I’m doing this prompt now. I’m reading Queenie Malone’s Paradise Hotel by Ruth Hogan. I already had this book but had not read it yet.
I'm not far enough through the Sue Grafton series yet for even Q, so I'm going to go for Zealot: A book about cults by Jo Thornely
I read Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything - highly recommend! Very interesting and pretty funny.
I'm thinking The Queen of Nothing, as long as skipping the "the" is legit. Otherwise, I need to work a bit harder.
I read (listened to) The Queen's Gambit for this prompt.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would definitely recommend this one if you are looking for a book to fit this prompt. Now, I will be watching the Netflix series! Happy reading!
Me tonight: I need to finish up the Kinsey Millhome novels. I think I missed a few. Pretty sure I never read Q, V, X, and Y..Me for the past two weeks : it’s so hard finding a book title that STARTS with Q, X, or Z…
Me HALF AN HOUR LATER: Oh, wait…
So yeah…I’ll probably read Q is for Quarry or X, by Sue Grafton.
Just finished Queen of the Conquered, an own-voices fantasy novel about an alternate Caribbean during colonial times. Highly recommend!https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm reading books mainly from the Newbery Medal list so much as I am able. I found one fitting this prompt: Zlateh The Goat and Other Stories by Isaac Bashevis Singer. It was a Newbery Honor Book in 1967.
Trish wrote: "I'm thinking The Queen of Nothing, as long as skipping the "the" is legit. Otherwise, I need to work a bit harder."I was also wondering if it counts if there is an A or a The before it...
In APA style — and every “A to Z” challenge I’ve seen or in which I have participated — “When alphabetizing titles or group names as authors, go by the first significant word (disregard a, an, the, etc.).”And, since this was my suggestion, I can tell you that I disregard the articles “a, an and the” when alphabetizing titles.
I read Zeitoun it was a five star read for me. Center around an Islam family during Hurricane Katrina. Was a non fiction the read like a novel.
I was considering Zofloya, Zuleika Dobson, Z, or Zorba the Greek, but I think I'll probably go with Quicksand for this one.
ZamiQueen of the Conquered
Queen's Own Fool
Queen of the Night
I'll probably end up using Queen of the Conquered for this, mainly because it'll come up first in my reading plans.
That book was so interesting! If you google what happened afterwards, it's quite disturbingLaureen wrote: "I read Zeitoun it was a five star read for me. Center around an Islam family during Hurricane Katrina. Was a non fiction the read like a novel."
I tried Quiet and got bored, tried Quicksand but I hate books about law/lawyers, tried Quite Mad but didn't care for the writing style, tried A Zoo in My Luggage because I love Gerald Durrell but got too sad about the animals. Now I've tried Queen's Gambit on audio and am really enjoying it so far. If it takes a turn for the worse, I still have Quite a Year for Plums, Quiet Storm, or Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald (although I read Zelda: A Biography last year and A Moveable Feast--in which the Fitzgeralds appear--the year before, so I've had enough of them for awhile).
I read Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot
I thoroughly enjoyed this book after a very slow start!! Highly recommend!!
Zen: An Ancient Path To Enlightenment For Modern Times. A healing dive into Zen Buddhism, with a focus on the Japanese schools, especially Rinzai and Soto. Lots of history but some commentary on practice too.
Zone One by Colson Whitehead is what I read. Interesting reconstruction-era post-zombie attack book/cleanup. Not my favourite but it goes by pretty quickly and it has some interesting moments. :)
I read Queen Bee (Lowcountry Tales #12) by Dorothea Benton Frank for this prompt. It was the first book I came to that started with, "Q","X", or "Z". 3 stars. I would consider it a light beach read. I didn't realize it was part of a series when I downloaded it from Hoopla. I hadn't read any other books in the series. It read like a stand alone book to me. I only read it for the prompt.
Is everyone allowing books with A or The before the Q, X or Z word?I want to read The Quick and the Thread, but I can also read Quicksand.
I should read Quicksand because my Swedish cousin bought me the book so I feel obligated, but....
Alicia — Per AP Style rules:“When alphabetizing titles or group names as authors, go by the first significant word (disregard a, an, the).”
I just finished The Quiet Girl. It was a rocky start for me, but I ultimately enjoyed it. TW: sexual assault, child abuse, self harm
I read The Queen of Hearts by Kimmery Martin for this prompt. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would from the description. It's very dark and twist-y like Grey's Anatomy, which is one of my favorite shows.
Jessica wrote: "For those of you who want a more Chick-lit, Southern, Romance type of book (which non of these others seem like they are) give Queen Bee by Dorothea Benton Frank a chance. She is one of my favorite..."So, just by chance I read X by Sue Grafton before I could get around to reading Queen Bee. So instead, I am going to count X here.
Rachael wrote: "I'm not far enough through the Sue Grafton series yet for even Q, so I'm going to go for Zealot: A book about cults by Jo Thornely"I just read X and have never read any of her other books before...oh well.
I'll either read Zero Repeat Forever by Gabrielle S. Prendergast or the Romanian book Zona zero by Lavinia Călina.
Dana wrote: "I'll either read Zero Repeat Forever by Gabrielle S. Prendergast or the Romanian book Zona zero by Lavinia Călina."I have listened to Zero G by Dan Wells
Finished
Queenie Malone's Paradise Hotel by Ruth HoganMy Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm listening to The Queen's Gambit for this prompt. This is the second-last category before I finish the 2021 reading challenge.
I have read 49 of the 50 categories and am down to Q, X, or Z as my final challenge read, but I'm having trouble settling on my choice. My possibilities are:Zorba the Greek
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
Zeus is Dead (a re-read) followed by Zeus is Undead (a new read)
Queen of the Conquered
Which to read, which to read! I had better decide soon.
