The goal of this challenge is to read 26 middle-grade books during 2021, one for each letter of the alphabet. Some letters are trickier than others! If you need inspiration, scroll through this thread (participants will be updating their lists throughout the year), scan past years' lists, or scroll through these middle-grade alphabet lists.

Steps:

1. Create a comment on this thread.
2. Copy, paste, and edit the alphabet set in the first post below.
3. Update your comment throughout the year, adding the books you finish during 2021.

Guidelines:

1. Titles need to match a letter of the alphabet. Use the "add book/author" button to create links to the books here on Goodreads.
2. Drop "A," "An," and "The" from titles. For example, A Cricket in Times Square would be listed for C, and The One and Only Ivan would be listed for O.
3. If your title begins with a number, convert it to a letter by spelling it out. For example, The 14 Fibs of Gregory K. would be listed for F, and 80 Days or Die would be listed for E.
4. It's okay to add multiple titles under each letter, but there's no extra credit.
5. Only list middle-grade titles. No picture books, YA, or adult books about kids.
6. You can add a rating and review link. For example ***** My review is here.
7. For an added challenge, see if you can read your books in alphabetical order.
8. Have fun!

Just bumping this up the Goodreads algorithm. I don't know why it dropped off the main page because the last comment is dated July, which is not as old as in some others....

I had a look to see if I could prioritise it in the background, but no. I've done something else which might keep it prominent longer :)

Justine Laismith (justinelaismith) | 348 comments Last year I missed it by 1 letter. Sadly, I'm 5 letters away from finishing this year. Nonetheless, I enjoy this challenge as it helps me prioritise in the plethora of books out there, and not enough time to read.

You’ve done brilliantly. Even in my good years I’m usually missing X or so :)
And I agree - it helps with the prioritising. I think that’s why I love reading challenges!

Annie wrote: "ok Becky just if you're in PC click add book/author and then you can write the name of the book and it shows as a link"

If you're on a tablet or the App and the 'add book/author' doesn't show you can type the title, with book: in front of it, and enclose the lot in square brackets. You have to go down a couple of layers on the iPad pullup keyboard to get the square brackets, but it's worth it.

You're not guaranteed to get the right book if it shares a title, though, so check before you post using the preview option.

This system works in PC as well.

For info, you can also get the cover to show that way by using bookcover: instead of book: . I copy the link to the bottom of my list post and insert 'cover' after book and before the colon :)
