I was really hoping for an excuse to read this book. I discovered the Mercy Thompson series years ago, and read them all, never realizing this series was set in the same world. Then I went to a comic con panel with Patricia Briggs and Anne Bishop and found out that Alpha and Omega is set in the Mercy Thompson universe - what an exciting thing when you discover a whole new series you're likely to enjoy! This was a good entry although it was quite dark. A group of people disappeared from land owned by the pack, and Bran sends Charles, Anna, and Tag to investigate. We learn a lot more about Leah (Bran's mate), and see a lot of things that rightly were given trigger warnings by various reviewers. The reason the people disappeared was not at all what I would have guessed, and the book was pretty engrossing from start to finish.

Review
This was another book I'd been hoping to read for quite awhile. Trevor Noah did a great job telling about his life growing up during the end of apartheid in South Africa. And wow, one thing I learned is that I know almost nothing about what happened there - the situation was so much more complex then I ever imagined. Some of the stories told in the book are sad, and quite a few are very funny since of course the author gets himself into trouble in a variety of ways. I really liked learning about his mother, who pushed boundaries and was such a strong woman. The one thing I didn't like was that it was pretty loose with telling things in order of when they happened. But I guess that is how many people would be when telling about their early life.

No worries, happens to the best of us!
I would've poked you about it eventually :-)
Eta: I'm also not ruling out the fact that I may occasionally miss a completion post because notifications are wonky ;-)

And tonight is our next shelf call, squeeeee!
I'm kind of hoping for Spin-Off so I can read Wicked All Night.

I'm a little scared to finally read this because it will end the series, and I'm almost certain I'm going to cry at some point. But I think the time has come to face it.

Do you do it text or audio? Just asking because I've read the series both ways, but now Oberon's voice is always the one on audio :)

Lurking...
I really liked that book. I learned things I didn't know about South Africa. I just bought the young readers edition for my niece and nephew. Anyway, glad you liked it!

Awww Harry is one of my heroes.
I'm going to get myself #16 and #17 soon and I cannot wait to dive in!

I have all the paperbacks, but I do listen to it on audio for the most part, often just reading along (otherwise I miss stuff because I drift off and for the names). But Oberon.. yes, Oberon is the audio voice. It just works!
I do the same with Harry Dresden. I read along a lot but I mostly do them on audio because James Marsters' voice and narration fits Harry's personality and shenanigans like a glove!
For the rest, I rarely do audio. I can't concentrate, or have issues with the voices or narration style used. Though I do like the Elemental Assassins on audio as well.

What fun this was! All the grifting, the plotting, the awesome characters, the banter, the slow-yet-fast-burn romance, I loved all of it.
I always enjoy Ilona Andrews' books. This series less so than others but they are brilliant nonetheless. Especially Jack and George in this one were absolutely great! So young still and yet so sure of themselves and vital to the plot.

I will be starting my Urban Fantasy book today or tomorrow.

Fake complaining aside, I work Mon-Fri so we haven't had a day off together since Xmas, so it'll be nice to hang out. 😊

It will be good to spend some time together then, but yes, the reading time, oh the reading time hehe.

Much less of a bang than I expected the ending to be but there was a lot of action nonetheless. And I knew Kevin Hearne was going to make me shed a tear at the very end. Yet, it all does end with hope, which is awesome.
There is a spin-off now, so I knew these lovely characters weren't all going to die. There were losses, but... as I said, there's hope in many ways.

Totally understandable!
I was sitting on Besieged and Scourged for months now until I finally decided it was time.

Spider's Trap by Jennifer Estep

How it fits: Tagged Urban fantasy 222 times - which actually bugs me because when I chose this book it was tagged 222 times, and that is one of the tags I use so shouldn't it be 223? Aaah - its hard to be a math person sometimes

Review: So....the Elemental Assassin books are pretty formulaic - I enjoy them, but I need time between them because it's pretty rare something really surprises me.
Gin is now running the underworld and people are still wanting to kill her. But as she investigates a new attack she discovers some links to the past, and needs to help someone that she never considered a friend.
The bad guy in this is indeed evil - very sadistic.
Perhaps my favorite part about these books is the family and friends that surround Gin. Plus, the book always make me crave barbeque, burgers, and milkshakes.

I had a few days off and it was a long weekend on top of that because of Easter, and I spent most of it reading apparently haha.
I'm not going to read your review for Elemental Assassin because spoiiiiler most likely. I've only read 6 so far. Might read #7 for Bingo if it fits at some point.

Riley sager is my guilty pleasure when I want an easy spooky read. This is a ghost story about a house and it's history. Bainbury Hall has a history of murder and ghosts. There are many twist and turns in this story. The ending is wow! Not as spooky as a Steven King novel but very entertaining.

Not yet, no, but I've had Ink & Sigil on my shelf since it was published last year.
The second book in that series is up for preorder already, too.

Ugh! One of the reasons I held off reading this book is because, according to reviews I've read, it has a cliffhanger ending and my stupid library doesn't have the last book. 😭 Boy, does it have a whopper of an ending! I loved it when Jazz figures out the connection to how the murders are happening. Pretty creative! I can barely figure out how to get jelly on toast.

I've been thinking the same hehe.
I read the first one a couple of years ago. Liked it but wasn't necessarily compelled to continue, but now... I might have to rethink :-)
And yay Sunshine!! Hopefully it'll come in time for a shelf call it fits!

So I'm going to finish my current read and then I'll see which one of those speaks to me most.
