This addition to the Sherlock Holmes canon is based on the premise that some of Holmes' acquaintances and colleagues wrote stories about the detective in their letters, diaries, journals, and scrapbooks.

Fun Sherlock Holmes pastiche. 4 stars

Araych | 676 comments The Four Last Things The Four Last Things (Simeon Grist Mystery, #1) by Timothy Hallinan by Timothy Hallinan

Simeon Grist #1. Simeon is a PI in LA who gets involved with a phony church. I liked the book very much (I'm a big fan of Hallinan's other series). It reads almost like a PI novel from the 30's or 40's, very entertaining. I'll definitely be reading #2 in the series.

Ron (ronb626) | 3418 comments Just finished Collateral Damage (Stone Barrington, #25) by Stuart Woods Collateral Damage by Stuart Woods. I find this series, Stone Barrington, to be very entertaining. Pretty good mysteries and this one had good action, as well. While Woods isn't really in the same class as Michael Connelly or Jo Nesbø, they are still very good. And, as I say, very entertaining.

Next up": Children of Time (Children of Time, #1) by Adrian Tchaikovsky Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, a book that I've heard a lot about recently.

I'm going full-on sleazy pulp with a book from Stark House called Back Country by William Fuller (1954). Stark House has sent me a stack of books that I never got to because I was so down this year, so I need to get going on them.
