In my opinion this one is the best of the series so far, and I was fine with the 900+ pages. Enjoy your reading!

Five big stars. My review:

In this first book in the 'Mrs. Murphy' series, postmistress Harry Haristeen and her 'talking' pets investigate murders in Virginia.
Quirky fun cozy. 3 stars

Buzz Books 2021:Fall/Winter includes selections from famous established authors and some wonderful debuts. There's also non-fiction and Young Adult. I've included a smattering of samples of a few that appeal to me.

Rivers of London #4, read #1 first. Wonderful entry in a wonderful series -- sort of Harry Potter grew up and joined the cops. Modern day English police procedural, with humor, and magic is real. So of course the crooks use it just like they'd use a getaway car. This entry has a twist ending I didn't see coming and neither will you. 5 stars.

I finished The Darkness Knows. I liked it but it's not his best work.
Currently about to start Bewilderment by Richard Powers.

The thing is that I didn't order it, so it was a surprise. I can't even begin to describe this book, but it's really very good -- in some spots laugh out loud funny. I see myself giving copies of this book to a few people I know who would appreciate it.

I spent the first half hour trying to remember when I'd ordered it, but then realized I never did. But it's really good!

Women are being murdered and Claire Hunt, star of Home Shopping Network and her husband Gil start out as semi-suspects and end up trying to emulate Hart to Hart. Book is sort of a romantic cozy, not written at a very high level. 2 stars, not recommended.

The Last Time She Died by Zoë Sharp, one of my favorite authors.
Her newest protagonist holds so much potential and intrigue as a main character!

When does the next Cork book come out?!
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Bewilderment, by Richard Powers, which is on the shortlist for the Booker Prize, and which, by the way, as of yesterday became the newest title in Oprah's book club. It was different. One more to go -- No One Is Talking About This, by Patricia Lockwood.
currently involved in reading The Villa and the Vortex: Selected Supernatural Stories, 1914-1934 by Elinor Mordaunt and Flowers for Algernon as a sort of companion read to Bewilderment.
