Eli followed after her, forcing himself not to kiss her again. He grabbed her shoulder, turning her around with one arm. "I'm supposed to watch you, dumbass," he said, a bit more harshly than was intended. He didn't answer her question about regretting anything. He gently wiped away her tears with his thumb, cupping her cheek and looking at her with cold brown eyes.

Eli growled, rolling his eyes. "Dammit Maddy... You don't understand, do you?" he snapped. He pulled her closer to him so she was pressed against his chest and kissed her, harder than before. It wasn't gentle or sad. It was angry, filled with desperation. His hand was on the small of her back, while the other was still cupping her cheek.
He knew he said he wasn't going to. But it was too hard for him to explain to her what he was feeling. So he showed her. He knew he was going to hurt her. He always did. But, in that moment, he didn't care. All he cared about was this. Being with her. Kissing her.

Eli just made an angry noise against her lips, but while the kiss was hard and a bit aggressive, his hands weren't putting any pressure on her. He didn't wanna hurt her. He pulled back, looking at her and breathing deeply. "You know I can't stay with you, Mads," he murmured, his voice having a bit of a hoarse undertone.

Eli grimaced. "I- I can't. I won't be good at it, you know I won't," he said quietly, shaking his head. "I'll end up hurting her. She'll turn out like me." The last part was barely a whisper, and full of shame. He wasn't looking at her when he said it, instead staring at the ground.

Eli shook his head. "I can't, Maddy." He said it more stern now, but there was still worry and sensitivity in his expression. "Not until she's older...I want her to know if I hurt her, it's wrong. She won't understand that now. I need...we need to wait." He didn't want Ella growing up, letting people push her around and hurt her as if it was normal.

((I have to go to bed. Goodnight and stay safe!))
Eli rubbed her back, concerned. "I love you too," he mumbled, kissing her forehead gently. "I need to go.." He caressed her cheek for a second, wiping away tears, before turning and walking away, trying to clear his head.

((Morning! You have a nice day so far?))

((Sure! Great idea!))

((Eli? Sure, why not? I apologize if I'm being stupid and am misunderstanding you!))
The nurse quickly nodded, her pigtails bobbing. "Of- of course!" She took out a clipboard with papers on it. "I just need you to sign a few things and fill in some information." She looked nervous. Why did people keep looking at her like that? She was just doing her job!
Dakota's eyes started feeling heavy, and his mind started fading. He tried holding on to consciousness, but ended up not being strong enough, and blacked out. He started shaking again, the blood staining Leo's clothes. He was going to regret that later.

Dakota just whimpered in his sleep, and, watching him, the nurse called over another nurse. The second went over and gently took Dakota from Leo's arms. He didn't say a word, just left to a room. There was a bit of panic in his eyes.
The girl at the desk twirled her hair around her fingers, glancing at Leo every now and then. Finally, she took a deep breath and squeezed her eyes shut. "Hey, can I- Can I get your number? You're really cute," she said quickly, flushing.

((Sorry, I had to see Leo's reaction XD))
The girl huffed. "Why do you care so much? I might never see you again, might as well ask!" she snapped back, angrily typing something in a computer. "Geez, asshole," she muttered.
Back in the hospital room, the male nurse had set Dakota down, very carefully pulling off his shirt. He winced at the sound of the scab being ripped off, and the wound on Dakota's chest bled freely. Thankfully, Dakota wasn't awake to be in too much pain. The nurse started gently applying some healing ointment to his chest, and other wounds.

The male nurse took out bandages and started wrapping Dakota's frail chest. He was super pale, and the blood already started soaking through the bandages. The nurse peaked his head out and glanced at Leo. "You uh- if you want to see him, you're welcome to," he said hesitantly.
((I have to go. Hanging out with a friend to relax XD))
Dakota was laying on the hospital bed, looking frail and skeletal. Color was gone from his face, and the tips of his fingers were purple from the chill. His busted lip was trembling, and he made soft whining sounds in his sleep. He was shirtless and most of his chest was covered with bandages, already spotted with blood.
The male nurse nodded and went back to work, gently tapping his broken leg and arm to check if they were broken. Dakota unconsciously flinched, whimpering. He blinked open his eyes. Well- eye. One was still swollen shut, looking more black and blue against the white-walled room than before.

Dakota moved his lips to say something, but his head hurt too much for him to comprehend exactly what was happening. He jolted violently when the nurse pressed a hand against his ribs and side. A yelp escaped his mouth and the nurse winced.
"Sorry," he muttered, then crouched. His eyes widened at Dakota's side. It was a scalding burn, spreading up his side. He straightened, looking at Leo. "May I talk with you outside?" he asked gently.

The nurse went outside of the room, and carefully shut the door. He watched Leo before taking a deep breath. "First of all, he should be fine. Thing is, that was just a light inspection, so I'll have to double check for internal bleeding and anything wrong with the inside of the body," he started, saying it slowly, as if to let his words sink in.
"But he does have four broken ribs, a broken leg, and broken arm. There's a severe burn down his side, looking like it was caused by hot water. That doesn't just happen because of cooking though. He also has an extremely high fever, by first look. He also seems chilled, so we'll try and keep him as warm as possible." He was nodding along with his words, his voice stern but kind.
"What I'm trying to say is," he continued. "He needs to stay here over the night. At least it would be preferred. And he may need some physical therapy. But just possibly. I'm assuming you're his legal guardian?"

The nurse nodded. "Understood. You don't have to stay here with him then. We could always get another employee to do that." He paused. "Ah, since I only did a slight check, I'm gonna have the doctor have a look at him." He opened the door, gesturing for Leo to go back inside. "I'll be right back." And with that, he quickly walked away.
The nurse paused, scanning Leo. Then he nodded. "Of course. He'd probably be more comfortable with someone he's familiar with. That's very noble of you, you know," he said softly, a bit of a sad look in his eyes. He turned but then paused. "I would recommend being with him while you're waiting for the doctor. His breathing is a bit irregular. He may be panicked." Then, he finally left, turning down a hallway.
Dakota looked at Leo, looking like he was broken. "Leo..." he whispered, his voice hoarse and breaking in the middle. "It was my fault...please believe me." His expression was one full of begging. He was shaking badly, and his lip moving gave away the fact he was on the verge of tears. Again.
