The Nancys by R.W.R. Mcdonald is a fun cosy mystery.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here's a good gift idea, particularly for girls you want to encourage to read. It is colourful, illustrated, bite-sized tastes of Austen, the Brontës, and others: Why She Wrote: A Graphic History of the Lives, Inspiration, and Influence Behind the Pens of Classic Women Writers by Lauren Burke.
4★ Link to my review of Why She Wrote with a couple of illustrations.
Michael Jordan still draws crowds, although it's been a long time since we watched him play basketball. His is one of the latest stories featured in the "little people: BIG DREAMS" children's picture book series by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara. Great story! (not a fan of the artist this time)
3.5★ Link to my Michael Jordan review with illustrations and a bit extra

Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky is a delightful fantasy/scifi novella (on NG until 16th Nov)review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
For someone who loves a bit of escapist crime, it's surprising that it's taken me so long to read a book by Candice Fox. Crimson Lake was a good starting point!https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Great Troll War is the fourth book in Jasper Fforde's Last Dragonslayer series, and what an excellent conclusion to this incredibly imaginative series it is! You don't have to be YA to enjoy any of Fforde's work. So entertaining.5★s

My review for
The Troubled Empire: China in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties by Timothy Brook. This is the fifth book in History of Imperial China's Harvard series. A robust description of environmental disasters due to the Little Ice Age period in the Yuan and Ming eras of Imperial China.
Just finished an ebook of Deadman's Track by Sarah BarrieAnother great one set in Tassie; this was a perfectly thrilling thriller :)

3.5 stars for
Cutters End by Aussie Author Margaret HickeyMy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Aussie author L.A. Larkin's eighth novel, The Safe Place is undeniably a page-turner, but even though I had donned my disbelief suspenders (I stole this clever phrase from another reviewer), I wasn't entirely convinced and found it rather too cliched. 4★s

I don't always like books that win the Booker Prize, but Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively is terrific. It was even shortlisted for the Golden Booker, best in 50 years. Straight to the favourites list (or the pool room, for Aussies 😊).

Sophie Loughran's narration of Tea Cooper's latest historical fiction, The Fossil Hunter is okay, but not brilliant, so I rate this version 4★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished How To Murder A Marriage by Gabrielle St. George.I thought the author did a great job with her comedic characters, but the mystery was a big let down. My 2 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Entertainer Jimmy Rees's first foray into fiction, Bedtime Sorted! is a cute story that is really brought to life by Briony Stewart's clever and quirky illustrations. From the format it's clear that it is aimed at children, but their parents will probably enjoy it too. 5★s

Oops, I have now corrected it :)
I know that her last novel got mixed reviews, but if you can trust anyone to write a novel about COVID, it must be Jodi Picoult. Wish You Were Here is informative, moving and thought-provoking, and has a brilliant twist. 5★s from me!
