Carolyn | 9837 comments Sorry to hear about your work situation Diana. It sounds really stressful. Is there no one you can talk to about getting an experienced person in while the boss is away?

Hope it works out okay with your street library. Most people really like them so hopefully no one will object.

Awww - *hugs* Enjoy some downtime with your sister! Sounds like you really deserve it.

Angela Verdenius (angelacatlover) | 380 comments I'm on a day off, thought I'd check my emails and do a few things on the computer, then start a new diamond mosaic project (lovely old cottage in a soft dark/moody pastel woods). Evie (one of the cats) decided to keep me companyy by sprawling all over the desk. Guess I'll stay on the computer for awhile longer instead of putting my DM on the desk to do...
Spoiled? My cats? Never!
Shift her, you say? I'm shocked! NEVER!!!

Sorry to hear about your job Diana - that's bad by your boss. He must have a lot going on to do that to his staff. Enjoy breakfast tomorrow :)

Sharon | 5468 comments Hi everyone,

My partner has been busy lately as he has been building a Little Free Library (Take a book, Leave a book) for our local area. We have had a huge interest in this project which is great. I have also been busy contacting a lot of authors (Aussie) to see if they could help in anyway. Their responses and generosity has been overwhelming. We hope to have this up and running this week.

Only problem we are getting lots of book donations and there are so many that I want to read 😱

Haha! I can't imagine how any one of us - prolific book lovers - could put books out on shelves without wanting to read them first!! You'll have to read them fast and first before you put them out! lol Good luck :)

Angela Verdenius (angelacatlover) | 380 comments My cats are causing havoc! The two 17 yr olds decided for one to get a hyperthyroid, the other high blood pressure (I kid you not). So then the hyperthyroid cat decided to toss in an upper respiratory tract infection as well (because, why not?), and the BP kitty decided to get a sore eye again in her blind eye and have a bleed behind it (again because, why not?)
They're sleeping happily on the bed now.
See, furry kids? This is why mummy has to work.

Hope you have pet insurance!!!

message 160: by Angela (new)

Angela Verdenius (angelacatlover) | 380 comments Believe me, with 6 cats, it's easier to just pay the vet bills! ;-)
Plus, it doesn't cover pre-exisiting conditions, so even if I applied for pet insurance now, they're not covered.
Pet insurance is something you need to do when the furries are young!

I know how you feel Angela! I've spent more time with my elderly furry friend at the vet's in the last year than I have in her entire 18 years. Luckily for her she's a very sweet cat and is dearly loved by all.

I know! Complacency, perhaps? Or disbelief? You'd think not after a whole year of pandemic.

Although, perhaps because we've been so fortunate, people don't believe that their actions will have any impact. Naive at best, stupid at worst.

Don't you just love it when you have a book from an author you love? I'm like that when I get Stuart MacBride, James Oswald or Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum latest book in my sweaty little hands...I almost start to salivate ROTFLMAO!
But you have 2 books - how on earth are you going to decide which to read first?!

Angela Verdenius (angelacatlover) | 380 comments Have you ever found that as the years roll past, your reading tastes change?
When I was younger (in a galaxy far, faaaaaaaaar away), I only ever read romance and a bit of horror. It slowly changed until now I read mostly horror, thrillers and cosy mysteries, with some urban fantasy now and again.

Without a doubt Angela. I used to love serious historical fiction. Now it often bores me. It might be the long paragraphs. I find I want my reading to be either action packed or short, smart and very clever. I guess my attention span is getting shorter as my years of reading are getting longer.

Definitely! I used to be really into crime, now I'm a bit over it. I've always loved horror, but now I'm putting more time into it, and I've always loved fantasy but I find I take it in smaller doses these days. I'm developing a taste for sci-fi, and I am more interested in non-fiction than I ever was. So yes, taste is constantly evolving for me!

Lol, ever so true! In that far, far away galaxy I read exclusively fiction, preferably sci-fi with a decent amount of horror and crime. Now I am a bit 'over' horror, don't rad huge amounts of crime and am more and more fond of non-fiction.

I think our life experiences might help with that, too! Our thoughts, our feelings, etc.
