Mad About Series Challenge 2021

Finished the Fire Trilogy by Kat Martin.. was a very good one. All very emotional and touching love stories.
The last one was more of a romantic suspense.
Though didn't approve of the heroine in the second book. She was a spoilt girl who broke the hero s heart.
Overall an enjoyable series.

Yikes, my historical reading has fallen off a cliff! I have only completed about 1/4 of my challenge so far. But I finally updated for Bru's post & also my own, so I have officially finished 2/9 series. Nevermind that they are all ones where I had only one left :)

I’ve read more HR in the past year than I have in the last six, because of challenges and BRs. I had to excuse myself from a couple of CR groups, because it’s hard to fit it all in.

I watched Reign a few years back. Not everything in the series is fact . But I enjoyed the series.
I like reading highlander story’s . I think it’s the Scottish side of my family history, that might draw me into reading them. Hope you enjoy the series.
It was definitely a modern version of Mary Queen of Scots .

I finished another book in Grace Burrowes' Rogues to Riches series, The Truth About Dukes. 3 stars - not my fav in the series, but not a bad read. I love the cover on this edition.


Now only ONE MORE to read in this series, How to Catch a Duke.


I have taken a break from the massive Mackenzies and Macbrides series. I've read a lot of them this year, but still some to go....

I have thought about reading the MacKenzies and MacBrides series . But it is a lot of books. I am already collecting two large series of books, so I put that series to collect at a later date LOL.
Jan you will have to let me know if you think it is a good series to collect. If I can I like to read in order.

I am reading The MacCarrick Brothers series by Kresley Cole. Started with book 2 lol, enjoyed 4 stars. So have bought books 1 and 3. Just started to read book 1. Loving the humour, had a few laughing moments already .

Shaz it is a really good series and well worth reading. Very well written with interesting characters. I have just found some of the later books not quite as good as the earlier ones, and decided to take a break. But I recommend. I think reading in order is better for this series.

Shaz - Thanks! I did enjoy most of Spindle Cove & Girl Meets Duke along with Bridgerton obviously. I really LOVED Rescued from Ruin by Elisa Braden..I generally get bored with long series but this one was rivetting through and through barring one book!

Suspense - The London Lords, The Stud Club
Good Characterization - Rescued from Ruin, Any Stacy Reid Book
Light Reading - Duke/ Duchess for All Seasons
LOVE - Love by Numbers (9 Rules to Break when ROmancing a Rake will be go down in history for me)
Sex - Fallen (Any Nicola Davidson book) Fiery Tales (Decent story) and holy mother of God - Sierra Simone lights up a red hot fire (Read her Priest Triology)

