Echo's reading another 50 for 2021
Finished The Big Four and started in on Agent Sonya: Moscow's Most Daring Wartime Spy for work book club
Finished The Way of Kings, all 46 hours of the audiobook, right down to the wire of having to turn it back into the library, lol Trying to finish The Book of Lost Names before next Monday for a book club.
Finished The Book of Lost Names in time for the book club, probably going to delve back into mysteries next.
1/5 of the way there! Finished Words of Radiance and have started on The Once and Future Witches for book club
Finished The Astonishing Color of After for my color challenge with the group and now starting in on Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents for book club.
The Goblin Emperor was SO good. And it's introduced me to a new term: Mannerpunk - Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series in June
Finished Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, which was brilliantly written and thought provoking to say the least.
Finished The Mystery of the Blue Train, which was not my favorite Poirot so far, but it wasn't terrible. Just seemed cluttered. Starting in on Ceremony next.
Finished Ceremony, though it was a slog and I definitely don't feel I was the intended audience. Picked up The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms based on a recommendation from my local library.
Finished The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and once again N.K. Jemisin did not disappoint. I love her style and the way she builds worlds. Still need to finish up The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and also need to find a book with two colors in the title for one of my reading challenges.
Finished up The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, which was very good, and I definitely want to read more from Becky Chambers now. Also started up Snow White, Blood Red for my color challenge, which I'm just about done with, so I may try for a second round on it because why not?
Finished The Traitor Baru Cormorant, which was not bad, but not enough to make me want to finish the trilogy, unfortunately. May take a look at my TBR pile while I finish up Snow White, Blood Red which, oof, has NOT been all that good, but I'm slogging through it.
Ended up picking up We Have Always Been Here: A Queer Muslim Memoir from the library, since it's been on my TBR pile for a bit. It was quite good, I enjoyed her style of story telling and the picture she painted and the overall message: You can be queer and muslim, you can have faith, you are deserving of love. Picked up another book from the TBR pile too, which I'm tearing through because it's so good: Remote Control
Finished off Snow White, Blood Red which was just.... such a slog. I only finished it to complete a prompt for a reading challenge. Otherwise I would have given up due to the number of errors and over the top, shock value storytelling. Need to finish Remote Control (which I have very much been enjoying so far) and then probably get back into tackling some more mysteries for that challenge. :D
Rare that I post two updates in one day, but I really got hooked on Remote Control and just had to finish it.
Finished My Sister, the Serial Killer which was definitely different for me, but overall I liked it. Picked up Peril at End House next.
Finished The Color Purple, which I kind of wish I *had* read in HS. Though I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much as I did.
Finished Where the Crawdads Sing for my book club and WOW what a great recommendation! Will likely pull The Thin Man next from the library.
Finished Peril at End House, still working on The Thin Man, then will likely do the next Poirot, then maybe a short break from mysteries, but we'll see.
Finished The Thin Man, and will likely start in on A Closed and Common Orbit next instead of jumping in on another mystery.
Finished Lord Edgware Dies by Agatha Christie because it came in off my holds list. Still working through A Closed and Common Orbit and I also have The Boy in the Striped Pajamas coming up.
Making great progress Echo, and so interesting that you set yourself those sub goals. Happy reading 😊
I cannot believe I finished Broken in one sitting, but it was just too good to put down. So full of hope and honesty and excellent, EXCELLENT points about recovery and what it looks like. Just got notified that my hold came in for The Night Circus so will start in on that as soon as I've finished off A Closed and Common Orbit.
Completed A Closed and Common Orbit which was another great read. I am a big fan of the way Becky Chambers focuses on building up the characters and worlds. It's slice of life but with real depth. Looking forward to continuing with the series for sure. Started in on The Night Circus next, hoping to then do some Dresden file rereads so I can get caught up there. Also need to continue with Sanderson eventually...
Finished The Night Circus, and I expect my pace will start to slow a little here, but.... Have The Witness for the Dead in print and have Storm Front for audiobooking up next.
Finished reading the Big Book, Alcoholics Anonymous since I'm in Overeaters Anonymous and it is a good resource for anyone working a 12 step program.
Finished Storm Front, which was a reread for me. Trying to get refreshed and caught back up on the series. So jumped right into Fool Moon next.
Ended up picking up Orange Is the New Black and really enjoyed it. I had no idea that it was a biography, and it was a great one.
Finished People Like Her for my mystery challenge. Still need to get started on The Witness for the Dead, but next up will likely be Grave Peril as an audiobook since I have a long drive this weekend. :)
Finished The Turn of the Screw, which was okay, but not my favorite. I can see why it's a classic, though.
Completed both The Color of Magic and The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy! Next, I'm really really really going to pick up Witness for the Dead.
So I lied, and still have not started Witness for the Dead. Sigh. But I did finish both Bones on Ice and The Brothers: The Road to an American Tragedy so still progressing!
My sponsor and I finished reading through Body Image, Relationships, and Sexuality: Personal Journeys to Recovery in Overeaters Anonymous and I really did start The Witness for the Dead!
Ended up devouring Witness for the Dead pretty quickly and now I'm a little sad that I don't have more to read in that setting, heh. Ah well.
Finished The Push before I had to return it to the library. It was okay, but I feel like it was yet another thriller that was trying to be super edgy and just ended up being pretty predictable. Not 100% sure what I'll read next.
Read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, which has been on my TBR list for two years. I never had to read it in highschool, but I can see why it's often required reading and a classic. Started in on another Jim Butcher Dresden files re-read too.
Long weekend made for good reading. Finished Summer Knight and started in on both Record of a Spaceborn Few and Black Rainbow.
