Seana | 6 comments Hello All, and Happy New Year! My name is Seana and I actually joined this group last year but time was not on my side and I was not able to participate. But now, new year and a new determination to read more and read a variety of things, just not my favorite fantasy and mystery genres.

message 16: by Julia (new)

Julia Rodriguez Hi everyone! I'm LaDonna and I have been on Goodreads for awhile, but only used it to find my next book. Lately, I have been wanting to be a part of a community who enjoys reading as much as I do. I have begun rating and reviewing books, and I joined your group! I'm excited, and I have been wanting to read "The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" so this seems to be a fortuitous time to join.

message 17: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments Welcome LaDonna! Joining a group themed read is a good place to start. Enjoy!

Val (pagespoursandpups) (goodreadscomval-lawrence) Hi everyone! I am new here too. Just like LaDonna, I have been on Goodreads a while, but am just starting to take advantage of all the wonderful groups and people. I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo right before I joined this group - it was excellent. I'm excited to see so much activity on this group and look forward to next month's read!

Rachel Lucas | 4 comments Hi everyone, I'm Rachel. I've actually been in a reading slump for over a year. (I know it's terrible). But I've recently found the motivation to read again. So I got on Goodreads and joined a couple of groups for added fuel. xD
I'm excited to meet everyone and participate in the challenges. :)

message 31: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Welcome Rachel! Don't worry about it at all, we all have slumps and 2020 was a special year. But very glad you have found us and hope we can help. Look forward to see what you pick up with us :D

message 32: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11274 comments Welcome, Rachel! We are "healers" when it comes to reading slumps. :)

message 33: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments Hi Rachel! I'm glad you decided to join our group. We've got a few activities that might help with your slump. I don't know what genres you like, but one of the themed reads, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a light, quick read and one I really enjoyed. Maybe it would be just the ticket for alleviating a slump.

message 34: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Lucas | 4 comments Thanks everyone! :D
And I've been planning to read that one myself Janice because I love thrillers and murder mysteries. Thanks for the rec anyway. :)

You'll have to suspend disbelief in it. Don't be expecting plausibility in her methods. I peeked at your profile page and it says that you like true crime and this book is pretty far from that. But, it's fun.

I enjoy true crime as well. I've been watching documentary series on Netflix lately. I've got a couple of books coming up from my TBR.

I think I might have watched every documentary on Netflix by this point. xD I highly recommend Nightstalker! As well as the Unabomber one. In his own words or something. I can't remember what it's called right now. Sorry. :P

message 38: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments I think I saw Nightstalker. I just finished watching The Interviewer. I started watching The Serpent, but it bothered me so much I gave up on it. Did you watch The Keepers about a nun who was murdered after some of her students told her they'd been raped? It was an interesting show.

message 39: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Hopper | 2430 comments I watched The Keepers the other day. It was very good and very disturbing.

I watched The Keepers too. What affected me the most was the impact she clearly had on her students for them to still be searching for the truth after all these years.
I think I'll watch The Serpent. I hadn't even heard of that one.

message 41: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Hopper | 2430 comments That struck me as well. Being a retired teacher and principal, that really hit home. I had such a hard time wrapping my head around the extent of the situation and how widespread it was. What an outstanding woman she was!

ReadAlongWithSue recovering from a stroke★⋆. ࿐࿔ Hiya

Lisa invited me to join. So I’m just finding my way around.

I’m medically retired and a Carer for hubby and an older daughter.
Two grown children in their 30’s.
One little doggie 🐶 a ShihTzu named Bella.

I read a lot!

And I live in United Kingdom so I hope it’s ok to be here

I think Bella is a great name for a dog. My neighbor has a pug named Bella.

Hi Sue!

Welcome to the group :-) I live in the UK too.

Bella is a wonderful name. Our neighbours recently got a Shih Tzu Corgi mix. Beautiful pups.
