The shortest book on your TBR!!

I have a lot of free shorts, picture books, and graphic novels on my list, and I guess I could just use the shortest one of those. Excluding those, my shortest book is Bluets (98 pages) followed by Atlantic Hotel (104 pages)

This is pretty specific to each reader's TBR so I haven't created a Listopia list for this one.

Sarah | 91 comments Skipping books with "unknown" page counts, my shortest is The Terracotta Bride at 51 pages, followed by The Only Harmless Great Thing at 93 pages. I like how this balances out the longest book prompt!

message 3: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissyreadings) | 2 comments This would be 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl which is 212 pages

message 4: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Lourenço (ssandraa) | 128 comments According to what I have on my Goodreads "want-to-read", the shortest book I own is My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies

message 6: by Meg (new)

Meg | 45 comments I have these 5 books at home and under 100 pages.

Esio Trot
Fantastic Mr. Fox
84, Charing Cross Road
Mut
Animal Farm

message 7: by Denise (new)

Denise | 374 comments Mine is Year of the Monkey by Patti Smith.

message 8: by Drakeryn (new)

Drakeryn | 708 comments Might go with The Empress of Salt and Fortune at 112 pages.

I also own The Only Harmless Great Thing (93 pages) from a Tor giveaway, but am not sure I want to read it because animal cruelty, so it may not count as on my TBR.

message 9: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 74 comments I have a lot of audio editions on my TBR (by accident) and they usually have only a few pages. I also have some on my TBR that are listed as unknown... I think I'm going to use my best judgement and most likely it will be The Stranger by Albert Camus which I think is around 123 pages.

message 10: by Brandi (new)

Brandi (blkreutz) | 9 comments I have The Little Prince down as the shortest in my TBR pile.

message 11: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (chelseanotchels) | 55 comments Galatea is mine at somewhere between 20 and 32 pages (Goodreads appears to have multiple values)

message 12: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (bookstasamm) | 182 comments One Star - 17 pages

message 14: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Weber | 270 comments Right now, mine is The Cool Bean at 41 pages, but I'm an Elementary Librarian so I'll be adding new picture books all the time. I might wait until mid year and see what I haven't read yet.

Excluding some picture books, We Should All Be Feminists at 48 pages for the paperback version which I own.

message 16: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Oertel | 764 comments I just picked up Down the Rabbit Hole so this will be a great excuse to move it up the TBR mountain.

message 17: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (sjwthompson) | 36 comments During the Dance by Mark Lawrence - 9 pages

It is a beautiful short story

message 18: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 366 comments For the books that are listed as Unknown, does anyone know how to get those updated?

message 19: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments Mine is A Hippo Banquet. I bought a bunch of these short Penguin classics and then promptly forgot about them. This is the shortest

Look to see if there is an alternate edition that has page numbers. On a book’s page, under all the book info, there’s a link for “all editions.” It will show a list of the different formats and covers for that book. Find one with a page count and click on “switch to this edition.”

Alas, sometimes this info is not available, especially if a book is only available in ebook or audio.

message 21: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Kraves Books (kristinkravesbooks) | 8 comments Intimations by Zadie Smith. It's 97 pages.

message 22: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne | 16 comments I am going to read Mismanagement is an Art. It has 54 pages. I guess I can tolerate anything for 54 pages.

message 23: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments Onward: The Search for the Phoenix Gem: An In-Questigation by Steve Behling is about 130 pages. I liked the movie, and I own a Kindle copy, so this should be smooth sailing.

message 24: by Dixie (new)

Dixie (dixietenny) Mine is appaloosa to zebra, an equine alphabet photo book.

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 1756 comments Melissa wrote: "For the books that are listed as Unknown, does anyone know how to get those updated?"

You can ask a librarian: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

I don't mind adding some here and there but you'll probably get a quicker response asking in the group.

message 26: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 1756 comments My shortest is In Sea-Salt Tears at 24 pages. I wouldn't usually use something so short for the challenge, so I might go for the shortest physical book I own which is The Scarlet Plague at 72 pages.

message 27: by Tania (new)

Tania | 678 comments It really depends on how accurate the GR page count is, but I think it's going to be DIY Press Releases: Your Guide to Becoming Your Own PR Consultant at 42 pages

Thanks Ellie! I knew about changing to a different edition, but I'm particular about marking the edition that I read, so I'd prefer to get it updated then pretend I read a different edition. I'll definitely check out the Librarians group.

message 29: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats for me! Just 56 pages

message 30: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 135 comments Either Caroline's Heart or Don't Call Us Dead for me. They both have 96 pages.

message 31: by Teri (new)

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I had a lot of books in audiobook editions, so this gave me a chance to change them to another format so I could have decent page totals. I have some short stories and childrens' books that I don't count towards challenges, so my rule was the first book that had more than 70 pages. The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman at 72 pages wins the lottery!

message 32: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments For this prompt I'm using TBR to mean the books I've already picked out for th year rather than every book I own. So I'm going with State of Emergency.

message 33: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 127 comments For me it's definitely this one: Cinderella Liberator Cinderella Liberator by Rebecca Solnit
It was part of Emma Watson's book club, and I just saw it's on scribd!

message 34: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Golden (jaxten) Space Struck for me at 72 pages.

message 35: by poshpenny (new)

poshpenny | 1916 comments I've decided to be cheeky with this one. I know it specifies shortest book by pages, but I am going with my shortest book in inches. (which probably at least ties by pages as well, honestly.) I haven't read my copy yet.

How Watson Learned the Trick is one and a half inches tall.

message 36: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1301 comments Love it Poshpenny!

message 39: by Roshan (new)

Roshan (rose2407) | 2 comments Sea Prayer by Khaled Hosseini

message 40: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 74 comments I cleaned up the formats of editions on my TBR for all my short books and turned out In Conclusion, Don't Worry About It by Lauren Graham was the shortest on my TBR at 64pp. I was able to read it on 1/1 in about 30 minutes so this prompt is done! :)

message 41: by Sarah (new)

Sarah B | 101 comments I read Grooks 1 for this as I already had it and it's only 61 pages.

message 42: by Claire (new)

Claire (lecari) | 26 comments I read To Be Taught, If Fortunate for this one - it's 153 pages. It was a great read too - I really enjoyed it! Short but sweet :)

message 43: by Leona (last edited Jan 06, 2021 04:55AM) (new)

Leona (mnleona) | 244 comments I read last night, Inca Empire: A History from Beginning to End by Hourly History. It was a free download. Only 37 pages. Inca Empire A History from Beginning to End by Hourly History

message 45: by Ira (new)

Ira | 32 comments The winner is Twelfth Night with 101 pages

message 46: by Storm (new)

Storm | 60 comments I used The Paper Bag Princess at 32 pages (and feels way shorter as it's a picture book)

message 49: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments Tamara wrote: "I read I'd Rather Be Reading: The Delights and Dilemmas of the Reading Life which is 149 pages."

Loved that, enjoy!

message 50: by Laura (new)

Laura (agirlnamedstu) | 24 comments I chose Blue Horses, which was only 79 pages. Plus, most of the back sides of the pages were blank. So yes, it was a pretty short but delightful read.
