@Rushali yes, I did! It was actually weird, but it's not the first time it happened, I used to wake up in the middle of the night with solution to work problems and all kind of stuff. It appears my mind work better when I'm not controlling it XD

Actually, my ex co-worker was impressed XD like "hell girl you *are* dedicated, aren't you?"
And the previos job I had I was my own boss but that was mainly nightmares, especially on Christmas (I swear to god my cheekbones ached from smiling to much and I'd dream of rushing to make wrappings and packages with an infinite line of customes in front of me. I lost a couple of kg too!)

So how bad should I feel that I haven't even accomplished it in the one language I speak? ;)

@Erica not bad at all! I'm a HUGE fan so it stikes me odd that I read basically everything about it, the films (I was also studying cinema when they came out so I was like CHRISTMAS! and I got the perfect excuse to geek away at all the crazy amount of work in detail they put in - also some of the swords came from a city in my small region in Italy, can you believe it?) but I never thought to read it in english.
For example, when I was 19 I fell in love with the Dark Tower - a friend lent me all the italian copies of the seven books. Later on, I bought them for myself (they are a beautiful edition and it's not easy to find today) but I also read them all in english.
So it's just odd I didn't, not that anyone did XD

No it's pretty bad I tried to read the Hobbit and got stalled after three pages. I love those movies so much. When they were coming out to theatres my family made them a part of our Christmas celebrations to go see them/marathon them before the new one. (extended versions of course) Maybe it will happen this year.

@Erica In this case I wish for you to accomplish your goal! Your family is great! I was the only one loving fantasy before my sister grew up and I was always alone, my brother and father were more of the scifi type! I'm the weaver, I adore both genres.
I have no idea to what expect from the orginal actually.
I know that the translation I read the first time was very thorough and was made by a group of people very dedicated to Tolkien's work.
But reading Jane Eyre in orginal language this year for the first time, I still discovered it's a completely different kind of beauty, being able to read the actual words the author chose.

Btw, I'm reading an essay called The Wretched of the Earth by Franzt Fanon. It's about decolonization and the future of the newly free colonies (it was written in 1961). He was a Martinican-Algerian psychologist, and had a huge influence on various movements - like the Panthers and even the IRA. I'm at the beginning, so it's difficult to say what I think for now.

I started reading Lakewood by Megan Giddings today and am a bit more than a third of the way through so far. I'm a bit underwhelmed and disappointed by the book and writing style so far, although I like that it acknowledges social issues pretty well. I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on the book, whether you're also currently reading it or have finished it? I'm sure it gets better later on in the story, but the mystery is just a bit too heavyhanded and a bit confusing at times.
