I have a Kobo, but an ereader is one of the best things I ever bought! I do miss the feel of a paper book after reading a few books in a row on my ereader, so I still buy paper books too. Mostly second hand though, unless they're books I know I'll love and want to keep.
Hi Sheridan! Welcome to the group ;-)
I am a kindle user too. I have the paperwhite which I absolutely love as it is so light. I then have the kindle app on my phone for when I am out and about. I also have the kindle fire but I don't use it for reading as the paperwhite is much more reader friendly.
I love my physical books too but an ereader is so portable and it doesn't hurt if you fall asleep reading a huge book lol.

I'm intrigued by this groups monthly & yearly challenges. The yearly challenge seems quite overwhelming, but I've been going through the posts to learn- not sure I will complete it, but maybe I'll use this year to dabble and learn until next year. As well, I am new to GR so I'm learning that curve as well. I look forward to seeing what this group brings to my life and having discussions with you all.

I recently finished one our 2 themed reads, The House in the Cerulean Sea which I absolutely loved. It's such a delightful book with a great message.
Our annual challenges are set up to be accessible to all reading speeds. The challenge is for 16 books (usually it's 12, but I upped it a bit this year). There are more stages to the challenge for those who are fast readers. If you break it down that way, it's not so intimidating. I hope you try it out, even if you set a goal for yourself of 2 museums (8 books) if you don't feel you could read 16 in 6 months.

Hey Janice! Nice to meet you. I'm am really impressed with this challenge you have put together, I've been sharing with friends & family! I think I'll be able to complete 16 books though.

Hi Jocelyn, Sheridan and all the other others who joined over the past few months and are old hands by now! This is a great group and we love to get new blood 😉

I agree with the others, I found all the activities a bit daunting when I joined the group. But you just find one you like, work it out as you go, ask questions (people are super friendly here), and just read! As in the end, the main aim is to get you reading. If you read something "wrong" for a task or activity, you are still reading!! And that's the ultimate goal!!
But thank you also. As although I have been here for 10 years, and am a mod, I thought I had to read 24 books for the first badge in the yearly. Your discussion has taught me I'm a numpty and need to only read 16 books. Woot!!!

ROFL! Is this payback for me confusing Austria with Australia?

My son told me the other day that I'm not totally "with it" because I stopped dead in my tracks to put my hotel key in my wallet instead of walking while I was doing it and potentially walking into something. He might be happy to know I keep good company.

At least you have an excuse if you run into things while you are putting things in your pocket. I just run into things and trip over air. What my excuse? :)

Hello lovely people! I found this group after searching for a bookish platform. I wanted a site where I could record the books I read etc., and hadn't realized there would be a whole host of groups to join too.
I was a huge reader in my middle grade years. I loved the Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley High, Nancy Drew and R.L. Stine books but then my reading tapered off when I went on to high school, college and finally a full time job.
I love books, I love the thought of reading lots and lots of books, I just never make the time. So here I am ☺.
I plan to get stuck in straight away, with a weekend of reading ahead of me and look forward to spending time with you all.

I just posted the July Challenge if you want to check it out - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Thanks everyone!
Rusalka, I will definitely take a look at the July challenge.
Rusalka, I will definitely take a look at the July challenge.

my name is anna and I’m from India.
I joined this group because:
。it looked fun haha
。I want to be consistent with my reading habits
sometimes I’m a voracious reader and then there are periods of reading slumps.
I hope by joining in the challenges conducted here I can integrate discipline into my reading :)
PS: my favourite genre is mystery/thriller 🕵️♀️

I stopped reading for roughly like 4 years when I left school but that motivation to pick it all up just hit me recently.
I’d love to get way more involved in book communities so I don’t lose the love of reading I have again.
A bit about me, I’m 21 and just finishing up an adult nursing degree in September, I’m new to everything about book clubs and buddy reads so I apologise if I come across as aloof I just generally have no clue what’s going on haha.
