Finished After Dark, My Sweet by Jim Thompson. Thompson was so good at putting readers in the head of dark, twisted characters. 4/5

A Line To Kill
by:Anthony Horowitz
Horowitz provides a wonderful new addition to the Hawthorne/Horowitz series. My full review:

DI Nikki Galena and her team are on the trail of an arsonist.
Okay plot, and it's fun to visit with favorite characters. 3 stars

the nonfiction

It also provides deeper info about the Crimean annexation and "prisoner of conscience" Alexei Navalny

Seymour of Special Branch #3, OK to read as a stand-alone but probably best to read the 1st in the series 1st. It's 1912. Seymour of the Yard is sent to Athens because someone has poisoned the Sultan's cat. Is this a training exercise for someone to poison the Sultan himself? The series is light and fun with a bit of history and geography added. I like the series and this entry is so far the best. 4 stars, highly recommended.

Now I'm reading two very different mysteries:
The Life We Bury which I am quite enjoying
The Shape of Water, not so much

Trouble In Paradise by Robert B. Parker
Rating: 2 stars

and I started the second book in the hard-boiled Bernie Gunther "Berlin Trilogy":

The Pale Criminal by Philip Kerr

A serial killer who'd gone dormant returns after 20 years, and Detective Annalisa Vega gets the case.
Good mystery/police procedural. 3.5 stars

Next in line is the 5th book in an action / adventure series, featuring Modesty Blaise; The Impossible Virgin by Peter O'Donnell

I wish those were available in digital format along with the books he wrote as Madeleine Brent
and to stay on topic, I finished reading the three Caleb Zelic books (Book 1 was one of the BOTM books) by Emma Viskic and thought they were pretty good

I wish those were available in digital format along w..."
I found the series at a Rotary Club Book Sale a few years back.. Well, most of them. I've had to order the remainder to get the whole series.

Perfect for those that like fast paced police procedurals. A link to my four star review:

Brady Coyne #5, OK to read as a stand-alone. Brady does a favor for an old client and goes up to Maine to check out the possible sale of the fishing camp there. I like the series and this one was fine but certainly nothing special.

Fabulous book! Here’s a link to my five star review:

While visiting his family, Chief Inspector Armand Gamache probes a criminal conspiracy in Paris.
Good story but overly complex. 3 stars

What a treat, I found a Westlake I'd never read. Like Christmas morning. Meehan, being a professional burglar, is in jail. Some political types get him out to help in their campaign. It doesn't go like they had planned. I love the way Westlake writes. 4 stars.

I also finished a 5 book Fantasy series ending with Crown of Renewal by Elizabeth Moon today which was excellent.
