But I can't! I've only known him for, like, half a f*ckin' hour! And I can't like Dakota, either! We're just friends, dammit! Just friends! No matter how much Zorion tried to force these thoughts to take hold, he couldn't make the feeling go away. The fluttery feeling in his stomach, the tingling in both of his hands, and every other inch of his body saying that he liked the two of them.
Zorion glanced over at Dakota and his heart did another funny little flutter. F*ck. I amso into these two. He looked back at Leo and was clearly having gay panic, which he found impossible for him to suppress. He looked back and forth between Leo and Dakota, mind reeling and eyes wide. He looked comical but also pitiful and also weirdly adorable.

Zorion shook his head. "N-no, you're fine– I mean, it's fine! You're amazin', not just fine! I mean... Oh, for f*ck's sake," he groaned, blushing madly again and looking down at his lap. He was never this awkward around anyone else, but now that he realized he liked not just one but both of the two people who actually cared about him, he'd become a mess.

Dakota had turned red, embarrassed by his nightmare. He had been staring at his lap the whole time, barely hearing Leo and Zorion. Until they started talking to each other. His heart felt constricting at their mentions of the past. They had it worse, why did he always complain about his? He was barely hurt. No one had been killed. He was just being dramatic and stupid, as usual.
These thoughts made tears gather in his blue eyes. He made small sniffling sounds, hands trembling. Then his eyes widened and his lips parted slightly. He didn't look at them, but he heard it. They were getting flustered. Them!? He couldn't help the small laugh that escaped from his lips.
He didn't smile a lot, but when he did, Memphis had described it as if there was a bit of sun, streaming through dark clouds. Like sudden warmth hitting your back, in the most unexpected moments. He tried stifling the laugh, but he started laughing freely, his body shaking, but in a good way. He had to close his eyes at how hard he was laughing, and because they had already been filled with tears, they streamed down his cheeks.

Dakota continued laughing, gasping for breath. He finally slowed his breathing, opening his eyes, but still not looking at either of them in the eyes. A light blush blanketed his cheeks and nose. "You.." he said, voice soft, but oddly happy. He was smiling a bit. It was a small one, but it was clear about what he was feeling. He felt loved, and wanted, despite them not even talking to him.
"You guys," he continued. "Are beautiful...Did you know that?" His tone was full of wonder and intimacy. His grip tightened on both of their hands, though it was accidental. He wanted to be like this forever. The three of them, though he had just met Leo.
He regretted that he had to move his hands though, because his sight was becoming blurred by more tears. He had forgotten about his broken arm, so when he moved it, he whined and winced. He just kept smiling though. He didn't wanna stop. He didn't think he could.
"You guys," he continued. "Are beautiful...Did you know that?" His tone was full of wonder and intimacy. His grip tightened on both of their hands, though it was accidental. He wanted to be like this forever. The three of them, though he had just met Leo.

"U-us? You mean, me and Leo? Wh-what on earth makes you say that?!" Zorion exclaimed, warmth creeping into his cheeks again. Inside, though, he bubbled with joy. Dakota thought he was beautiful! And not just him, him and Leo! He was elated and he felt his eyes light up more than they should've. He was grateful when Dakota squeezed his hand, making him snap out of it.
Zorion then saw the tears brimming in Dakota's eyes. "Hey, you're hurt. Why don't you just rest, okay? I know you're happy, but you gotta take it easy, Kota," he said softly, his tone caring and daresay a bit loving, too. He released Dakota's hand and wiped his tears again, his hand lingering just a second longer than usual on Dakota's face. "I'm serious. Rest now, okay?"

Dakota quickly shook his head, and then blushed harder when he blurted, "N-no, I want to keep talking with you guys! Please, Zor? I don't wanna rest," he mumbled, feeling like a child. He knew that if he was talking with Eli, he would've been hit, but this time he didn't wince. "And- and I say it because...it's true, I guess..." It hadn't before, but now the truth of his words hit him. They really were beautiful.
He stared at his lap, his face heating with embarrassment. What was he doing? He couldn't just say stuff like that! They probably hated him now. "S-sorry.." he murmured. "But I really don't wanna go back to sleep...It's...it's scary.." He bit his lip hard, shaking his head. "I can't.." By now he knew he was being childish.
He glanced up at both of their faces just slightly. Why did they have to be so...so...perfect? Why did they even hang out with him? He was just in the way. Honestly, they were both very attractive, and everyone knew attractive people loved other attractive people. Unfortunately, that's how the world worked.

The last part was added when he realized that was the only reason he agreed, and he sat there, bright red. He cared about Zor and- He froze. No. Not just cared.
He stared at Zorion with wide blue eyes that looked like the ocean was swirling in them. No, he didn't just care. He might - just might - love Zor. His best friend. He loved his best friend. And Leo. Why both? If there was a god, why did he insist on hating Dakota? He wanted both of them. He wanted to be able to love both of them...

As Dakota stared at Zorion, he found himself getting lost in Dakota's deep, sparkling blue eyes. They were beautiful. Entrancing, even. At least, they were for him. It occurred to him that he hated Eli even more now because not only did he abuse the boy that Zorion liked, he also didn't appreciate Dakota and just how amazing Dakota was. Then his heart sank. Right. Eli. If Dakota was true to his word, which he almost always was, then he wouldn't be leaving Eli anytime soon. Which left Zorion without Dakota. Well, sh*t.
When Dakota sank his bright red face into a pillow, Zorion snapped out of yet another gay-love-triangle-square-thing trance and looked at him. "You okay, Kota?" he asked gently, ruffling Dakota's hair again to get him to respond. Zorion hadn't really noticed before just how soft Dakota's hair was. As he contemplated this, he forgot to pull his hand away, which was now tangled up in Dakota's gorgeous black-brown hair.

Dakota made another soft noise into the pillow, then stopped moving. After a moment, he lifted his head, taking a deep breath. He couldn't breath like that. He smiled at both of them awkwardly. "Uh- it-it's nothing.." he said quickly, trying to brush it off. Then he realized how Zor had been looking at him.
At this realization, Kota just started staring at both of them, lost in thought. His lips were parted slightly, and his eyes were wide, as they usually were. His long lashes brushed his skin when he blinked and, in the lighting, there was a light pink tint on his lips. They were a bit chapped, but they weren't rough. At least not to him.
He liked the feeling of Zor's hand in his hair. It felt comforting, in an odd way. He glanced at Leo. His voice was so calm...and almost...homey? A small, tiny part of him wanted to scream that he loved both of them. But he shoved that part down deep. Stupid. This is why you always get hurt.. But what if he did? No, no, no. Nope. Not happening. At least... His eyes seemed to smile sadly. Not yet.
