]

I'm halfway through chapter 11:) I like the book so far but I doesn't feel like I have to read the next page if you know what I mean? I don't feel "stuck" in the book like I use to feel when I really, really like a book

I had a similar feeling, I wanted to keep readimg but was bored, I can tell you that it is worth it to keep reading because book 3 is so good! I like the characters better and there is just much more happening!

I will start the third book tomorrow. I agree that I didn't really liked the second installment but still will continue. I just hope that the last book would be better than the first two.

I'm reading " Rise and Ruin" now. Alina's character has developed a lot...and already I do have a feeling that this one is going to be the best of all in this series.

I know exactly what you mean! I finished the book today and honestly I was a bit disappointed. I mean, I have read bad books in the past, but I was expecting a lot from this one

I have finished the two Novellas The Too-Clever Fox and Little Knife and will be starting Ruin and Rising now.. I hope this book is better than book 2, other than Nikolai, book 2 didn't have anything intersting

Yes totally agree! I think you will like book 3 much more. I have only read the tailor and the darkling in the wood, but I will try the out the ones you mentioned :)

I am 5 chapters in and so sign of Nikolai.. I am going to be hurt if he doesn't turn up soon enough