3. Bevelstokes - Julia Quinn - Ehhh but dramatic reading of mrs Butterworth books is probably the funniest thing I have read in ages
4. Smith Smythe Quartet - Julia Quinn - Cute
5. Splendid Triology - Julia Quinn - Mixed feelings about this one
6. Agents of the Crown - Julia Quinn - Liked it
7. Lyndon Sisters - Julia Quinn - I Loved the Hero from the 1st one
8. Two Dukes of Wyndham - Julia Quinn - Interesting story, the second book is not worth reading, its basically the 1st book with a diff perspective
9. The Stud Club - Tessa Dare - I initially thought it had a good premise but it ended up fizzling very weirdly, individually okay reads
10. Wanton Dairymaid Triology - Tessa Dare - I hated the first book, like hated the damn heroine but the 2nd book was interesting and the 3rd one was meh at best
11. Girl Meets Duke - Tessa Dare - LOVED it..it's damn cute & funny and sexy too
12. Castles Ever After - Tessa Dare - Roamce all the way add some spice to it too
13. Spindle Cove - Tessa Dare - I am partial to Tessa Dare, but I have re-read this entire series
14. Love by Numbers - Sarah MacLean - Ohhhh I fell in love with this series, it gives a full range of emotions
15. The Rules of Scoundrels - Sarah MacLean - Interesting premise but I hated the heroine in 'No Good Duke goes Unpunished'
16. Scandal & Scoundrel - Sarah MacLean - The first one was fun, the others were okay
17. The Rogue Files - Sophie Jordan - Hit & Miss
18. The Debutante Files - Sophie Jordan - Solid 3.5 stars on average, some were good, some interesting and one bad
19. The Forgotten Princesses - Sophie Jordan - Different story but could be a hit & miss
20. Penwick School for Virtuous Girls - Sophie Jordan - I don't know how to describe them, but independent & strong heroines
21. The Derrings - Sophie Jordan - I liked it
22. Bareknuckle Bastards - Sarah MacLean - I don't know why but I loved this series, not your ususal Lords & Dukes n such..but damned if the hero from book 1 wasn't a smooth talking devil!
23. The Wildes of Lindow Castle - Eloisa James - Interesting
24. The Worthingtons - Ella Quinn - Please do yourselves a favor and don't read these books, they grated on my nerves as the series progressed, the 1st book was good though
25. Fiery Tales - Lila DiPasqua - 3 novels & the rest were novellas and I loved every single one of them...and they were HOT!
26. Fallen - Nicola Davidson - Some story, mostly smut, smut & smut same with 'Surrey Sexual Freedom Society' - another smutty series
27. The London Lords - Nicola Davidson - Oh my I LOVED these, so much that I wrote to Ms. Davison and begged her to write more in this series, she said yes btw!
28. The Heart of Enquiry - Grace Callaway - Started off well, fizzled later though, but good story, suspense and some romance obviously
29. Wedded by Scandal - Stacy Reid - LOVED it! Specially 'When the Earl Met His Match' Ms. Reid's character development & story and individuality in every book is unparalleled
30. The Duke's Club - Eva Devon - It had promise to begin with then it just got so damn boring
31. Sinful Wallflowers - Stacy Reid - I loved these books, Ms Ried has handled some difficult topics in these books well
32. Scandalous House of Calydon - Stacy Reid - Ohhh I loved them and they were HOT! Also scandalous
33. The Unwanted Dukes - Jesse Clever - I will say this, Not Enough Grovelling! but the 2nd book hero did not need grovelling, good story, interesting characters, sweet romance & hot sex
34. Pleasure Wars - Jess Michaels - I really like book 1 in this series, but as the name suggest these books are sexy!

I agree with several of your observations. I also got started with HR because of Bridgeton, and proceeded to the other Julia Quinn books :) I liked book 3, 4 and 5 the most. Also LOVE The Girl meets Duke series and the wedded by scandal series. Struggle a little with Rescue from ruin but I think that is mostly because I have trouble with the reader (I mostly do audiobooks), but once I get into the story I enjoy it - The devil is a marquess is my favorite and is on my reread list already:)

@Nilambari, duly noted about your review for Ella Quinn's Worthington series. I actually have two of the books in my "might read" shelf. I DNF'd the only book I've ever read written by her (The Most Eligible Lord in London). It was just so dull and no sexual tension and chemistry between the H/h.

I've skimmed through a few books by Nicola Davidson. Based on what I've read, her books aren't as smutty as I thought they could be, like Jess Michaels and Grace Callaway. Maybe I need to actually read one completely. Fortunately, book 1 (To Love a Hellion) of The London Lords is available in Kindle Unlimited so I'll try to read it when I get the chance.

@Missy - Some Davidson books are smutty, some not so much. The London Lords are more about suspense & intrigue. I loved those.
About Ella Quinn - I still regret reading them. Unfortunately, I finished them, no idea why???? OCD, I guess!

Thanks! More than series addiction it is an OC need to finish the whole series when I take up a new book. But I would love to track others, read new series and get recommendations.

The Most Eligible Lord in London was probably my least favorite book by Ella Quinn, and I don't think her books can easily be read in quick succession. I also haven't rated any if her books 5 stars, but I have enjoyed some of her lighthearted reads between other books.
