Miss Kopp Investigates by Amy Stewart is seventh in the entertaining Kopp Sisters historical mystery series about real people in New Jersey, USA. It's the early 1900s, just after WWI - such different times.

A Line to Kill
by Anthony HorowitzHorowitz and Hawthorne #3, OK to read as a standalone. Another wonderfully entertaining mystery from Mr. Horowitz, this one sort of a big isolated house format, but instead of a house it's an island. I liked it a lot, 4.5 stars.

by Zoe SharpCharlotte "Charlie" Fox #1. Part mystery, part thriller about a very tough young woman with a lot of issues who teaches self defense. Takes place in England -- I think it would make a good TV series. 3 stars.

I read Past Life by David Mark It is a dark, gritty mystery with several murders and some graphic violence. Definitely not a cozy mystery. It is set in Hull, Yorkshire, England. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I'm still working on Sara Paretsky's V. I. Warshawski series. I'm on the next to last book but still have one infill book to purchase and the last one hasn't been released yet. These are a good read along the lines of Kinsey Millhone books.

And, as usual, I went off in a different direction. A mention of it in An Informal History of the Hugos reminded me of Murder and Magic (that cover, too) by Randall Garrett, which I've long owned but never read. Merging mystery and fantasy it sounded exactly right for my mood.
