Welcome to YTLO, Nancy.

I have added your thread to the Quick Link thread which you'll find as a sticky thread near the top of the Annual Challenges thread.

We have another Nancy in the group. Her "wall of fame" name is Nancy H. Please pop over to the Wall of Fame Name List and Request Thread where you can request a wall of fame name unique to you. When you start earning badges, they'll be displayed on your own personal Wall.

Great, thank you Janice! I thought that was the case, just wanted to be absolutely sure.

Katrisa | 4460 comments I have been keeping myself from my 2021 reading list by checking off some books on the BBC Big Reads top 100 list (that I have been working through for the last few years). I'm down to some long books that I have keep putting off. Back to David Copperfield! :)

Me too! And “going” to each museum to find a piece that speaks to me, putting it on my planning thread and scrolling through to look at them all. I love this challenge.

message 109: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I decided to stop stressing out about the interactive tasks. I have figured out enough for my first few museums, so I have been quietly reading and re-listening to some of my favorite audiobooks. To day is my last day of work for this year.

message 111: by Hobbit_Marco (new)

Hobbit_Marco Can you use non-fiction books for this challenge as well?

message 112: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments If it fits the task and the other book requirements like minimum page count, it's no problem :)

message 113: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments I have added the Challenge widget for the 2021 Museum challenge. You will find it on the Group Home (towards the top) if you are interested in tracking the numbers of books you read for the challenge.

I found it through website. link doesn't work in mobile app. Maybe because the thread is closed.

Sharon Hopper | 2422 comments Question: for Museum 24
About: Read a book in a series of 7 books. Does it have to be the 7th book or can it be any book in the series of 7?

message 118: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Sharon wrote: "Question: for Museum 24

It can be any book in the series, as long as all 7 books in the series are currently published when you read it. You have to watch. I had a book planned for the 7-book series task, but 2 books weren't published. One is expected to be published next week, and the other is to be published next year. So, it is (until next week) a 5-book series. I read it for the 5-book series this week.

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Sharon wrote: "Just checking to see if my Museum 31 Book 3 was approved. Thank you."

Can you provide me with a message number in which you asked for approval, please? My tracker shows that you've completed Museum 31, so I'm a little confused what you are asking for.

message 121: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Hopper | 2422 comments Message 31. I have finished it. I had put down the wrong museum number (41 instead of 31). I went in and fixed that. Just wanted to be sure it was ok.

I think Sharon is referring to her own thread here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

And was just confirming that the book was accepted for museum 31 because she accidentally logged it as 41 originally.

Sharon, if that's correct then I would guess that it was accepted. Janice stated in the linked post that she tracked it as museum 31 and above that you had completed museum 31, so I think you're all set.

message 126: by Viji (new)

Viji | 1506 comments I plan to read for Museums 1- 4 for my Badge 1. A few books which fit the other museums/other challenges have to be read before I read the books for Badge 1. Instead of marking them as Badge 2 or 3, could I post the books read for other Museums without any Badge no. and later on group them to the appropriate Badge?

I hope this is the proper forum to address my query as it is of a general nature.

Thanks.

I need a badge number for my tracking, so go ahead and mark them as badge 2. That can be adjusted later if you end up reading them for badge 3 or later.

Amanda | 1789 comments For all of the "read a book by an author from ..." tasks, does the author have to currently live in that country/continent, or just have to have been born there?

message 130: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Amanda wrote: "For all of the "read a book by an author from ..." tasks, does the author have to currently live in that country/continent, or just have to have been born there?"

If an author has lived long term in a country, then you may count him for that country. An example - "Jack Whyte is an author and writer born and raised in Scotland, but has been living in western Canada since 1967, and in Kelowna, British Columbia, since 1996." You can count him as either Scottish or Canadian.

Viji | 1506 comments I find Death of a Milliner Riley Rochester Investigates (Riley Rochester Investigates #9) by Wendy Soliman works for a few tasks (in various museums) - the photograph, musical instrument, hat, chair, published in 2020 etc.

But this book has only the Kindle edition and no paperback editions have been mentioned. As per amazon.in link:
https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B08K...,
the page count is 259 pages.

Could this book be used for any of the tasks?

Where could I post queries of this nature when a book fits tasks in many museums?

Thanks.

This one makes me nervous. Minimum pages is 175, and this has 259 Kindle pages. That's not a lot of wiggle room.

I'm really struggling with this one. Cover tasks are based on prominence and focus. In this cover, the prominent feature and focus is the woman in a green dress. You can't tell if those are photos or paintings on the wall. The chair is too small and insignificant. The pianoforte could be used. There is no task for a woman wearing a hat or a book published in 2020.

I just don't think this is a good option, Viji.

As to your question about where to post multi-museum question, this is the correct thread.

Thanks a lot, Janice, for the clarification. Sorry I mixed up the tasks requiring a man wearing a hat and book published in 2000. I planned to read this book for another challenge and was not sure about the page count for this challenge. I would drop this book for this challenge.

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Thanks Viji. After spending about 15 minutes trying to resolve that book in your favour, I realized that was a lot of time to make a ruling and maybe there are better choices available to you than that book.

It is the book I got for the task lion in the title

In that case, the title of the book is The Lion of Wales, so it would count.
